Too tired to make meaningful commentary but there's something interesting about the way every other relationship in the game has to be rebuilt manually each run, lest you get institutionalized.

Except 2: Sym, who just is like, 'oh we were besties in your last life? Okay neat!' And slams right up to 40, 80, and 100% relationship if you pick the past life dialogues for him, and Congruence, who jumps to full relation immediately if you know her SUDO code.

Y'know.

So they follow video game save state logic. Even in their relationships.

(Actual extradiagetic reason for this is probably because Sym is outside the colony and thus you cannot build relationship with him trivially like everyone else, but you need very high relationship with him to broker peace. Actual diagetic reason is probably 'you are literally Sym's Blorbo and this is his self insert xenophilia fanfiction'. But my way is funnier.)
