I feel this is supposed to indicate a mispronunciation - as the name of the klyntar is actually “Zzxz” - but...how is the name actually supposed to be pronounced?
I typically read it as “Zzeez” but I know that’s most likely wrong.
One completely unrelated to the Venom symbiotes and their line - simply a member of the same species.
They’ve never been to Earth or met Spider-Man either.
Although they’ve come in to conflict with the Nova Corps and X-Men when they came into space and have an...odd, relationship with the Shi’ar.
Speaking of, odd, Zzxz as an entity is very odd.
At a glance, they seem like a typical parasitic klyntar - one who eats up people and goes through hosts like socks.
And they are all that.
They are a carnivore and hosts are nothing but batteries to be drained up, one even making this plea when Zzxz is briefly wounded enough for them to talk:
It was a horrible scene.
But, despite being parasitic - they do not act at all like a member of the Klyntar Empire. In fact, there’s a strong implication that they are not a part of that branch of their people, despite their parasitic nature.
For one thing there’s what is said here:
They showed up, alone, in Shi’ar territory where they started eating people before being captured for study.
The reason they were captured for study - is because, while they were familiar with symbiotes as a species, the Shi’ar were extremely confused by the fact Zzxz ate brains.
This is to the point that they thought that trait unique of the one they had.
So clearly, they have not encountered the Empire and Shi’ar space is nowhere near the parasitic branch’s territory.
In hindsight, it seems like the Shi’ar were likely familiar with the Agents of the Cosmos klyntar.
And this wasn’t the Empire suddenly making a move.
When they show up, they show up in hordes like what happened on Earth:
And again, Zzxz was alone - no-one with them and no-one coming after them.
Seemingly suggesting they’re a sort of rogue.
They certainly have a highly unusual level of individuality.
For instance a name:
It’s misspelt here, but that’s their individual name.
A thing klyntar don’t tend to do.
Not a joint one like “Venom” that’s dependent on a host either - hosts have no will at all with them. They’re meat puppets.
Their teammate there is addressing specifically, singularly, the klyntar.
Speaking of - yes, the team is another odd thing:
After being released from capture, Zzxz is put by the Shi’ar into the Praetorians - Praetorians being a group of Imperial Guardsmen.
And like...they could have very easily just gone bye.
It’s not hard for a klyntar to slip off and they ostensibly had no reason to stay - why would a brain-eater care about having their criminal record erased?
But they did stay.
Loyally.
As seen up there, they weren’t even just an attack dog, they seemed to interact with other teammates and contribute to forming plans.
In fact, they were so loyal to the Praetorians that they even remained with them after they all were captured, when it really would have been great for them to just bounce.
As you absolutely would expect a parasitic klyntar who should only care about survival and food to do.
But they made no attempt to abandon them. Not once.
Honestly, I’m gonna say it: Zzxz, for some reason, seems to absolutely outright Stan the Shi’ar Empire.
In a weird parasitic klyntar sort of way.
Their favourite food and hosts definitely seem to be members of the Shi’ar Empire.
With them going full Yandere when they get the chance to potentially bond with a member of their royal family - Lilandra Neramani.
And like, they weren’t even interested in the super-powered X-Men about.
Just her.
Then there’s also them proceeding to loyally serve the Empire as a member of the Praetorians - as well as them turning up in Shi’ar territory in the first place.
Presenting the question of where they came from and how they ended up Stanning them.
And honestly, I think the most likely answer is that they’re from Haze Mancer’s stock:
He’s a symbiote poacher who snatches klyntar from their home planet - Agents of the Cosmos territory - deliberately corrupts them and then sells them off.
It would explain a lot and no other explanation matches.
For instance: This would explain a corrupted klyntar showing up, alone, in an area familiar with benevolent ones.
And their odd team-work behaviour.
As for their Shi’ar stanning nature, they were likely sold off to someone from the Shi’ar empire.
And most of them are definitely fanatical enough that this could rub off a symbiote.
This being one of their children citing her life ambitions-
Although obviously they still ate that host in the end - something Mancer notably does not promise up there, that they cannot do.
Just that they cannot run off from the host while bonded - and well, you’re not bonded anymore if there’s nothing of the host left.
So, in conclusion, that’s what I think Zzxz’s deal is.
Zzxz, who is still out there somewhere by the way.
Last seen snacking on some giant cosmic brain:
And there’s been no indication they went back to jail.
So perhaps they hijacked a Warbird sent to pick them up or something and are off puppeteering that poor, poor soul somewhere.
T’would fit their usual modus operandi.
Definitely off somewhere eating people and probably off doing some pro-Shi’ari stuff too.
Although exactly what, who can say.
For now, all post-brain stuff is mere speculation.
But I hope what I said on what came before at least, was useful!
Giants still walk the earth. International relations cannot be understood if the
role of the individual is ignored. Critics may still contend that we have focused
on exceptions. And indeed we have. Yet such exceptional individuals knit the
tapestry of history: Explaining international relations while ignoring Hitler,
Bismarck, Napoleon, and other monumental figures is like trying to understand
art or music without Michaelangelo or Mozart.
