Pihu Firebough: Legend of the Firebough Crown
In a time lost to history, the Firebough clan was facing certain death. Little by little, their numbers whittled away until finally, at the eleventh hour, the last fertile mother had a daughter.
Pihu grew up with no siblings, and a fading family. Her mother died when she was 22, leaving Pihu Firebaugh the last of her name. Despite the grim outlook, Pihu continued tending the failed village with steady dedication. She farmed the fields and marked paths, that it seemed no Firebough would ever walk, after her.
But Pihu's dedication to the memory of her family was well worth the effort. Pihu was blessed with three beautiful daughters, reviving the Firebough clan.
Her eldest, her heir, she named Laura. Pihu gave Laura a crown-- Forged by Pihu's grandfather, once upon a time ago. A symbol of hope that Firebough would live on once more.
Firebough flourished. Pihu taught her daughters all they needed to know, and together, the farms were revived. Milkweed blossomed in clusters, and the berry bushes were ripe once more, as they had been in Pihu's youth.
Laura led the village in Pihu's place, leading to a successful lineage of beautiful daughters, as males became rare due to the family mythology. Pihu trained her granddaughter, Mystic, in her place. Mystic took on the role of village guide, offering advice and help to the younger generations.
The Village Guide became a solitary role. The guide kept up Pihu's tradition of laying pathways for the town, and raising the next generations on the traditions of Firebough. They were the crown keepers, the guardians of the legacy of Firebough.
The crown of Firebough was passed from leader to leader, to symbolize the hope of their people in even dire times. Once, the crown was stolen by Henry Firebough, who wanted the crown, the respect for himself. The crown was returned, and used to crown Opal Firebough-- The last leader of Firebough to wear the crown. Opal died in an unexplored area.. losing the crown to time.
The Crown of Firebough has yet to be found.
But The Fireboughs still live on, to this day. The search for the crown still lives on, with annual festivals to encourage a village-wide search. Legend has it, Pihu returns to her family every few generations, wearing a devil's mask and placing stone paths, just as she had centuries ago, leading her family forward in every life.
