Anyway I had been brainstorming this little story taking up after the events of season 5 in a sort of more recent future. You live in the Midwest, South Dakota specifically, living your life just on the border of Minnesota, and just below the border of North Dakota.
You’ve gotten by on knowing how to wow the kids working gas stations with your insane “luck” in pulling winners every single time. But still the big one always evades you. So with what you don’t get enough in lottery tickets and fucking with dealers at the closet casino winning roulette and black jack every time, you make at a little hole in the wall psychic shop on night shifts.
You work for a self-proclaimed “psychic” named Ayple (pronounced apple), she works the day by selling palm readings, fortune tellings, and whether or not her client’s boyfriend is cheating on her and pushing her latest special herbal ozempic for only $10. You work nights. And most everyone (namely those who believe enough to even see a psychic in the first place) know your the REAL deal.
Encountering Ole Munch at the local 24/7 diner somewhat frequently enough to notice you’re some of the only witching hour regulars. Starts with a hi or a wave (one sidedly on your part), until you couldn’t help this weird curiosity from the impressions he puts in your head. Just real odd and random pieces of a very big puzzle. So you get nosy. Talking at him mostly, picking at him both verbally and what ever the weirdness in your head snags onto. And you get nothing that makes sense. But a name. Brynn. You say in passing, a goodbye as you head out after another session of a completely one side conversation. And THAT gets a reaction out of him.
That name rings in his ears. Like a long forgotten friend’s name spoken the first time in a long while. It feels familiar, almost a little sad at what feels like a different person. And you spoke it. How did you know that name? This shakes Ole to the point he becomes infatuated with something that has never happened before. How did you know?
Anyway there’s also like a corruption in town that existed before Roy’s fall, and left a fight over the power vacuum. One that winds up in your lap. That gets you into trouble and ole steps in to “help” you and then they grow close over this weird fucked up situation and of course it gets all cute and romantic.
And Ole is such a wonderfully interesting character he deserves more interest.
