MAGA/ICE Violence
A Minnesota state representative and her husband were assassinated by a fundamentalist extremist and "strong supporter of Donald Trump" named Vance L. Boelter. Boelter also shot and wounded a state senator and his wife.
The murdered state rep is former House Speaker Melissa Hortman and the wounded state senator is John Hoffman. Both are Democrats.
There is a $50,000 reward for information leading to the capture of Boelter.
Authorities recovered a long hit list of Boelter's intended targets which included abortion providers and prominent Minnesota and out of state Democrats.

I am sick and tired of hearing about Charlie Kirk and his alleged killer. That same day a school shooting happened and it wasn’t even mentioned in a lot of news reports. And let’s not forget the school/church shooting that happened like two weeks before this news cycle.
Was his death horrifying? Sure especially to the people who didn’t sign up to see it in person nor the people who saw it online. But I’m sorry his life isn’t more important than anyone else’s and the fact that the right is trying to turn him into a martyr is rage inducing.
Melissa, Mark and Gilbert were assassinated in their own home in the middle of the night. John and Yvette Hoffman were also shot in their own home. And yet nobody talks about them anymore nor did the left try to turn them into martyrs.
The alleged shooter is a 57-year-old white male; according to his ministry's website, he “sought out militant Islamists in order to share th
The 57-year-old, who has been identified as the suspected shooter by law enforcement, runs an armed security service with his wife, and has been affiliated with at least one evangelical organization, a ministry he has also run with his wife, according to a tax filing reviewed by WIRED. (His wife could not be immediately reached for comment.) According to public records and archived websites reviewed by WIRED, the suspect served for a time as the president of Revoformation Ministries. A version of the ministry’s website captured in 2011 carries a biography in which he is said to have been ordained in 1993.

In a 2023 sermon reviewed by WIRED and delivered by the alleged shooter in Matadi, a city in the Democratic Republic of Congo that is on the border with Angola, he preached against abortion and called for different Christian churches to become “one.” “They don't know abortion is wrong, many churches,” he said. “They don't have the gifts flowing. God gives the body gifts. To keep balance. Because when the body starts moving in the wrong direction, when they're one, and accepting the gifts, God will raise an apostle or prophet to correct their course.” ”God is going to raise up apostles and prophets in America,” he added, “to correct His church.” In another sermon in Matadi that year, Boelter railed against the LGBTQ community. “There's people, especially in America, they don't know what sex they are. They don't know their sexual orientation. They're confused,” he said. “The enemy has gotten so far into their mind and their soul.”
The shootings, which occurred at the lawmakers' homes, appeared to be politically motivated.
Nina Golgowski at HuffPost:
A Democratic Minnesota state lawmaker was fatally shot and a second wounded early Saturday morning by a gunman impersonating a police officer at their homes. An ongoing manhunt was underway Saturday for the suspect, who had flyers for the “No Kings” political protests in his vehicle, authorities said. State Rep. Melissa Hortman (D) and her husband, Mark, were fatally shot in “what appears to be a politically motivated assassination,” Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) said at a press conference. Minnesota State Sen. John Hoffman (D) and his wife, Yvette, were also shot multiple times at their home and have undergone surgery, he said. “This was an act of targeted political violence,” Walz said, sharing that “we are cautiously optimistic” Hoffman and his wife “will survive this assassination attempt.”
A suspect wanted in the attack was identified Saturday afternoon as 57-year-old Vance Boelter. Authorities, speaking at a press conference, said it’s not yet clear whether Boelter, who reportedly had some local government work experience, personally knew the victims. Walz’s office appointed Boelter in 2019 to serve four years on the Governor’s Workforce Development Board. In 2016, he served on the Governor’s Workforce Development Council under then-Gov. Mark Dayton, The New York Post reported, citing documents. [...] The shootings occurred in a timespan of less than two hours at the lawmakers’ respective homes in Brooklyn Park and Champlin, north of Minneapolis, authorities said. Brooklyn Park Police Chief Mark Bruley said his officers found Hortman and her husband shot around 3:30 a.m. The police were “proactively” checking on the couple after being contacted by Champlin Police following the earlier shooting at Hoffman’s home.
2 Democratic lawmakers in Minnesota were shot at by a violent right-wing killer who was motivated by anti-abortion animus: one was killed (State Rep. Melissa Hortman [D], along with her husband) and one was shot at (State Sen. John Hoffman [D] and his wife).
