note : some of these aren’t even that angsty but i just really wanted some character death
Yoimiya (denial)
It just doesn’t make sense.
What do they mean you’re gone? You were still here with her yesterday, discussing what kind of fireworks to use on Anna’s birthday, roaming around town to stock up on materials, lying in bed with her fingers threading your hair at night. How could you just suddenly… not exist?
She suspects that it will simply take time for it to sink in, but weeks pass, then months, yet she never gets to make peace with the fact that you were gone.
How could she, when she still looks for you in your untouched room, still thinks about you when she’s eating your favorite food?
There are days when she finds herself needing to share with you some entertaining encounters she had, only to remember that she no longer has the privilege.
Even years after your passing, she still keeps her eyes out for you on the streets, as if you’ve simply been travelling elsewhere.
Childe (anger)
At first Ajax is angry at the bringers of the news for even daring to say something so ghastly about you, though he is soon forced to face reality.
Then he’s blinded by fury, storming out of the hospital with red in his eyes. You bet he won’t stop until he finds the ones responsible for your death so that he can watch the regret scream on their faces every time he drives them near the brink of death.
Still he knows that no matter how much he lashes out at them, nothing can bring you back.
In his solitude, he confronts the truth: of course he’s enraged at those who laid their hands on you, but on top of that there is anger directed at himself.
He should’ve been able to protect you, he should’ve gone out with you, he shouldn’t have let it happen, these self-inflicted blames are to plague his days to come, for it was his carelessness that costed him the only person who keeps his nightmares at bay.
Kaeya (bargaining)
On the outside, Kaeya looks like he’s coping with your passing pretty well— as well as one can be, anyways.
But in the dead of night, alone in his grotesquely quiet room, his deepest feelings shine through. Circling the half-empty wine bottle on the floor, he wonders how it is that he can never keep the ones he loves around long enough.
He wants you back, so badly that he would do anything. He would pray to any god, look for any unorthodox methods, if just for a slim chance to feel you in his arms one more time.
If he could just turn back time, he can fix it all.
Of course, most people aren’t aware that he’s been hoping for the impossible. He knows that they will only look at him with that disgusting look of pity, so he puts on a facade and plays his role.
But sometimes, when everyone else has gone home and the only thing keeping the tavern alive is the noises Diluc makes as he cleans his glasses, the red-haired often finds his teary-eyed brother clutching his forearm, slumped forward while mumbling about how he would do anything if he could just help bring you back.
Dainsleif (depression)
You never knew that he loved you, not when it mattered.
The burden of his curse and the weight of history hasmade it hard for him to care for another, but you were a bright exception. You were the sole flower blooming in the dry, parched land, the safety Dainsleif never dared dream of having.
That Is precisely why he couldn’t have you. Even though it hurt the both of you, he knew the only way to keep you safe was for him to stay far away. So he kept his distance, even though it felt like his numb heart was being torn to pieces every single time.
The funny thing is that it did nothing— all the heartbreak and dull aches were worthless as he cradled your dying form in his arms. It was the closest he’d ever been to you.
Dainsleif is familiar with losses, but this one is particularly hard to carry. His heart succumbs to a deep, frozen winter, clinging to him like a dead weight.
He now knows more than ever that there’s no salvation awaiting him, and that love is just a luxury he can’t afford.
Thoma (depression)
Once the initial shock passes, all that remains is the gaping hole in his heart.
The thing about your death that haunts him the most is that he will never live out his life with you. All those plans and talks about him guiding you around Mondstadt, opening a pet cafe near Ritou… they’ve all vanished into smoke.
There are still so many things he wants to experience with you— relationship milestones, travelling around the world, maybe even starting a warm, lovely family.
But because time is merciless and doesn’t look kindly on those who spend time wishing instead of doing, it takes away the most precious treasure from him.
He tries to heal, really he does. He works with tripled efforts, spends all his time running errands around Inazuma, keeps himself busy so as not to leave any opening for grief to sneak in.
Yet there is only so much he can do to protect himself against sorrow. After all, it is a raging thunderstorm capable of destroying even the strongest man. If Ayaka hears his muffled cries at night, she doesn’t say a word of it, and Ayato knows better than to try and console a man who has had his present and future stolen in one breath.
Zhongli (acceptance)
Zhongli is no stranger to grief. Over the centuries he has seen people succumb to the corrosion of time, so much that he has the illusion that he’s somehow made peace with grief.
That is until you’re gone.
