when Zane first starts to have feelings for you, he doesn't know what to do. he's sure his power source is going haywire, or that he's short circuiting.
he self scans OFTEN
overheating anytime you look at him, and overheats more from the panic of not knowing what in the fuck is wrong with him.
as most of the ninja do- he goes to nya.
he explains everything, all of his symptoms, the way your glances make him panic and overheat.
she smiles almost immediately, instantly knowing that he's twitterpated.
he doesn't know what that is.
"you like them, Zane"
"yes, I do?"
he's simply confused as ever, but eventually nya seems to explain it well enough and his eyes light up at the realization
he likes you
it takes him a few months, but eventually works up the courage to ask you out
he'd planned the first date for weeks ahead of time
he wanted it perfect!
and, it was.
a nice picnic in a park, a beautiful lunch and hours of conversation
your first kiss was under a cherry tree, he initiated it.

in my mind, Zane Julien is a gigantic Bill Cipher fan and has a shrine of the triangle man in his room and looks at the screen saying "he's me fr..." when he finds out Bill accidentally destroyed a dimension and went insane because of it,, he starts yapping to Pixal about the inhuman weird guy who was different since birth but then ruined everything by accident,,, and just loves gravity falls in general and relates to the entire show (I could go on gigantic rants about how Zane would relate to just about every GF character if anyone gaf btw..),, but that's just me. anyways
After the events of decoded (i dont care if its not canon) he used the ninjigma as a place to put his most traumatic memories so he doesnt remember them
Tried to teach the others to cook and Cole’s came out the best and Kai was the one who burned down the kitchen
After decoded (it came after s7) he started hiding his core unless with the ninja or Pixal(or someone else he trusts if hes in danger)
He misses his falcon buddy (if hes alive please tell me i haven’t seen the falcon at all since season 8)
He sometimes masks when he feels like her did something wrong and the ninja always know when hes masking
When hes near the Mechanic he always feels a bit scared around him
Helps the others with there problem’s and sometimes forgets his own problems
Watches Snapcube and other funny videos with jay
Can have a tail but hides it most the time (he didnt know until season 7)
Doesnt like the feel of wool
Can be touchy and clingy in a relationship (he just likes to hold the person hes with)
Because that’s all he was able to feel while in his first Nindroid body.
He had very little taste sensation due to the limits of Julian’s tech, but he used similar sensors for his nervous system for his texture sensations
This is why Zane is such a good cook! Cause before he lived with the ninja he was disgusted by bad textures and so cooked things till they were palatable, giving him some great skills
this dude is insanely organized. i don't mean like objects and being neat—his schedule is immaculate. he has a routine from when he wakes up to when he sleeps (wu is so grateful for that)
he learns concrete examples quickly. he is great at copying other people & making it his own. he learned spinjitzu second right after jay because of the demonstration.
b/c he has a white gi, he knows how to remove all kinds of stains. not just by being a robot, but like experience. imagine having to fight an enemy & they roast you on your off white (like absolutely not that will never happen again)
he sleeps like a freaking vampire. on his back with his hands clasped at his chest.
i like to think that as the ice ninja, he's j unbothered by the cold. not that he runs really hot/cold or anything, but extreme cold temperatures don't bother him. he can never get hypothermia.
he's the second strongest after cole. after he learned he was a robot, he learned to use body mechanics to its fullest and can lift nearly anything. the only reason he lost to cole is that there's no physical way anyone can lift a mountain (except for the master of earth)
Zane headcanons because he’s the superior ninja (ft. angst and pixane a little further)
He frequently takes advantage of his nindroid-ness — when he got the chance, Borg updated his systems with new features too. Some of these include: being able to play media (like music or videos), and download books or other things to his system to read later — like a Kindle.
The other Ninja use Zane to figure out how crowded a store or restaraunt is beforehand since he can access security cameras or see enough of the building to guess the rest
Personality-wise, he’s generally very chill (pun intended). He was the first one to give Garmadon a chance when he came back, but sometimes the other Ninja will get listened to more/outspeak him even if Zane’s as vocal as them.
While the others are wild and loud, Zane’s more calm and secluded — its not that he doesn’t fit in, he does, but he wasn’t necessarily given the ability to match their crackheaded-ness
Out of all the Ninja, he’s probably closest to Jay. Both of them are/were treated different by Cole and Kai (Jay’s frequently teased for being an idiot or made fun of for the “stupid” things he does, or if he’s not catching onto a plan no one explains it. This happens in canon too) and that brought them closer together
He’s not very openly emotional. He doesn’t like talking about how he feels
Zane will sleep and eat in an effort to feel more human but he doesn’t shower or anything. Bathing a nindroid is much different than a human because you need to be more precise than just standing under water
Pixane Section - because its canon even if I don’t ship it that much
When the Overlord ended after season three, the public was suspicious/hesitant about the nindroids. They sort of knew Zane wasn’t an issue because he helped safe them, but they questioned why Borg would keep them around. As soon as Pixal fell under their suspicious, Zane was quick to defend her and convince everyone she wasn’t evil, that it wasn’t her fault
Pixal didn’t appreciate the protectiveness at first, though she did understand it. She did end up requesting for Zane to stop and it took a bit of convincing but he obliged, “as long as you remain safe”. They agreed Zane could defend her if she couldn’t at the moment
It took a lot of work for the Ninja to trust Pixal too and when it became clear Zane was going to leave if they didn’t, they finally started to work with her
It wasn’t until after Pixal became Samurai X that the Ninja accepted her as an official team member. She did stick around and help with things a lot once she was out of Zane’s head. Zane was the first to suggest this to the others
These two bring one another small gifts or other shiny things like crows. Their affection is shown more through this or spending time with one another doing something else (like working on repairing a mech for example), rather than physical touch or words
They’d be the type to stay up all night to get a break from the wildness of the Ninja and their daytime life, especially since neither of them really need sleep.
Angst-
Zane doesn’t feel worthy of human emotions so under most cases he will repress it and insist he doesn’t feel upset or anything whenever the Ninja ask
Sometimes if he’s having a rough night he’ll shut himself down and relax for a bit. He never does anything permanent but one time Nya found him like this and when he came back he had to demand she not tell anyone
While Kai’s unhealthy habit is fighting/alcoholism, Lloyd’s is overworking himself, and Cole’s is losing the will to continue fighting, Zane’s is shutting everyone out. If something really bad happens (i.e, someone on the team gets hurt badly and they don’t know if they’ll make it) he gets snappy and demanding to push people away
His determination to keep this teammate going will lead him to do just about anything, even if it hurts other people. If someone’s being threatened and they can’t find a way to get them safe, he’s the first to suggest they do something bad (example; talking to a villain that might be able to help)
Zane still has trauma from the times he’s died or something else has happened to him. He feels immense guilt for the events in the Never-Realm and frequently gets nightmares about what would happen if he did kill Lloyd. For a bit he wanted revenge against Vex but knew that would only cause more trouble
He goes into denial a lot. No matter how many times the facts may show something is hopeless, he will push again and again until he either can’t anymore or finds something they can use to defeat a villain. He really took “ninja never quit” to another level
After Wu vanished in season 7, he shut down for a few weeks. Zane turned everything off and disappeared into his own mind, and everyone was worried that he wasn’t coming back. He did come back at some point but Nya had to force his systems to reboot — it wasn’t willingly
He was furious at her for this and it was one of the only times the Ninja have seen him genuinely mad at someone. Zane stormed out after blowing up at her and headed off on his own for a bit before season 8 started and we saw him there
