I just saw the most Galaxy Brain gender take ever, from a cis man on reddit

Framing “girl” and “boy” as separate genders from “woman” and “man” is such an amazing take. it’s a framework that accommodates and explains so many trans experiences. Some trans people never were their AGAB. Some feel like they were their AGAB, but that that changed (usually when puberty hits, which is when you start “becoming a man/woman”. The accepted societal path is that girls grow up to into women, and boys grow up into men. But some girls grow up into men, and some boys grow up into women. This guy was a boy who grew up into a man, which generally works out pretty well for people. Some boys and girls grow up into people who aren’t men or women, even! It’s like this random cis guy skipped right over transgender 101, 102, 201, etc. and stumbled directly into Transgender Nirvana.

Oh I love that one and it's something that I prefer to Chekhov's gun because also if you have someone step on the tail it not just reminds the reader that the tail exists, but also establishes the tale is not universally to the character's benefit. It is a mundane part of their life.

As a robot girl and a mechanic, its important to get someone else to do your maintenance. Not Just because you need to let others pamper you for a change, though that part is true. But because you need someone to reset and reinstall those safely limitors.

I know you've been disabling them. Do I even need to check your logs? Tally up the time they read "heat override". You have so many sensors turned off or disabled. These ones in particukar are for your safety, you realize that right? The exterior armor is barely scratched, yet your internals are cooked and worn to shreds.

Trust me, I get it. Theirs lots to do and plenty to get done. But you're overvaluing your purpose, and undervalueing your chassis.

I hate that they keep making samus sexy.
