Ninjago and Their Types

I don’t think any of the ninja are very strict when it comes to their ‘type’ but if they had to name their types…

Cole really just wants someone sweet. Someone that he can come back to after missions and just lay with, a calm in the storm.

Jay needs someone to balance him— not in  a mean scream at him way, but someone who can gently grab his face and guide him to face whatever he was meant to focus on.

Kai needs someone who can calm him down, especially within the earlier seasons. As the seasons continue, he needs less of a person who can calm him down to a person who can listen when he rants while the two of you cuddle.

Lloyd needs someone he can trust. He has been through a lot, and having someone he trusts enough to just vent to is really what he needs.

Nya needs support. Out of all the ninja she was sidelined the most and underestimated so if you just believe in her and tell her how cool you think she is? Yeah, she needed that.

Zane wouldn’t like someone who causes him too much stress. He’d probably like someone smarter and maybe quieter.

He’s a cuddle bug

Zane Julien

He has a protocol when you’re sick, of course

MONITOR

He knows you’re sick before you even feel it

He notices how your breathing is getting more shallow, how you grow slower, how your cheeks grow flushed

He won’t say anything, but he’s aware

ASSESS

Once you’re sick sick, he starts his routine

Checks your temperature with his hand which doubles as a thermometer

Checks your throat for irritation

Routinely asks how you feel on a scale of 1-10

TREATMENT

If you feel too warm, he’ll cool his body down and vice versa if you’re too cold

He’ll make you ice packs, set up a bath, and then a shower

Bath to help with your temperature, shower to wash it all off

COMFORT

This is the same whether you’re sick or just having a bad day

He’s very verbally affectionate

He’ll happily explain how amazing you are

And he’s so factual you believe him

He kinda does whatever draws the best response from you

He’s… awkward, but we love him

He didn’t grow up in a nurturing environment

Growing up with the ninjas helped him work past it, but he’s still not used to it

He’s honestly a bit of all of them, but he’s really similar to Kai

They’re brothers, fight me

When he sees you aren’t feeling well, he acts a bit odd

Mainly because he doesn’t really know… what… to do

Especially if you’re sick

He does not have a good immune system in my opinion

But he’s trying to help you. From afar.

He brings you soup and comfort foods which are made by Zane

He’ll watch whatever trashy romcom you want

He just misses your smile

When you’re asleep, he’ll brush some hair out of your face and press a kiss to your nose

Ian makes custom levels as simulator training for the defibrillator. Cole gets access to the editor at some point during the story to share music memes with the intern (stuff like rhythm hell). This experience with the software helps him while composing his song during Act 7

Cole Headcanons

Okay so this might be offensive to some but i headcanon cole as the stinky disgusting ninja.

-his feet stink

-his socks stink

-he sweats 24/7

-His armpits are hairy 🤢🤮

-his balls sweaty and hairy aswell

-takes off his shoes during class

-farts at dinner while everybody is eating

Not meant racist/ he is the earth ninja

It’s canon that he pees in the pool m his feet stink

And it’s basically canon that he sweats all the time cuz he is the strongest

might i ask,, about cole general headcanons :3 anything about him im just curious

Ooh good Q, I haven't spoken much about Cole! Which is criminal honestly bc I really do love him. Here are some Cole HCs:

He got his love for cake from his mom. She always went all out on them for special events or just to cheer Cole up, so when he eats cake it reminds him of her.

He has lasting trauma from being a ghost, particularly from not having a strong connection to his element (due to not being completely corporeal). He still has nightmares about it sometimes. The thing that helps the most is touching the ground with his bare hands.

For identity stuff, I hc him as gay and demisexual. (He definitely only engaged in the love triangle to make Jay mad. He had a crush on Jay. Also, he liked the attention Nya and Vanya would give him, he just couldn't reciprocate)

In a similar vein, Cole's love language is physical touch and that mf is touch starved ALL the time. It's another thing that helps him feel "grounded" (see: literally any scene with him and Geo in DR)

+ speaking of Geode:

Their relationship developed so naturally that they were practically dating for a long time before they verbally put a label on it. The only reason they finally do, is bc their kiddos blatantly ask "are you gonna get married?"

Geo loves watching Cole dance/dancing with him, even though Cole insists his history with dance is "embarassing".

