Light Beams (Bearded Iris)

I’m fucking bummed. These Bearded Iris beers have brought so much joy into my life that the feeling could only be described as losing your virginity or waking up on Christmas morning but now with this one, they’re gone. Saying that Bearded Iris is “great” is a huge fucking understatement kind of like saying Aaron Hernandez will be out for the 2018 season with a neck injury would be a huge understatement because these guys excel in basically everything they brew. I decided to end my journey through their lineup with Light Beam figuring that since I’m not huge on the style it would help make it easier to say goodbye but of course they had to make even this taste great so all I can really say now is DAMN YOU BEARDED IRIS! I don’t think I even cried this much after watching What Dreams May Come or Grave Of The Fireflies but I guess I’ll get over it eventually…one day… Anyways, this beer has a nice malty cracker like start to it with some floral hops and pineapple like flavors mixing in towards the middle before ending with those classic pilsner flavors along with more floral goodness. If you didn’t already know, it takes roughly 8 minutes for the sun’s light beams to reach the earth but it only took me 8 seconds to realize that this beer is good so basically I’m saying I’m better than the sun so take that mother nature! I just made you my little bitch! If this is your first of the style you are in luck because this is such a perfect beginner’s beer so make sure you pick this up along with your membership form for the Bastard Drinking Club. For the pros, snag a can and enjoy because this is everything you are looking for in the style. Whoop whoop!

Eppig Brewing’s Zwickelbier on tap at the brewery. A 3 of 4. Clean and good -- relatively standard lager nose with some nice floral and herbal notes. Some nice light grain sweetness in the body and more herbal/grassy qualities in the finish. Easy-drinking and has everything you’d want.

Spectra (Ecliptic)

I knew it. Ecliptic are a bunch of perverts because I just so happened to find out that Spectra is a brand of breast pumps. I can just picture these predators now looking through a window waiting for a woman to bust her titties out to either feed her youngin’ or pump some milk for later while touching themselves so do me a favor and keep an eye on these guys. They drive a Kia Spectra and wear Spectra helmets while cheering on Sally Spectra from The Bold And The Beautiful while reading Spectra books and drawing pictures of Spectra Vondergeist from Monsters University so it shouldn’t be too hard to pick them out. Actually, I’m pretty sure they are referring to the plural of “spectrum” when they named this beer but who knows, they might actually be a bunch of pervs. This is a great example of the style and my only real knock on this brew is that it’s the last of the Ecliptics I have for now which fucking sucks Ken Jeong’s mushroom infant dick. This has a great floral hop flavor to it starting things off with a nice bite before some malt sweetness mixes in keeping things light and refreshing before ending with some more hops and malt mixing together perfectly. If you are skeptical on the style because you’ve tasted some duds before, I assure you this is not one of them because this packs a lot of flavor and is as refreshing as showering under a waterfall in the Hawaiian wilderness. If you are new to the style or new to craft, drink this. If you are old the the style or old to craft, drink this. Basically, if you fucking breath oxygen, pick this beer up because it is a solid brew and if you don’t breath oxygen, get the hell out of here because you are the undead.
