I don’t know how anyone could not sympathise with Spike as a character all he wanted even when he was alive was someone to love him, which I think a lot of people can relate to or at least sympathise with and for a while he had that with Dru (sort of) but then she left and he was back where he started, only for him to to fall in love with Buffy. Who he was unquestionably completely head over heels in love with but she didn’t admit to loving him back. Yet he was so in love with her he would have done anything to get her to love him back he let her use him, he saved her, her sister and her friends countless times and he went through unimaginable trials to get his soul back to be worthy of her (yes I am ignoring that one scene it was completely out of character for him and I am of the mind that it was written so people wouldn’t like his character anymore) and yet no one treats him with even the slightest amount of kindness or respect the whole gang uses him and they do it blatantly.

I am not saying he was always right or that he didn’t do anything wrong in the show, of course he did he was the main villain in season 2 all I am saying is he definitely deserved better especially in the later seasons. I just can’t help but feel bad for the guy.

I don’t even think I have to mention how hypocritical Z*nder was about him and Buffy when his literal fiancé was a vengeance demon

Angel (not gonna lie, you thought angel was a total babe. he was broody and mysterious and protective and so hot. he was also indecisive as hell. he loved Buffy but still left her, just like he did with all the others in his life)

Anya Jenkins (you weren’t her biggest fan when she initially joined your friend group, but you eventually warmed up to her. however, you did learn (the hard way) not to wish for anything in front of her)

Buffy Summers (she was hands down the most selfless, bad-ass, loving person you will ever know in your entire life. she’s a fighter and she will always end up doing the right thing. your life to a very positive, albeit very wierd, turn when she entered it. you were forever grateful for her. GIRLS WILL ALWAYS KICK ASS)

Cordelia Chase (you were the one person who always understood her, even when you didn’t really. when you moved to sunnydale, cordy was your only friend. you weren’t the coolest kid out there, you were more of a loner. and for the first time in her life, she didn’t care. she took you in with open arms. she’s like your big sister now)

Daniel “Oz” Osbourne (you didn’t speak to him very much, he was willow’s ex-boyfriend. sure, he was a part of your friend group for a little while, but he kept to himself, mostly because xander wouldn’t shut up, but still)

Dawn Summers (you loved Dawn just as much as you love Buffy. you would babysit or chaperone her whenever need be. you helped her with school work and with boys. she and Buffy were grateful for you, as you were for them)

Faith Lehane (you and Faith clicked at first. and by clicked I mean hooked up... over and over and over again. and at first it felt good: you finally had someone who understood, who wasn’t always righteous. it wasn’t long until she betrayed you, leaving you to help the mayor. it hurt, boy did it hurt)

Rupert Giles (he was kind of like a father to you all. he was funny and kind and forgiving and understanding and SO DAMN SMART N RESOURCEFUL. you loved him, you all did)

Tara Maclay (the most understanding soul to have ever entered your life. she’s like everyone’s older sister and fun aunt at the same time. she wants to make sure everyone’s safe and happy and loved. honestly the best)

William the Bloody aka Spike (it’s not fair how hot he is. but that’s not all he is, honestly. with or without his soul, he cared. people called him a monster, sure, but he wasn’t nearly as bad as Angel was. in his worst form, he cared about dawn and buffy and joyce. and he calls himself a bad guy... sure, spike. sure)

Willow Rosenberg (she was a little bit of everything and you loved that. sure, at times, she got carried away with her magic, but she had tara and the rest of the scooby gang to make sure she was okay. the best thing about willow was that in her heart of hearts, she only wanted to do the right thing. she wanted to keep everyone safe. that’s why you guys always made sure to keep her safe.)

Xander Harris (xander was the biggest pain in the ass oh my god. he was not at all trusting of anyone in his life. he lowkey, sometimes highkey, judged everyone and all their life decisions and it never made sense to you. he wasn’t a bad person, just not your favorite person)

Cami walked away from Custard’s with three bowls, one vanilla that was packed up for Alo, one strawberry cheesecake for Ray and another of chocolate that she promptly popped the lid off of and began to greedily dig into. She was halfway to her car when she caught sight of a familiar face, one worthy of a full stop in her tracks. “Is that--” she began theatrically, squinting at the sun, “That can’t be my friend Zander Harris, could it?” The brunette walked over, the corner of her mouth hitched up in a grin. “Definitely isn’t, 'cause the Zander I know wouldn’t have gone this many weeks without poppin’ by to say hello.” Cami reached into her bag, holding out Alo’s icecream in offering. “How’ve you been? I bet Eli’s six feet tall now, it’s been so long since I’ve seen him.”

The more I rewatching Buffy, the more I realize just how much of a asshole Zander is. His character is like listening to nails on a chalk board repeatedly.
