i think the thing is the finale is not only anti climactic but overall the mistral arc seems literally unfinished.

visit pyrrha’s family? no. ren and nora’s relationship developing in any meaningful way? nah. team sssn finally getting to be real characters? no way! letting the audience learn about and grow to care for characters before killin them off? nope, murder time! meaningful and satisfying conclusions to literally anything going on? eh, maybe next volume

v4 and 5 had pretty much nothing fucking happen and yet i still feel like we needed an extra volume in between to satisfyingly deal with all the plot beats that really should have been dealt with. instead everything feels like it was half baked and shoved into the finale last second, resulting a cluster of half conclusions and unearned resolutions

I wonder what the plan for Adam is in the future. Because, while I am glad they didn't remove him so anticlimacticly, they also kinda defanged him in every way. We've been shown he's not an amazing fighter, at least when angry. And his two biggest tools, his control of the WF and the emotional hold he has over Blake, are both gone. So like, him showing up in the future, it's gonna be kinda hard to see him as a threat.

I’d say a large part of why he isn’t as much of a threat this volume has to do with control. Remember, Blake had a pretty lackluster showing against him back in 3x11 between the surprise of seeing her abuser and the overall unpreparedness for the fall of Beacon. This time it’s Adam’s turn, because he wasn’t expecting Blake to have to help or for his plans to be foiled (he’s also a bit unhinged which doesn’t help). In 3x11, Adam had control, but in Haven Blake has it. Their next confrontation will likely be a bit more even.

As for his future role, I’m not sure. In the long term he does need to be defeated (since he’s kind of a major antagonist for Blake and after volume 3 Yang as well), but the how and when is a bit harder to predict. It’ll depend on a lot on where he goes or if he officially joins Salem. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him hunting Blake down independently, but with the group heading to Atlas it probably wouldn’t be next volume (Ironwood’s got a few screws loose but it does mean that Atlas will hard to sneak into).

Adam has never been in control of anything at all. All his actions was due to other people, so it’s weird how people say he has control over this and that, when he doesn’t have control over anything at all.

There’s no future role Adam can have since he’s never had an major role. He’s never been important narratively, same as the white fang. He’s not a threat, he doesn’t have ay importance, and the hype that was built around him is non existent. At this point there just beating a dead horse when it comes to Adam and need to leave it alone.

Adam is a character, not a puppet. No one forced him to cut off Yang’s arm and him killing Sienna Khan is very much due to his own ambitions and no one else’s. Control might not have been the best word (though it is still applicable), more of the balance of power shaped those two confrontations (with Adam having the advantage in 3x11 and Blake having it in Haven).

Blake’s entire arc throughout the entire show would argue that Adam and the White Fang are important, and saying otherwise is a ridiculous. Adam in particular has played a major role, between his relationship with Blake and cutting off Yang’s arm (and that’s without getting into his involvement with the White Fang and the attacks on Beacon and Haven).

And he is a threat, something that we’ve seen in 3x11 and in the Black trailer. Even in 5x14 Blake says that she and Sun can’t take him in a fight, which is meant to tell us that even if he’s beaten he’s still a powerful opponent.

Adam escaped for a reason. We haven’t seen the last of him.

You mean, the Adam and the white fang who was forced to work for cinder. Because nothing that the white fang or Adam has done within the story, has ever been for the white fang or about the white Fang at all. All that they’ve done has been for Cinder. They didn’t contribute to nothing. You can legit take the white fang and adam out of the story, and nothing would change at all because they left no impact at all. But since you think they’ve left some sort of impact and was imporrant, tell me, outside of being forced to work for cinder, what has the white fang actually done within the plot?

Blakes entire arc has been about the white fang, and the white fang arc has been handled so horribly and pointlessly that they serve no actual point to the story. and you know why that is? Because the white fang ended up being about nothing at all. The organization that turned to violence because peace wasn’t working. Yeah, they don’t exist. They’re now an organization who happily works for the human bad guys, despite the fact that Adam hates humans, and the white fang was supposed to be for faunus and fughting against the treatment of humans. But you know, cinder doesn’t count. They didn’t oppose her, they didn’t fight against her, no, they worked for her. Which contradicts this thought that Adam has been in cintrol, because no, Adam has never been in control of anything at all

Also adams a big bad villian for blake, but he doesn’t represent anything that Blake is supposed to be about, so what type of foil is he to Blake really? She already got over whatever the fuck it is he did to her. And Uang, no Adam was used as a catalyst for growth for Yang, he was never going to be a big then to her.

And no Adam isn’t a threat. There’s nothing that volumes 4 and 5 showed that would even remotely point to Adam being a threat. He was beaten Incredibly easily and no one takes him serious as a villian anymore. The person who was built up, is gone because of this volume. No one takes him seriously. What about adam should anyone take seriously and view as a threat?

Iike I said, they’re beating a dead horse. Nobody cares about Adam anymore. He’s not the character that was built up, and there’s nothing that they can do to build him up as a credible villian who poses an actual threat.

