Zincite is always fascinating. The color variations and crystallinity can be so different from piece to piece. The shimmering effect in the light is one of my favorite aspects of Zincite. Zincite has one of the most interesting story’s in my opinion: Found in natural naturally, but very small and fragile, it is not the most common or touch friendly. However, a Zinc based paint factory in Poland 🇵🇱 found that as they made the paint, Zinc crystals were growing in between the walls!!! Though they were not technically grown in the earth, they have the same chemical composition as the crystals grown in the earth, and it was a happy accident that they were formed. They are very dense and the crystals range in colors from blues, greens and yellows, to the most coveted orange-ish red like this specimen. They are also more easily handled, though still delicate and can be sharp. The paint factory did clean up their equipment to make it more efficient which stopped the crystals from growing unfortunately. This leaves very little left on the market anymore. 🧡 Zincite can be used to clear disoriented mental facilities and for clearing the mind of unwanted thoughts. Zincite was found in the Tarnowskie Gory smelter in Upper Silesia, Poland in the 70's where zinc was smelted. In the 90's environmental regulations were imposed on Zinc smelters ending the collection of Zincite. This small green crystal is a great example of a zincite.
