Well my dear @kimageddon we are both in for it for the first one as you recall from our chats so here we go!

It was not that he was the sentimental type, if anything he found he was more than he thought possible. Much to the misfortune of those who were in the vicinity when he learned the fate of the Witch. 

Her absence felt everywhere and his anger encroached on where she had once been, it was unfair it was unjust…

It was…his muddled anger interrupted by the soft cry from the room next door. His anger will dispel for now, how can he be angry or upset. The little figure sat up in a too-large bed, her black curls mussed and blue eyes filled with tears. 

He was forever thankful little Danica had such eyes. In many a way, he was thankful she was only like him in the redness of her cheek and the stubbornness she gained twofold from him and…her…

“Another nightmare?” he asks ever so quietly. Danica nods and curls up close to the one person in the galaxy she had. 

“Tell me about Ma’Tri…it makes the nightmares go away” 

Though it pains him to remember, to recall, he will for her. 

“You are just like her…” and so Maul begins. 

Danica fell right to sleep after, a small smile on her face dreaming of someone long gone.

“This was your mother’s. I think she would want nothing more than fro you to have it” he had kept both halves of the long broken amulet. 

Danica jumped up and down in joy at the gift. Her Ma’tri’s necklace! She wore it proudly and happily. Her little hand held it tight as she read her many books.

There were many books in the Fortress where Maul and Dani resided, some of which had been hidden away prior. 

Ancient and binding that was handmade…and a darkness that whispered and promised. There was a reason why such books were best left hidden away. 

A wish, a promise, at a price of course. 

Stubborn the two were, Danica pouring over the books and Maul encouraging. 

In her spare time Danica traced her fingers over books with odd text. Small bumps that told her the words rather than seeing.

“You must have read that page hundreds of time now…” everything was set. 

“I want to make sure it works.” 

The small child had grown, still small but slightly taller. Taller than the bookstacks that occupied her room. She smiles happily, “I want to make sure you’ll really smile again”

It works, it truly does. She sees for the first time a genuine smile that reaches her father’s eyes and for the first time her Ma’Tri. Blue eyes look to hers stunned. 

It is the best and last sight she sees.

The joyous reunion is bittersweet, Maul and Zaiya call Danica’s name. The girl turns towards thier voices and takes a tenative step. She has always been clumsy…

“Danica…”

Another step hands out to keep balance. 

“We did it, I said we would…” she didn't share what the cost would be. 

She smiles at where she thinks they may be, “It was worth it.”
