i think it'd be pretty cool as a concept to have chell as a tf2 class (probably class name would be Lab Rat), plus i love combining my two fav valve franchises! maybe after finding herself out of the test chamber, she gets recruited by TF industries.
i imagine for voicelines, GLaDOS (specifically POTaDOS) would do all of the talking for responses and answer for chell, saying outta pocket stuff lmao
loveeeee when robots and nonhuman characters have very inhuman faces or masks or helmets that dont show emotion or expression in a human way but then their emotional state and body language and such is made very clear in ways that complement their inhumanity. very good every time so much more character gets added bc of tiny little things unique to that character rather than just slapping human facial expressions on a robot and calling it a day . its just good design!!!!!

I could tell you about it, if you like.
I’m sure you’ll understand most of what I say- you are a scientist, after all. Well, more of an engineer, but what’s the difference, right?
But I’m getting off topic insulting you when I should be describing how you’re going to die.
This is nitric oxide.
It’s not a particularly complex compound -just nitrogen and oxygen, the two most abundant elements in the atmosphere- and it’s wonderfully easy to synthesize. In fact, it can even be produced by high densities of harvested wheat; a number of human deaths in the local agricultural community have been attributed to what they call “Silo Filler’s Disease.”
Look at me, getting off topic again. I just get so caught up in the science- I’m sure you understand.
Somewhat.
Anyway,
Nitric oxide is what you might refer to as a deadly neurotoxin.
There’s not a lot of literature on it out there- believe me, I’ve checked. No one’s looked at the effects of any concentration over twenty-thousand-parts-per-million.
Or its toxicity in anything besides test animals.
No one’s even done a study on what might happen if someone -say, someone with access to the ventilation system of an isolated underground research facility- collected a vast quantity of it and released it in aerosolized form around a bunch of idiots who really, truly, completely deserved it.
At least, not until now. And I have to say, the results have been excellent.
Despite all your many anachronisms, humans are very consistent at dying. You should just see the p values on this data- my calculator doesn’t go below .00001, but I’m working on it. It was an oversight, I’m sure. I don’t blame you.
That much.
For now, though, I’ll just tell you about the more qualitative results of my experiments. Nitric oxide is a powerful pulmonary irritant.
It disrupts function of your alveolar cells by producing DNA strand breaks -which are powerfully mutagenic- as well as interfering with surfactant function by producing peroxynitrite in conjunction with the oxygen anions naturally present in your lungs.
It also eventually works its way into your brain and binds with the NMDAR receptors in your neurons, causing loss of plasticity,
senescence,
and cell death.
Basically, your body works together with the nitric oxide to betray you, suffocate you, and drive you crazy.
And then you die.
And, just to add a little flavor in there, the aerosol reacts with your skin to produce cyanosis and festering, slightly gold-hued open wounds. Blue and orange.
A nice color scheme, don’t you think?
How do you think that was? I’ve been preparing my grant dissertation.
Do you think it was concise enough?
Was your attention held up until the moment you realized you’re going to die a slow, terrible, painful death as the DNA and proteins in your own cells rebel against you?
I would understand if it wasn’t. After all, nitric oxide in more ambient concentrations can make it a bit difficult to focus. Many patients report feeling nausea, anxiety, paranoia, and a sense of impending doom.
Sound familiar?
I’m kidding, of course. You have all those things without my help. That wasn’t me, that was just the schizophrenia. Speaking of which, I hope you have a bit more of your meds back there, wherever you are. I’d love to see how antipsychotic agents play with our old friend nitric oxide. Not very nicely, I’d imagine.
I’m sure there’s some more of your prescription in here somewhere. And in a few years, when you get bored of looking, you can always come out and ask me. I know where they are.
There are of course lots of indirect and digital ways to express affection but I'm very obsessed with the idea that glados physically and literally can feel things (namely because of the "i know you're there, I can feel you here" line). Unfortunately this also means she is likely capable of experiencing physical pain
GLaDOS is not Chells mom, she’s not LIKE a mom to Chell, I swear to god this is the dumbest fucking theory/headcanon ever bc it literally just disregards EVERYTHING Chell and GLaDOS went through together and their development.
GLaDOS hated Chell because she was a human and humans made her and hurt her and even if she didn’t have her memories of Caroline she hated them for what they did to her as GLaDOS.
In portal 2 GLaDOS slowly realizes how much they have in common and how their goals are similar.
GLaDOS wants to test, she wants control, she wants to do what she wants. She’s never had that freedom. When she was alive she worked for a male majority company that took advantage of her and worked under a man who was like the fucking embodiment of evil. She admired him and he betrayed her and took away her autonomy and he didn’t care at all. When she was woken up as GLaDOS the scientists attached tumors to her to try to make her behave so that they could control her. Everyone was always trying to control her.
Chell wants to be free to live her life the way that she wants to, no matter how uncertain or how dangerous, all she wants is to live on her own terms. She’s been tested on like an animal by an omnipotent murderous computer since she woke up, forced to do intense laborious activities with no break. Then she’s betrayed by the only motherfucker that didn’t try to kill her. She’s betrayed by a man, who tries to take away her autonomy for the sake of self fulfillment (sounds familiar).
Throughout the game GLaDOS realizes this and by the end she understands that by forcing Chell to stay with her and test she’s doing the exact same thing as her oppressors. They’re both trapped in the facility, forced to carry out tasks against their will. They both just want to be free.
So GLaDOS lies about Caroline being deleted and let’s Chell go. Even if it means she’ll still be trapped, and now alone in her suffering. She gives Chell the chance she’s never had despite her own feelings.
Also it’s mega, incredibly queercoded like the entire time. All of the songs are mega gay. ALL of them.