He knew from the first day that you wouldn’t be with him forever, he just never expected death to be so impatient that it took you early.
In the eyes of an outsider he looks tranquil, but that is only because he is not used to displaying his emotions in big letters on his face. Deep inside, the cracks that have healed over his heart are tearing at the seams again, and your sudden end leaves him with regrets he could never hope to overcome.
Just how many times must he see those he holds close leave this world? He finds himself pondering this question sometimes, even though it’s pointless. He is eternal, mortals are not, and now even you have become history.
With you gone, he feels as though life is missing a fundamental color. The world is less due to your absence. To fill the void in his ribs, he finds himself lingering around your grave with flowers most of the time.

Zhongli lulls you to sleep with his voice 😭😭 pls I fell in love with his voice and listening to him eases my stress and helps me fall asleep 🥺🤲
Hi! Thank you for being my first official request!!! And honestly, that’s me with Victor’s voice from Mr. Love Queen’s Choice. It’s just magic.
Okay wow uhhhhh after a wiki deep-dive and lots of research I present thee with this! I hope you like it <3
You and Zhongi were relaxing on the couch after a long day. It was just the two of you, going back and forth about nothing in particular. Just listening to his voice you could feel yourself nodding off. Having woken up so early, you could feel the exhaustion creeping up on you.
Slowly, you laid your head on Zhongli’s shoulder and let your eyes fall shut. You could feel a small chuckle resonate through your body as he turned to you. “What is it, my love? Is everything alright, or am I just boring you?” He said, with jest in his tone.
You took a deep breath and responded, eyes still closed, “’M okay. You’re not boring me. Jus’ tired is all.” You linked your arm with his, pulling his shoulder closer as you got comfortable.
“If you’re tired we can go to bed early.” He suggested, to which you shook your head.
“No, I’m comfy here on the couch. Plus I—” you yawned, “I don’t think I have the energy to walk there.”
“Well, then how about this?” He asked, pulling you into his chest as he reclined, laying on the couch.
You could hear the strong, steady beat of his heart through his shirt and jacket. Sighing in content, you answered, “Perfect...” Intertwining your legs with his and wrapping your arms around his waist, you looked up at him, to find him gazing back at you with nothing but love and contentment in his eyes. You knew he loved you. You knew that. But there was something about the way that he looked at you when you weren’t looking back that made your heart skip a beat and your cheeks start to flush.
Averting your gaze, you rested your cheek against his chest and began to speak. “ Could you, um, maybe, just talk?”
He looked at you quizzically, “Talk?”
“Yeah, it’s just... I guess your voice is so soothing that just hearing it helps me relax. Especially after a long day.” You clarified. “You don’t have to, though, if it’s too much. Honestly, it’s fine.” You said, backtracking quickly. You felt a bit embarrassed if you were being candid. It wasn’t exactly a conventional request.
He laughed and you felt the rumble all throughout your body. It almost made you shudder. Stroking your hair, he spoke. “No, it’s fine. I just don’t quite know what to talk about.”
Turning to look at him, you rest your chin on his chest. “Well... It really doesn’t matter. You could read something. Recite something from memory. Even going on about how to make the perfect cup of tea would be amazing. I just guess I really need to hear your voice.” You finished that sentence in a small voice, resting your cheek back on his chest and taking in his heartbeat once more.
“Then, that’s what I’ll do. Anything for you, love.” And that’s precisely what he did. Gently, he ran his hand over your back in rhythmic motions. Then your waist. Then your arms. All to help you fall fast asleep.
You weren’t quite sure what the last thing he said was, though. It felt like the minute you felt his voice reverberating through you, your fate was sealed. You just fell into a deep sleep.
As you slept, Zhongli just gazed down at you. In all his years, he never thought he would be able to be a person someone could just fall asleep on. Sure, he had been worshipped. Revered, even. But he wasn’t sure if it was out of respect or fear of the consequences. Even so, he was sure he wouldn’t change anything in his life if it meant that he couldn’t be here in this moment with you. Kissing the top of your head, he sunk back into the pillow, and with a silent ‘I love you,’ he, too, fell fast asleep feeling the rise and fall of your chest against his. That was his comfort. Knowing you were here, alive, with him, and that you weren’t going anywhere in the present moment.
I’M FINALLY AR 23 IN GENSHIN I want to see my dad Tails, I want to hang out with Zhongli and drink tea by the harbour as the sun sets and he tells me stories about his life as Rex Lapis
