Y’all ever think about how Keef is to Zim what Zim is to the Tallest?

Like, Keef is totally obsessed with Zim and thinks he’s Zim’s BFF, but he actually can’t stand him. Just like how Zim deludes himself into thinking he’s the Tallests’ favorite invader. But it’s not for no reason, because Zim manipulated Keef into thinking they were friends in the first place, just like the Tallest pretended to award him their most prestigious mission. Not to mention Zim subjected Keef to a bunch of tests to prove his worth, like Zim had to go through military training and exams to rise to the rank of Invader. Also, in a deleted scene from TNB, Zim would’ve had to fight a monster to “earn” his mission.

Zim also fears Keef will compromise his mission, but he won’t take “no” for an answer when Zim tells him to scram. So he has to come up with a way to redirect Keef away from him by using his belief in their friendship against him. Just like how the Tallest fear he’ll screw up OIDII, so they banish him to earth without actually telling him it’s a banishment.

Zim hates Keef because Keef’s cringe-ass clingy simp behavior reminds him of himself. He and Dib are both rightfully afraid of Keef because the only thing stopping him from being the same level of menace as Zim is a lack of access to the same destructive resources. Keef is the Zim of earth.
