These will be hanging in my window to celebrate the return of light as we move away from the darkest day of the year. Such a perfect little low-cost & low-waste option. Especially if you live somewhere that your citrus trees are still producing fruit (like me).

There are many ways to decorate your altar for Yule, a holiday that is celebrated by some Wiccans and other Pagans as the winter solstice. Here are a few ideas:

Add candles in colors that are associated with Yule, such as red, green, and gold. You could also use white candles to represent the winter season.

Some Pagans decorate their entire house for Yule, especially if they are living with non-Pagans and combining their Yule celebration with Christmas. But if you are someone who doesn't decorate, you may want to at least dress up your altar.

You can drape it with pine boughs or a swag made from pine and juniper. Use colors like red, green, gold, and natural elements like pinecones, acorns, and gourds.

You can honor the Goddess in her mother role, since she will give birth to the infant God at Yule, returning the Sun to the world.

Don't forget that this is a holiday that celebrates the returning light, so if it is safe to do so, be sure to add some candles.

Make your altar suit how you celebrate Yule, then if you're able, sit in front of it a few minutes daily.

💙 String popcorn and cranberries to hang outside for the birds.

💙 Gather up the Yule greens after twelfth night and save them to burn at Imbolc to banish the winter and usher the spring.

💙 Declutter your room or house and make a donation with the items you no longer wish to keep.

The Winter Solstice, which takes place on Dec. 21 and marks the shortest day and longest night of the year. It also commemorates the Great Conjunction, an event during which the two largest planets in our solar system – Jupiter and Saturn – will nearly overlap to form a "double planet."

How rare is this occurrence? The last time a close conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn was seen by humans was 1226. So let us enjoy this once in a lifetime opportunity my fellow witches! And have a wonderful Yule!