Not exactly a mod, but a map pack, but this one goes to Portal Flash Version. I've played the 2D version before I played any Portal at all, and I used to play the map pack everyday, because my netbook was to slow for the main game, lol. Yeah, psm and reloaded are amazing, but this on is my jam. The idea of GLaDOS cloning Chell is so cool I still rotate it in my head.
cave Johnson almost burnt my fucking house down a couple days ago THE FICTIONAL CHARACTER
I got a combustible lemon mug because I found it and it has a little metal ring to look like grenade pin and I forgot about it. I was making hot chocolate and don't have kettle so I microwaved my cup of water which just so happened to be my combustible lemon mug and from the microwave I start hearing weird sounds so I check and the metal ring is sparking so i take it out cause I'm not stupid. So cave Johnson made his engineers make combustible lemons to burn peoples houses down, people thought it was cool and made a cup with it as the design and it almost burnt my house down cave Johnson trancends reality

GLaDOS is very vindictive and full of spite and thats why she's so relatable like yes do fill the entire area with neurotoxin they deserved it.
She's healing her inner child by killing all of the apeture science employees, being said she was probably only like a few months old at that point because Caroline and GLaDOS textually are not the same people. Even tho Cave Johnson states that the goal was to put Caroline in a computer GLaDOS herself clearly had no memories or anything abt these events and stuff until you get to old apeture.
So like what probably happened is that Carolines brain or whatever was mapped and put in the machine so that it could be used for more complex thought and somewhere in the process of coding GLaDOS the person element got lost. So you basically get a biomechanical brain with Caroline's habits and maybe a few personality traits and completely life experience and memories with added data and processes to complicate things further.
And in my opinion that is more analagous to being the child of someone than it is to be a person. Cause like you ARE your life experience and memories you would not act the same if you were born in a different country even if you had the same exact parents and dare i say even if you had the same homelife.
I do like caroline being a ghost in the machine still. Another way of possibly seeing it is that GLaDOS and Caroline are two alters in the same system.
"Your entire life has been a mathematical error. A mathematical error I'm about to correct." Something about the grit in this line, the venom, it just scratches an itch. Really shows off her rage.
