okay so technically this is a version i scrapped, as you can probably tell by the bits i left uncoloured… essentially i decided against the 1800s style colonisercore military attire for the mereth aderthad painting because it’s too intricate to render in that many people, so the final version will be different but same pose and same eagle because i am not drawing that fucking bird again. context for eagle is that i like the idea that the house of Fingolfin absolutely adopted and gobbled up the eagle motif for political reasons after the Thangorodrim rescue.

👇🏽 as you can see he also has a ear-prosthetic like Maedhros, but his is for post-Helcaraxë frostbite reasons, he has an exceedingly biteable mole on his lip yum yum, and the cunty little nose piercing is inspired by @antlered-vixen’s elves who always have excellent facial piercings.

Fingolfin can do nothing right for Father’s Day.

To kick off the new year 2026, I decided to dedicate my first drawing to Argon, the youngest son of Fingolfin (I love calling them 'Elder Arakano' and 'Younger Arakano').

In my country and several other Asian cultures, we celebrate two New Years: the Solar New Year and the Lunar New Year (Tết). Since the Lunar New Year is our main celebration with a much longer holiday, I’m drawing Argon now and saving Fingolfin for my first sketch of the Lunar New Year (I’m a huge fan of Fingolfin, after all!).

About little Arakano, my dear Argon, the brave warrior of the House of Nolofinwë. I’ve always dreamed of seeing him in the most radiant light of his carefree youth back in Valinor.

I like to imagine that, even though his journey in Middle-earth was cut short, Argon used his last breath to become tiny wildflowers blooming around his atar’s feet, a final tribute to the father whose name he inherited. A final lingering beauty of Valinor gifted to Fingolfin.
