Thinking about a post I saw a while ago where someone was talking about how they didn't want Jason to be like 'I don't want you kids to turn out like me' in the new TT. And I never really thought much about it, now that I'm thinking more about it...
...I think he should.
Just as a theoretical, idk what Higgins has in mind nor do I want TT to be that focused on Jason, but like, Jason does fit the criteria as the 'don't be like me' mentor. And that's not a negative. What would be a negative is if that is used to reinforce the victim blaming narrative of Jason being a reckless, dangerous child who got himself killed. But think about Jason's life thus far. Think about where he's at.
He's twenty three. He's separated from his family yet again. He has no path, no singular purpose; he's been puttering about since he was nineteen and burned out of his villainous path, most of which was desperation and/or psychosis. He is hated by the hero community. He's been suicidal on multiple occasions and is arguably still passively suicidal. He's suffered torture and pain and anguish and the worst of humanity.
Why would he want the kids to be anything like him?
These kids have already suffered enough in their short lives. They've all been through some truly horrible things (well, at least Lian, Nika, and Jeffrey have, we have no idea about the new boys lol), and they're kids. Kids. They shouldn't go down the same paths as Jason. They should learn from what he's done, because what Jason has done has only ended in his suffering; not necessarily because of his specific actions, but because where that has led him to.
And like, to a certain extent Jason is doomed anyway. Especially in regards to family.
But if Jason can keep these kids from ever going down his path, if he can keep them from ever suffering like he has...
Is that not the entire point of a mentor?
Is that not his duty?
Anyway I'm still hyped can you tell
He doesn’t need to say it period, because it only continues to push negatively to his character. It’s not a good thing. It doesn’t say anything. It just makes Jason look bad, and that’s constantly what they do. Nothing about what you said, is a good thing for Jason’s character.
Slowly but surely getting back into reading.
I think I’ve read about 8 books in the last couple or months. Not a lot but more than what I was reading before.
So far out of the 8 or so I’ve read, I’ve only liked 3.
So here's the thing: back when Jason was Robin, his biggest fear was that he failed Bruce, and Bruce dying. Yet, people often act as if his greatest obsession or fear after coming back is the Joker or that crowbar. I mean, it’s not like I’m saying he completely got over it or wasn't affected by those events, right? But after his return, like in utrh he cared far less about the Joker than anything involving Bruce. Sure, he wanted the Joker dead, but I don't think he’d cower in fear just seeing him. Somehow, I feel like if he were exposed to something like a fear toxin, what he’d see... would still be Bruce. He’s been through so much hell that it’s hard to, well, I wonder what actually counts as the "worst" thing for him, given how high his tolerance for trauma is. But do you think he has nightmares about Bruce instead of the Joker? And that he’s haunted by the image of a Batarang rather than a crowbar? I mean come on it’s obvious that Bruce matters way more to him than the Joker ever did.
Man i wanna write a one piece fanfic, but I don’t know if I wanna change Garps writing or if I wanna keep it and make him the POS he actually is.
Teyvat is small as hell lol. Is there no other land mass on the entire earth.. that’s not a critique or anything, it just made me laugh when nothing else was shown except that plot of land. Just one giant continent that doesn’t even seem that big to begin with.
And also
Ugh, imma have to delete my sims 4 home. I figured out the issue but I can’t save the house.. and I loved the layout i created… oh well, the core of it will stay the same because the point was based upon me wanting a specific main hallway/entrance.
For some reason, when I’m making a house on a big lot I have to start with the backyard first and work my way to the front. I didn’t want a big backyard for this lot like my last one. But I still made the house too big to fit what I wanted to do. Hopefully I’ll have a better scope now.
The character creation in Cyberpunk sucks so much.. what’s the point of a terrible character creator when the game is first person.
I keep building houses too big in the sims 4 😭. I thought I was doing good, and then I added three more rooms at the bottom that spiraled lol.
I’m trying to pull it in as best I can because two of the additional rooms I made I switched around with the preexisting rooms. So that leaves those rooms empty. One room can be the laundry room, but I don’t know what to do with the other two. An office? Game room? Greenhouse? Library?
The last room I made was solely because I felt another hallway was needed, but the hallway couldn’t lead to nothing.
I put a lot of room in the front for the yard that I didn’t do yet. And there’s still room in the back. But I wanted to build a little Mausoleum, but there won’t be much room for a cute little backyard space and no space for the kids.
Maybe I can do the kids place in the front and leave the back to the adults….
Let’s see, I’m still trying to reel in all in. I always planned a third floor for the parent’s space, but the space I created is way too big.
"I'm still kicking" is such a funny way to say "I'm still alive". Like lol. I'm still thrashing. Flailing. Writhing even. The violence remains.
I do not care for Kaveh. He’s annoying as hell. His relationship with Al Haitham is also annoying as hell. He does nothing but complain. Does he have no other personality. Dealing with him seems exhausting:
i've been rewatching parks and rec and obviously the fatphobia in that show is horrendous, but you'd be shocked that chris traeger is one of my favorite characters. I find him so interesting because the 'health nut' is an archetype that I hardly ever see satirized in a negative light. chris' mental instability is entirely due to the fact that he's trying to outrun the inevitability of death. when he gets even the slightest ailment, he becomes utterly devastated by the fact that he can't conquer his own body. the joke is that his fitness regimens are absurd and it annoys everyone around him. he's the first fitness-focused character I've ever seen that exemplifies how placing physical fitness over everything else will lead to burnout, mental health issues, and isolation. I love it every time he and ron swanson interact. ron's entire character is built around his self-assuredness. at his core, he is a man who values his autonomy. he is so headstrong and clear in his values, namely the pleasures of food, that when chris tries to get him to change his diet, chris always loses. chris' biggest character trait is his toxic positivity in the workplace, and that is intentionally written to be a byproduct of his lifestyle. he acts like an expert and tries to impose his way of life onto others, and it's generally accepted by the rest of the cast that he's kind of a wack job who no one should listen to. fascinating.

Takes about Jason's death that ignores Sheila's existence are always bound to be shallow. By ignoring her, you're also ignoring Jason's feelings before and during the whole situation. The singular only reason Jason ended up in Ethiopia at all was because of the possibility of finding a living relative, a mom, and ignoring that consequently means ignoring almost all of the emotional weight of ADTIF.
What Sheila represents to Jason is a chance at finding something he's been missing since his parents' death: a real family, unconditional love. With A Diplomat's Son and Consequences, Jason realizes that his role in Bruce's life is conditioned by his actions/behavior as Robin, and any child would feel threatened, scared, and insecure with such realization. Finding out he may have another mother who's alive means there's a chance he may be fully accepted regardless of whether or not he's a perfect child/Robin, that he won't need to prove himself worthy, that their mere blood relation means his mother will love him unconditionally.
That's why Sheila's treason is so heartbreaking. She explicitly denies Jason love and acceptance, she implicitly breaks the enormous hope he carried since finding out he may have a living mother.
ADITF begins with Jason hurting and grieving his parents and what they had. Every single one of Jason's actions in that comic were fueled by that grief and his need for a parent's love that, since A Diplomat's Son and Consequences, he couldn't seem to find anymore in Bruce.
By taking out Sheila out of the picture, by ignoring her existence in that comic, you automatically erase the ground of which the story sprouted from, alongside Jason's entire motivation and purpose. It becomes a whole other story that simply doesn't fit with the previous ones that led to ADITF, one that makes Jason's death even more meaningless (and Batman even more irresponsible) than it canonically already was.
