As a South Asian person, Asian people are not allowed to get mad at Black people for boycotting Asian businesses and stores.
Instead your anger and rage should be channeled towards the man who, back in May 2023, chased 14 year old Cyrus Carmack Belton down for allegedly stealing 4 water bottles (which he didn’t) and shot him. This took place in Richmond County, South Carolina.
Rick Chow was the man who took the life of a 14 year old boy for a crime he didn’t commit just because he was Black. Because of this, Cyrus and his family didn’t get the justice they deserved, and Rick Chow was found not guilty.
The Asian community has a lot to answer for when it comes to anti-blackness because this isn’t the first time it happened.
In March 1991, Latasha Harlins was shot dead at 15 in LA by Soon Ja Du who was a Korean American convenience store owner. Latasha was shot in the back of the head over her allegedly stealing a bottle of orange juice which she didn’t. While Soon Ja Du’s sentencing was convicted, her sentencing was light, and she was free shortly after.
Both of them were just kids. They had lives, families, and dreams.
How many more Black children have to suffer just because of the colour of their skin?
Justice for Cyrus Carmack Belton and Latasha Harlins. May they both rest in power.

How do you do expressions on mustelids? I'm making a marbled polecat and I'm trying to figure out how to work with that and you're the only artist I know that draws them how I would want to. No pressure to answer this though! /Gen
Hopefully my disorganized notes make sense .... but of course my way of drawing mustelids is mostly informed by the character ever of Fig & for good expressions you really gotta refer to --> Synconium

is it just me or have people really stopped writing tags under art reblogs
this is a really strange take because artists whose works are in museums only don't get to hear these thoughts because they're dead. living artists who exhibit their works in galleries (and also on tumblr dot com) very much would like to hear what people think of their work. that they exhibit. for them to see.
But do you just want fanfare? Raucous noise?
Or nuanced discussion about the work? People trying to figure out your process or what you're trying to tell.
Because I argue that requires a lot more effort than people are willing to put in during their off time. During their escapism.
Is there not a way to conceive of a new age gallery/museum format? Don't get me wrong, tags and live blogging are absolutely great. But not everyone who wants to love art as well can bring the adequate nuanced love in an interaction with every piece that an artist shares, when there is admittedly an overabundance via propoganda, ads, and the online platforms
you're overthinking it. I don't need nuanced discussions of every piece of my art, just a simple keysmash if you enjoyed it will do
should i upend my entire life and everything i've known to go live somewhere in the desert or go live in LA, your choice!
