Surprise Attack.
I know you're hoping desert skies
will turn back to blue soon
but tonight their lies
will catch up with you.
Call out to your crew
and hope they call back.
Expect an attack
and if the scarecrows arrive fast
before your crew
make sure they die last
and hope that you don't too.

anyways i don't think cloudy with a chance of meatballs is a magnum opus or anything but there's such a subtle theme of how everything you create from passion has value. so many of flint's inventions that were presented as failures earlier on the film end up contributing to the resolution. the tv on legs shows sam sparks's emergency broadcasts; the rat-birds save flint's life in the end; his spray-on shoes literally stop the machine; the flying car allows them to reach the machine; the monkey-thought translator allows flint and his dad to communicate in a meaningful, productive manner. in this way, these "failed" inventions solve multiple problems on multiple levels.
and then even with the FLDSMDFR (the food machine) that becomes the antagonist, this theme is present. it was flint's desire to please others, to misuse his inventions for others (the mayor most primarily), that caused the FLDSMDFR to go out of control. earlier in the film it was a wondrous invention: the jello for sam, the ice cream snow for that one dude's kid, that first cheeseburger rain that caused so much happiness. it was only when flint was manipulated to "be better" that things went wrong.
and i don't know, just something about the inherent value of the things you create from passion, the things that are created for you by you, are never failures. it's easy to want to create by someone else's definition of better, but the result is often destruction and the loss of your creativity. and only by realizing the value of the things you've created can you heal. so. yeah. the things you make have value because you made them. keep doing that even if you can't see this
guys my step sister's fiance's girlfriend's step uncle's dad works at the CW and he told me I could see the Fullmetal Alchemist live-action reboot script as long as I prommy’d not to share it with anyone. oopsies
