Why is nobody talking about HOW FUCKING GOOD KAOS IS yet

Am I going to have to do this all myself?

Why are we not talking about the incredible effortless trans and disability rep & how the director is non-binary & just changed Atropos' pronouns in the script the same day that Sam Buttery switched from they/them to she/her? Or how they actually use the canonically trans man mythological figure of Caenis & show his top surgery scars in his second scene so we know immediately who he is and why [SPOILER EVENT] happened? Why aren't we talking about the flawless worldbuilding? Is no one going to draw me endless Furies fan art? Are we gonna talk about how Harold Perrineau's daughter is starring in a show whose visual language pulls so directly from Romeo + Juliet? Am I going to have to start this fucking hype train myself?

(Also my wife falls asleep very quickly and I've only watched through the end of ep 3 so far so don't spoil me on how they reinterpret the extant myths ok thx)

I've seen some notes about how they had a trans man playing Canaeus on Netflix's Kaos, and how great that was, but very little about how they have a disabled actor (Mat Fraser) playing Daedelus. And what an incredible, complicated role it is in the show; a man doing the best he can with what he has, using his incredible talents as much as he can. Fraser is a remarkable performer in a hell of a role. (source)

I love it when trans actors play trans characters because they do it perfectly (of course). And when they get to play a romantic lead, I’m going bonkers.

I’m talking about Misia Butler as Caeneus in Kaos, on Netflix, he did it perfectly.

And the series did it amazingly. HIS MUM, it’s perfect. Love this guy

One of the things I like most about Kaos is how...different the characters are compared to how they're viewed in mythology. I've seen some people complain about it, but I'm pretty sure they were written this way 100% on purpose to hammer in the theme of defiance.

We're introduced to Dionysus being the wild child of the gods, but do you know what we barely see him with? WINE! ALCOHOL! DRUGS! NOTHING! He actually acts as a caretaker for Dennis for most of the show, and his motivation for doing everything is to take on MORE RESPONSIBILITY! And yet, responsibility and proving yourself doesn't seem like something the god of wild frenzy would give a fuck about.

Hera....the mother fucking queen of the gods...aka THE GODDESS OF WOMEN, MARRIAGE, AND FAMILY is having an affair (I know they all have affairs in mythology, but it's more about what's happening in the context of this show), and instead of jumping on the "we need to preserve the family" bandwagon with Zeus immediately, she's actively trying to get him to calm down and forget about the prophecy that will destroy the family! Not to mention, she's got an army of tongueless women who were willing to be separated from their families to serve her.

Hades, who is usually painted as an intimidating, stoic god of the dead who hates Zeus....is actually a tired, anxious middle management type who ends up rolling over for Zeus in the pool scene.

And don't get me started on Orpheus and Eurydice.

The only one who seems like his usual self is Zeus. He's still the same power hungry, malevolent, self-centered, king of the gods. And yet, the harder he tries to defy his prophecy, the more likely it is to come to fruition.
