OKAY so generally EVERYTHING by radical face absolutely SLAPS and side note that many of his songs give me major twdg feels but generally everything he does is so excellent and feels so personal to me it’s almost autobiographical at this point honestly

but this one in particular is cool bc it’s from his album The Family Tree: The Leaves. here I’m just going to copypaste an explanation from this site here bc it says it better that i can:

More than 10 years ago, Ben Cooper AKA Radical Face, started crafting the story of a fictitious, and sometimes otherworldly 19th century family. He brought those characters to life in a three-part album series based around the family he created and recorded alone in the shed behind his mom’s house in Jacksonville, Florida.

Certain instrumentations and melodies were used to represent various “family members” and each album was recorded using only the instrumentation available during the era represented.
