It’s been a minute since I checked in. The race is one week from Saturday. I’m no longer terrified and I’m pretty sure I can do it.

That said, I wish I could have trained more recently. I went to Chicago for Lavender Law and had a wonderful amazing so good fantastic time. I met lots of new friends and I feel really good about the job fair (I will be spending tomorrow following up on those and applying to still more jobs because damn I need to have a job when I graduate. Preferably with a firm. Preferably doing trademark law).

However, while I was there I didn’t get to train very much. I danced my ass off about every night I was there, which counts for something I guess (cardio? there was a lot of sweating). This week I was spending a lot of time finishing up a brief for work (which is now finished) and trying to make sure my journal doesn’t fall apart (which... hopefully it doesn’t) so I didn’t get too much time to train this week either. However, Monday we went to the beach and generally frolicked and I’m going to count that as exercise. Frolicking is the greatest exercise.

But! Saturday my bad-ass army captain friend is going to teach me to climb a rope, and we’re doing a community WOD (because the only rope I could find to climb was at the local crossfit gym). It’s going to be great. Hopefully I’ll believe it if I keep telling myself that.

So between the 6ish miles I did the other day and the workout I did last night (pictured below) I’m starting to think that the Spartan Race is doable. I’m no longer as concerned about the distance as I am about the obstacles themselves (several of which remain terrifying).

Also, I’m going to Chicago tomorrow in search of a job! Sincerely hoping that a firm with a trademark practice loves me. I need to go print resumes.