Geo also encourages Cole to draw more, since he kind of dropped that habit.

Cole headcanon time !!! OKAY GUYS HEAR ME OUT;

Cole & his dad used to move around a LOT throughout his childhood because of his dads job, this obviously being a problem because Cole never got to experience long term friendships. He thought he’d never have life-long friends until he started training to be the Master of Earth & met the other ninja !!!

(Angsty-ish) Cole headcanons cuz he’s my favorite

1. When he’s overwhelmed/freaking out to the point his hands shake, the ground around him starts to shake as well without him realizing. The fastest way to stop this is if he or someone else holds his hands still.

2. He’s been trained in several “official” forms of dance (contemporary, ballet, waltz, etc.)

3. He developed a general fear of heights after The Fall, and it’s impacted him enough that things he used to enjoy, such as rock climbing, are now anxiety inducing. Because of his job as a ninja, he had to essentially Suck It Up™️, but that didn’t stop it from hindering both himself and the others/mission.

4. ^ because of this, when his thoughts/troubles got to much for him, instead of climbing mountains, he turned to food as a form of comfort. His friends/Wu do eventually help him through his fear of heights so it doesn’t affect him as much, but the fear never truly 100% goes away.

5. Post ghost form he had a habit of walking face first into walls/people. Even now when he’s tired he’ll still sometimes do it.

6. I think it’s safe to assume Cole in canon has at least some self confidence issues at this point. When the self doubt gets really bad, his powers will reflect the worst case scenario he’s envisioned (ex: he assumes his power won’t be enough for something and when he goes in for the earth punch, its like getting hit w a pillow)

7. Will fight a child for the last slice of cake at a birthday party (the ninja were invited as a surprise for the birthday boy. The child cole fought was, in fact, said birthday boy)

8. Cole’s habit of talking to himself grows to the point that he essentially rubber duckies himself when problem solving anything. He will do this in front of the other ninja and will just straight up not hear them when they try to help him with the issue. But also they have watched this mam have a full on back and forth conversation about a show he didn’t like before.

9. While caring for baby Wu, he gained the habit of going to check on him when he had trouble sleeping at night, tucking him in and sitting with him for a bit. After Wu returns to his actual age the habit never really goes away, but Cole is embarrassed about it so he tries to be extra super ninja sneaky when he pulls the covers up over Wu’s shoulders after his blanket had fallen a bit. Wu knows he does this but pretends to be asleep, after all why stop a kind gesture if it brings comfort to both involved.

10. Because of his lava arms, Cole (and Lloyd) are the only ones that don’t get easily burned by Kai’s fire. They’re usually the ones in charge of holding him back/cooling him down if physical touch is needed.

Surprise Jay headcanon jumpscare:

Since there are toys of the ninja, Jay goes out of his way to purchase all the misprint/goofy looking dolls of them all and proudly displays his growing collection much to everyone’s annoyance (especially Kai. They NEVER get his face right)

I don’t usually like mixing canon with like the real world, but late night post on what IRL nationalities I headcanon the Ninja as:

Lloyd: Japanese American. Specifically Anglican American cause Misako gives off white mom energy.

Kai: Korean Scottish. No good reasons I just like the idea of him being Celtic descendant

Jay: Japanese Australian. Idk if it’s the desert of doom vibes of Australia but Jay also has a kinda free spirited energy that’s stereotypical of Australians.

Zane: Yakut Russian. I think it’s the haircut, definitely could see an AU where Zane escapes the Russian draft /hj

Cole: Filipino African American. I could see an Au with his mother being a dancer and his father being a major 70’s singer songwriter. The fame gets to him sometimes and at school he specifically avoids saying his last name so people don’t recognize it.

Nya: Korean Scottish

Wu: Japanese. I like the idea of Wu being a first generation immigrant to the US and Lloyd being the grandson who’s obsessed with his lineage.

Garmadon: Japanese. Same reason

Harumi: Edo Japanese/ Vietnamese. The Edo Japanese are native to Hokkaido and during the Meiji era when Japan annexed the island the Edo people were treated like second class subhumans to serve the Japanese invaders. I think it fits due to her family being clearly working class in the show.

Morro: Definitely Edo Japanese. He was homeless as a child and I could totally see his family either abandoning him for monetary reasons or him being an orphan in the foster care system.
