“So! I guess we’re teammates now, huh?” Tai is nothing but smiles as he approaches Raven, who was gathering her things to move to the dorm. He already had his backpack slung over his shoulder. 

“I’m sure this is going to be great! I’m honestly super glad that I passed initiation and everything! Were you worried at all about getting in?”

summer always woke up ungodly early, and this day was no different. only, instead of staying in the kitchen to watch coffee brew, she headed back into the bed. a soft song left summer as she caressed tai's cheek, her wing blocking out the sunlight that peaked through the window

Normally the sun would hit his eyes just right and that would be his wake up call. Normally he would go downstairs to his loving partner and they would have a nice breakfast together before Yang and the baby woke up. But today was different. There was no bright light stinging at his eyes. Instead, there was a soft song and a touch to his cheek, gently pulling him from his slumber. He let out a soft groan, knowing the source of course. Arms reach out to wrap their way around Summer’s waist and pull her closer.

“I could get used to this...” Tai said sleepily, blue eyes opening just slightly to gaze at his love.

"does it look... bad...?" feline inquires gently, one hand lifted to twirl a few short strands of black hair around her finger, golden hues darting back and forth seemingly everywhere but in her father's direction, "i cut it myself, so it's not perfect..."

To see his daughter come home with short hair was quite the surprise. It hadn’t been this short in many many years. But to say it looked back would be an all out lie. Shocked gaze softens to a smile, reaching a hand out to lightly touch the ends.

“Hardly, Blake. I think it looks quite nice. Though it could do with a clean up.” He chuckles warmly, placing his hand on her shoulder. “Did you know I had long hair when I was younger? I had a lot of ways I would style it when it was this length. I could show you if you’d like.”

She’s silent for a few moments, the words of her brother circling through her head. “...Okay, Jaune, Where have you been hiding my jar of nutella this time? And don’t think I didn’t notice it missing.”

“Hey kiddo.” Tai smiles warmly as his youngest daughter comes down the stairs. It’s been about a week since everything that happened at Beacon. Life was different now in such a strange, unsettling way. But at least for now, Patch was safe. Their home was safe. A pocket of sanctuary in an otherwise unforgiving world.

“I was thinking we could make a pot of sauce today. We’ve got some butternut squash ready to pick and if we go to the farmers market, we can get more and have a lot of noodles. How do you feel about running some errands with me?”

The ever dutiful butler stays close to Weiss unless otherwise occupied. Klein cared for all of the Schnee children, but it would be hard to deny that Weiss was his favorite. And having watched her grow all these years? Well it made an old man very proud of his little snowflake. Bowing gently as he approached, a portly hand reached out to take the cup of coffee from her. The pot was still warm, so she could still have her drink.

“Well, Miss Schnee, if you ask me the family name is in incredibly good hands.” He dumps the drink down the drain before refilling the mug and adjusting it just the way she likes it. “You may be stuck here for now, but I am certain that it won’t be that way forever. Between you and your sister, both out there doing your best to make a difference? Well, it shows the true spirit of the Schnees!”

{ Ciara Briggs & Zhou Xiao Long }

Ciara Briggs was born in Mistral to a single mother. She came from a one night stand with a huntsman many months prior. Once her mother had enough strength, she left for Vale to find the baby’s father. The baby’s father was Avery Briggs, a huntsman who graduated from Beacon Academy. Now together with who would eventually be his husband, a man named Vincent Forsberg, Ciara’s mother left her with her father. She wanted nothing to do with the child, and went on her way. 

Avery and Vincent raised Ciara very well, caring for her and loving her as best they could. Avery still went on missions with his good friend Cha Lu ( now commonly known as Shopkeep @volarent​ ) and despite his frequent absences, Ciara loved her father incredibly. 

She grew close with Lu and his husband’s eldest daughter, the two planning to date when Ciara returned from a long trip to Mistral. Now a grown woman, she was set on finding her mother. To get closer on her. Avery had always been open about her mother but she wanted answers for herself. It was on this journey that she met Zhou Xiao Long.

WARNING: The following section of this headcanon includes dark themes. These themes include abuse, drug use, and rape. Please read at your own discretion. 

