"my aunt called me today and was like ‘you need to work less, no one’s going to marry you if you get premature grey hair’.” tatiana takes a deep breath, before settling into her chair at the table and taking a sip of her tea, hoping that maybe it would wash away her annoyance. “which then she proceeded to remind me, i’m not getting any younger, and my sisters all have children or are married.” she wrinkles her nose for a minute, only because her question is more serious than not, when it comes out. “do you think she’ll notice if i block her number for a week, she’s done this twice in three days now.”
zarausten:
“Is it closing time already, babe?” Zara asked as she looked down at her phone that she had put down in favor of a book at the cute little bookshop she had found in her exploration of the cute little beach town. “I think I could handle this tragedy but the concern is much appreciated. The house I’m renting had a few books but let me say that the ownershave terrible taste. Not a single interesting read.”
“It is, we close early on the Saturdays sometimes for a book club, but it was cancelled today though, so I kinda of let time get away from me. I wouldn’t be pushing so hard if I hadn’t gotten behind in my closing procedures.” But her raising an eyebrow at that, she nods. “Yeah, not everyone in town is a big reader, but if you have a type that you maybe wanna stock up on, I give a small discount if you buy more than four books. In the name of you having good books, I think I can extend the time I’m here though if it interests you.”
d--sanders:
“No, we can only make it awkward. You have to drag me out of her. I won’t leave any other way.” Dan laughed as he looked at her before closing the book he had gotten into. “I’ll pay for it but only if you hang out with me after you close. I spent all day reading, how lame? I need to redeem myself by like..going out to a bar with you and failing at playing pool. What do you say?”
“This may be the first time a full grown man has told me I have to drag him out of here,” she almost looks amused before it drops with a role of her eyes. “You do realize I run a bookstore, it’s basically my whole life. Reading would be the one thing I don’t consider lame.” But she wrinkles her nose. “You’d have to wait a bit, I have to finish closing up but, if you’re buying drinks, I suppose watching someone make a fool of themselves couldn’t make this slow worse.”
bridgcts:
“ you seriously think i’d wanna buy this ?? “ she held up a copy of one of donald trump’s business books, her brow furrowing, “ i’m literally only reading this because i wanted to give myself a confidence boost, like, hey… at least i’m smarter than the ‘president,’ but it made me just really depressed – also, coffee at this hour is a bold move. i’m proud. “
“hey, all kinds of people walk this town. even conservative supporters of that guy, i didn’t think they could read but you know, i don’t complain if i’m getting paid.” but her chuckling under her breath at that, glancing down at the mug in her hand. “i think i’ve accidentally accustomed my body to it, you know how it keeps some people up, i don’t think i could sleep tonight if i didn’t have it. if you’re looking for a confidence boost though, i have plenty of self help books.”
tanner-dayton:
tanner laughed, as he closed the book. “can’t i read one more page. the story is getting so good.” reading was never really a thing tanner did. he found books to be boring. walking around town he stumbled upon chapter one. for as long as he lived here he should have known it existed. but sadly did not. “i’m going to buy my book now.”
tatiana tilts her head side to side for a moment, as if actually considering it. “normally i would say yes, but its just me tonight because it’s quiet so i think maybe its ti’s for the best if we have you buy it.” walking back toward her register, she nods her head toward it. “but if you really like it as much as you think, if you come back for the sequel, i think we can swing a locals discount or something, hm?”
tcacampbcll:
it was an incredibly reasonable request, but tea rolled her eyes and released a little, huffy sigh. she snapped the book shut, though she kept her finger in between the pages. “i was looking at it for, like, two minutes, i didn’t know it’s offend you so much.” but her expression was softer when she looked down at the book again, as was her tone as she spoke up again. “do you maybe have - do you have a hardback copy of this anywhere?”
“i didn’t say it did, but if you’re reading it, its maybe more comfortable at home and not at this table.” tatiana raised an eyebrow at the reaction. tatiana doesn’t exactly strike fear in others but she’s not always known for a welcoming demeanor so people don’t usually ....react like that, she’s impressed. but she pulls her lip between her teeth for a minute before glancing at the book in her head, giving a nod. she turns around and walks to her counter. “i do. i actually only have one left, but i think i can part with it, if it’s going to you. most people skip right over that book.”

lcnnyisms:
“well it’s official, the gift shop now sells child leashes. or safety harnesses, if you will. listen, i know a lot of people see it as a proactive product but i still couldn’t stop myself from laughing when i stocked them on the shelves earlier. anyway, enough about that. what have you been up to lately?”
“wait, wait, are they shaped like anything? because sometimes i see moms come in with little kids on leashes but they’re like....small teddy bears. and i’m not sure how that’s better?” tatiana wrinkles her nose for a moment before shaking her head. “how is that not traumatizing, here’s a small bear set to be attached to you for hours on end,” she finishes with a shrug to her shoulders. “not much. i had to restock a whole display today because someone let their angry teenager in my store, and they knocked the whole thing over.”
“can we please not make this super awkward?” she looks at the other in question, almost hiding behind the coffee cup as she takes a sip, even though her voice sounds serious she almost looks anything but. “we close in ten minutes, and as much as i condone to reading, you’re gonna have to actually buy the book and do it at home. it’s tragic, i know.”
it is time......to introduce this mess.