Without Adam and the White Fang you lose the conflict between Weiss and Blake in Volume 1, which stems from the White Fang’s actions prior to Cinder hijacking them. Without Adam and the White Fang, Cinder and company would’ve had no army to attack Beacon. Without Adam and the White Fang, Yang wouldn’t have lost an arm, and Blake would’ve had no reason to leave her team. 

Adam and Blake both want better treatment for the faunus but go about it in different ways, not to mention his status as her former abuser. She’s overcoming that but she isn’t completely unafraid (Adam even mentions that she’s still afraid of him in 5x14). And as I said in my previous reblog, Blake literally says that she and Sun can’t take Adam on their own so she does still consider him a threat. As for Yang, Armed and Ready exists and I’ve already gone into why she deserves to fight him in the past.

Finally, something to keep in mind: just because you don’t like how an aspect of the plot has been handled doesn’t mean you can say it’s not important.

Nope, because Weiss was doing all that conflict with Sun, she was being bigoted and ignorant towards Sun, not just the white fang Take out the white fang and Blake would still want equal right side for Faunus because that’s a problem that’s been established that’s not the result of the white fang. Take out the white fang and Weiss’s father would still treat her the way he’s treated her, and be the way he is. Take out the white fang, nothing would actually change

And once again, the white fang attacked beacon because of Cinder, not because they wanted too. Not because they have something to gain. Everything that you listed, the fall of beacon, and Yang losing her arm, That happened, because of cinder. Cinder was what made that happen. Not the white fang. You can replace that with junior and his gang and the results would be the exact same thing.

In fact, what this tells me is that the white fang is only important as pawns of Cinder. They serve no actual purpose as a group. the white fang are so pointless to the story as a whole, that they don’t even contribute to what they’re supposed to even represent.

Adam doesn’t want better treatment for the faunus. That’s been established. It would have worked if that was the case, but Adam is nothing more than a crazy, power hungry villian who wants to rule over the humans. That’s Adams charater. That’s what they relegated Adams character too.

Blake got over whatever it is Adam did to her. That’s been established. That’s very clear, and her and sun not being able to take on Adam isn’t a result of her being scared. Like Blake even tells him that she’s not there for him. She’s over whatever that was.

But in the end it doesn’t matter because Adam isn’t taken serious as villian as I’ve said. He’s shown absolutely nothing this volume that would make anyone think he was an actual threat, and he’s shown us nothing that would make us think he should be taken seriously as a villian at all. All the built up with him was diminished in this volume. He has nothing worth taking seriously. In the end, he’s only going to want revenge against blake. He’s nothing but a generic villian with nothing note worthy about him.

also to note: I wouldn’t say something is pointless, unless it actually is pointless. The white fang is pointless.

I don’t think that’s a fair comparison. unlike the White Fang, the LGBT people in Russia don’t have an organization dedicated to peace that eventually turned into a definitively evil terrorist organization.

But yeah… You have a point. It feels more like the Black Panther movement having to stop their problematic members rather than the white people needing to treat African Americans better than your comparison.

I’m drawing a more fair comparison. I’m not going to pretend that the Black Panthers were 100% good, but they weren’t 100% evil. I’m just saying it’s like a bunch of white dudes telling them that “You have to control your problematic members before we can trust you.” and that this is what the show is doing.

To contrast with the White Fang, the biggest issue with the Panthers was never the way they treated white people - it was the infighting they had amongst themselves (particularly misogynysts antagonizing Panther women) and with other black power groups like US.

If RT had actually done their research on minority rights organization history, they’d have found that infighting like what the White Fang has is what leads to the death of minority rights movements - NOT to them making progress.

It’s similar to the fighting between the Panthers and US, which may or may not have been engineered by the FBI in connection with COINTELPRO.

My only hope for the White Fang storyline at this point is that it’s revealed that Adam is a human planted among the organization to instigate chaos, kill its leader, and eventually make the entire movement fall apart. After that reveal, the faunus would be forced to unite against their human oppressors because they’d finally see that the humans are determined to destroy their movement no matter how it behaves.

If that was what Blake's main point was then the solution would to be mindful of the people around you on the island, not to try and fix the world's perception of your race, even after they've tried to segregate you away on an island named "zoo".

The house attack was an example Blake used to forward her goal of defeating Adam and her idea of "we should be the ones to change them". Her actual point was one of action not one of passive acknowledgement. I don't really know why you'd think her goal would end with reminding people that "some people can be assholes sometimes" when she's actually going to war... Unless you get your info second handed and don't watch this show.

Before I wake up to the new rwby episode I wanna say I'm... Cautiously optimistic about the action we will see.

Not just because of Kerry's teasing but because I know some of the animators are friends with torrian (main 3d animator for death battle and animator for the sun wukong dbx) so they probably got some pointers from him at least. I stress this because Kerry specifically teased nunckucks and torrian was showing some good nunckuck action in the clip screwattack brought to the extralife Livestream.