Zhou and Ciara met at a bar one night. Zhou was incredibly pushy about wanting to take Ciara home for the night. She was adamantly not interested, repeating over and over that she was taken. Zhou would not take no for an answer and when Ciara wasn’t paying attention, he slipped something into her drink. He took her home that night after the drugs had done their job and had his way with her. Ciara was devastated in the morning. She didn’t know what had happened, though Zhou told her that she had gotten drunk and pushed herself on him. She had never been that drunk before, and so she took his words at face value. She was so distraught that she had betrayed her beloved. She stayed in a hotel in the capital, avoiding her scroll and just trying to find her mom. Then she could go home and forget it all happened. 

But then she learned that she was pregnant. Unsure of what to do, she went to Zhou. After all, the child had to be his. He was the only one she had sex with since she arrived in Mistral. Learning on her pregnancy, Zhou promised to make things right by marrying her. He whispered words into her mind that her family would be so disappointed. That she should just stay in Mistral and forget her life in Vale. Between her fears about being pregnant, and the shame she felt for sleeping with some random man, she agreed.

Thus began a long cycle of abuse from Zhou. Ciara, believing she had no where to go, just took it. For the sake of her baby. She was beaten for disobeying her husband, starved for not keeping up with the cleaning. It was a miracle that the baby was born as healthy as he was, considering Ciara’s weak body. She decided on the name Taiyang, often calling him her little ray of sunshine. The abuse got worse as Tai was born, but Ciara took all of it in order to protect her baby. For months she thought about leaving but she was far too weak. Just a few months before Taiyang’s 2nd birthday, when Zhou went out gambling with his friends, Ciara took the risk. 

With nothing but the clothes on her back and some money she was keeping hidden from selling her items, Ciara took Taiyang and fled from Mistral. She managed to get an airship ticket for cheap and finally the terror was over. She returned to Vale, going to her fathers and explaining what happened. Both welcomed her home with open arms. They didn’t blame her for being scared, or for what happened. She moved into their home, and there they would stay, away from Zhou for good. 

Unfortunately, due to Ciara’s weakened state, she grew ill frequently and when Tai was about 6, she passed away. He was raised by his grandfathers, who never told him about Zhou. Ciara made them promise not to. To this day, Tai knows nothing about his father. But that doesn’t matter to him.

what does tai do with his spare time now that the girls are gone? i know he likes gardening, but what else does he enjoy?

Gardening is one of his favorite, and most common hobbies when he’s not working. He grew up around plants and just adores them so much. Another hobby he has with plants is flower arranging! His grandfather taught him. He enjoys making bouquets with the flowers he’s grown. Sometimes he gifts them to people, but other than that they decorate the house.

On some weekends, he goes camping! When the girls were younger, he would take them too and include some fighting lessons into the trip. Smaller grimm can be found on Patch, especially deeper in the woods like their home is. Tai enjoys keeping his skills up while also protecting his home a little better.

Don’t make fun of him but he does like to knit. He usually does it as a way to relax at the end of a day. He mostly knits scarves and blankets. Another hobby he got from his grandfathers, as both of them knitted.

He also enjoys to do origami! A lot of his homework back at Beacon would end up being turned into something before he turned it in so it would be covered in wrinkles and creases.

Other smaller hobbies include kite flying & Sudoku. Brain teasers are always fun too.

what's tai's diet consist of? what times of the day does he eat? does he snack much?

Tai’s diet is pretty well rounded! He doesn’t eat a lot of beef and actually prefers pork, chicken and fish. He will eat beef, but it’s rare to find the man buying a steak unless the sale is really good. Of course, if his family wants a steak, he’ll get a steak no matter the cost. 

Veggies are also an integral part of his diet! Most of the vegetables he uses at home are grown himself. If he didn’t grow it, he got it from the farmer’s market. He enjoys buying local and fresh, and supporting the community of Patch. While part of Vale over all, they’re quite a ways from the main land.

He snacks a lot actually! He’s not the kind of guy who likes sweets and much prefers savory things (though he is weak for pastries. Especially bear claws with a blueberry filling). Typically he always carries a bag of mixed nuts with him! Peanuts and Cashews are his favorite. That or seasoned sunflower seeds. Tai stashes them in the pockets of his shorts so if you mention being hungry, he’s probably going to offer you some.

He eats at relatively normal times. Breakfast is always done before 8:30am, and dinner is usually 7:30pm. Lunch is the big variable, depending on what he’s doing. It’s not uncommon for him to work through lunch though thanks to his snacks.

This man is also lactose intolerant! He buys regular milk for the girls, but he’s got some vanilla almond milk for himself! He will still suffer through his digestive issues for a bowl of ice cream though.
