Important message to all Yutazen out there or should I say "ai"
Below is a small important message I want to convey
Yes I am aware that Yuta called his fans "ai" and then boom the realization hits me a bit late 👁👄👁
‼‼‼‼
about the current situation....
I myself am not Korean, therefore I will never be able to fully understand the emotions they’re feeling. But the history between Korea and Japan is very similar to my country’s, so in a way I do understand it (in a way). The situation is very unclear and leaves me with a lot questions. I am not blindly defending Yuta(even though deep down in my heart, I think he’s a respectful, loving human being)nor am I cancelling him (though I find cancelling someone as a very toxic thing to do), as we, international fans do not have a say in this (opinions? Yes, but the decision about his career? No) so we have to wait for the statement. Below are my opinions/confused thoughts.
1)Yuta is known as a very open minded guy, (Feminism, LGBTQ+, etc). So how could he be against women? This seems very contradictory. And I’m genuinely confused.
2)he has adapted the Korean culture and is in a Kpop group. Yes being friends with a certain group of people (e.g Koreans) doesn’t exclude someone from being an anti-Korean. However, the main reason he had become an idol in the first place was because he was inspired by a Kpop group. So if he were xenophobic, why would he even be an idol in Korea in the first place? Plus, he has a very deep appreciation for Korean people and often defended Koreans and got backlash from the Japanese. And once again, it’s very contradictory.
3)what that youtuber does, supports is beyond DISGUSTING and should be ashamed for his actions. Korean women who have suffered still don’t get the justice they deserve, so the whole thing is very messed up.
4)yuta is a grown man, an adult- he should be very cautious choosing his friends. Speaking of choosing friends, a lot of times we meet very wrong people, but the moment we realise their behaviour or morals are completely complicit we stay away from them. Considering the fact, that Yuta had just befriended the said youtuber, we don’t know what their conversations were about and the main reason why yuta publicly called him “hilarious”. Seriously, if he knew what that youtuber’s immoral thoughts were in the first place , why would he publicly talk about his “friendship”(as of a very recent friendship) with this dickhead, during a live? Wouldn’t he know that would get him into trouble? We may or may not know if people are toxic/problematic from the beginning in any sort of relationship, we don’t know his side of the story.
5)”unfollowing doesn’t mean he’s not friends with him anymore” yes, but it also doesn’t mean he is. We don’t know what really happened between them, what they really talked about. They MAY or May NOT talked about the issues regarding the dark history of these two countries. Therefore we don’t know, just by associating with him whether Yuta supports his misogynistic, xenophobic ass or not.
6)sending him death threats, making disgusting petitions are not ok. If you do that, you’re not in any way a better person.
7)stop glorifying your idols, if needed they need to be called out AND educated: not bashed, nor bullied.
8)there is always room for growth.
9)as I’ve mentioned above, I’m not Korean, therefore my opinion doesn’t change anything, however I am allowed to have one.
10)this matter shouldn’t be swept under the rug, and shouldn’t be forgotten. The Korean society has the absolute right to be enraged and feel disappointed. We need a statement from Yuta and SM as soon as possible, to finally clear up the matter. And it’s up to Korean society’s and Yuta’s judgment whether he should apologise or not. As we don’t know the full story.
I myself, am very horrified, saddened, confused and angered by this whole matter, and my heart goes with those women who have suffered. I don’t want to believe any false narrative unless the statement will be released.
Please if you have any opinion about mine, feel free to express yourself, but be respectful!
Update 1 : Apparently(because I’m not sure, and I don’t want to spread misinformation), Rheekun is not anti-korea (so I apologise for that part of that post I guess, I wrote these notes with the information we had been given in the very first hours of the scandal, before we could dive deep about that youtuber) however from what I know, he still has videos with a misogynistic context in them(allegedly, I don’t want to mislead anyone, because everyone defines sexism in their own way) Let’s wait. Please-let’s not blame Yuta for everything, because we still don’t know anything yet!
About us not having an exact say about his career: I definitely don’t want him to leave, as him leaving may cause even bigger issues between SK and JP and effect the JP market for SM. I’m worried for Yuta, because of the amount of hate and death threats he gets, so many misleading tweets, mistranslations. I’m also worried about the fact, that he’ll be always associated with this scandal in the Korean society. Making petitions about him leaving, or killing himself is not ok, that’s sick and evil. Once again, we don’t know the full story so you don’t have the right to be the judge. Many Korean fans are just waiting for the statement to arrive and are defending Yuta. Those who are making disgusting comments are just antis and people who immediately jump to conclusions (as I’ve said before, I’ve come across a lot of mistranslated, misleading tweets about the live). I hope he doesn’t leave group, because there’s no NCT without him, however that’s not decided by us. So please, let’s stop blowing this out of the proportion. It’s important to address this subject and settle this once and for all! Once again, I’m trying to be neutral and understand both sides, while listing down my thoughts in an objective manner. If I made any Koreans or fellow yutazens feel offended, I am deeply sorry!
Update 2: in this post, even though I’m trying to stay neutral about the situation , one can see I’m on Yuta’s side, because once again, we don’t know anything fully yet (and inside my heart I believe that Yuta is innocent) . In the passage, where I wrote “ I’m not blindely defending him”, I meant about people who have wrote tweets like this: “omg so what if he’s a pro Japanese imperialist 🥺” . You have the right to defend him of course. All I’m trying to say, is that I’m on Yuta’s side from the beginning of the scandal and I’m worried for him, because we still don’t have the full info about the whole situation. So please, we only get to judge when we have the statement. What we, Yutazens went through these past two days was a literal nightmare! We got so much hate, were called “delusional” and “immoral”, and the way Yuta was dragged to the ground and thrown under a bus, I can’t possibly fathom how he’s feeling now! Please, let’s just wait guys! Stay strong Yutazens!
Ps. I have posted/shared these notes on twitter and Instagram, so don’t get confused if you may come across them.
