“Listen, you look like a capable man and I respect that, but that place has some really weird vibes and I wouldn’t suggest going in alone or at all.” And that was quite a warning, considering Damaris was constantly placing herself in danger for the fuck of it, but where he was headed freaked her out.
Teldryn watched the woman out from behind the glass of his mask, and gave small chuckle. "It's a good thing I'm not alone, isn't it?" He asked indicating, of course, her. He glanced at the cave entrance then back, "look, I don't do favors for people often, but I said I'd fetch a book in there for someone. I'll pay you if you help me."
Odd. Usually this happened the other way around.
“I’ve spent enough time on Solstheim to last a lifetime.”
I’m literally never going to name any verses ever idk why I keep up this charade...
“My childhood was spent in Solitude and once I became a teenager, I started studying at the Bard’s College to become an entertainer at local inns. I would study for a short time at the College of Winterhold every now and then. I also learned a bit of magic from my aunt. I’ve worked in every area in Skyrim at least once. And now I’m here in Solstheim.” Since she mainly stayed at inns and only adventured in fairly safe lands, Tamare didn’t have much need for self defense, but she was fully prepared, now with the added support of Teldryn.
“Now, about that drink?” The Imperial was still waiting for that Shein, wondering what it tasted like.
"Ah, I see." It all sounded pretty dull to him. Bards college. College of Winterhold. He shuddered internally. Teldryn had never been a fan of 'formal education'. It seemed useless to him. Throw him into a situation and he'd figure it out... But he could respect the fact she seemed well travled-- well enough if you counted simply staying in Skyrim.
"And now you're in Solstheim," he repeated, and pushed the bottle of Shein Geldis sat on the counter towards her. "It's good to get out and... expand your horizons. I've never been one to enjoy sitting around somewhere for too long. And sadly I've been in Solstheim for a very long time..." Teldryn muttered the last part ruefully and looked very displeased.
He was very displeased.
I think I’ve settled on godfrey gao as a fc for teldryn. He doesn’t have the mohawk and he’s mostly not a period fc like you all like using. but I honestly dgaf-- he works great.

“Maybe you should’ve,” she remarked. “He’s a disgusting bastard who doesn’t deserve to live.”
Maybe I should have killed him. That wasn’t her job though, not this time. No doubt someone would put a hit out on him eventually.
She offered a genuine smile and said, “I saw that. It was actually impressive. It’s the only thing that makes me think you’d actually be a decent hireling.” Her smile turned to one of mirth as she asked, “Is this seat taken?” She motioned to the empty chair at his table, and before receiving a response, she sat down and relaxed, kicking her right leg over her left and bouncing it softly.
“It wasn’t anything from me,” she replied to his question. “He stole something that belonged to a dead girl. Her mother hired me to get it back.”
Lea looked the Dunmer over, wondering what was hidden behind the helmet. The only glimpse it offered of his face were through the two glass circles for eyes, and they were too small to see much of anything. She wondered if there were huge scars or was some deformation he was hiding; more than likely, he was simply trying to avoid filling his lungs with the ash-filled air. Boring. The idea of serious scarring was far more interesting.
Instead of asking about the helmet, she inquired about him being hired. “How’d you end up with him anyway? And what were you two hoping to find in that ruin?”
He didn't say anything. But there were lines he WOULDN'T cross with his patrons. Killing them just because he didn't agree with the things they did was generally one of them. Perhaps there were exceptions, but people who were thieves were not one of those... Maybe leaving would lead to a person’s death-- as it had before, but he wouldn't be the one wielding the blade. He'd let whatever Azura planned to have happen come to be...
"Go ahead," Teldryn said when she asked if the empty chair at the small table was taken, and smirked under his mask, "I do well for myself..." He wouldn't argue that he was CLEARLY more than just decent. Who did he have to prove himself to? This girl? The one who had done nothing to prove herself to him but hide?
Oddly he didn't find that all too impressive.
"Ah, well. It seems as if he will likely get what is coming to him anyway," he said with a shrug, leaning back in the spindly little chair Geldis had at his tables. It wasn't his problem anymore. And if this woman had gotten what she was after it wasn't her problem either. "Though I will say -- it will be awfully awkward if we see him walking through that door when he wakes up and realizes he alone..." A little amusing. But awkward all the same.
He turned his head, and scanned the woman from under the glass of his eyepieces, before shrugging once more. "He paid me, and I followed him. That's usually how these things work," Teldryn said dryly, but rolled his eyes. "Azura knows what he was looking for-- I've never understood you Outlander's obsessions with dead cultures. Perhaps what the Dwemmer made was impressive, but I've seen enough of their-- more painful devices to know I'm happy they're gone and it's no loss to us."
“I had learned early to assume something dark and lethal hidden at the heart of anything I loved. When I couldn’t find it, I responded, bewildered and wary, in the only way I knew how: by planting it there myself.”

“I grew up in Skyrim, yes. Is it really that dangerous out there? I don’t even want to know what an Ashspawn is.” Even though Tamare was used to exploring the wilds of Skyrim, she was confident in her magical combat abilities. It never hurt to have back-up though. Especially that of a man with such a lovely voice. Assuming that he was indeed a Dunmer, the Imperial’s curiosity to see his face was growing stronger by the minute. Best not to annoy her new bodyguard with that for now.
"I lived in Skyrim for a few years," Teldryn said slowly. A few years he would take back if he could, wasting it on people he shouldn't have wasted his life on-- but there was nothing he could do about that now. "Solstheim is a lot like... Northern Skyrim. Cold, and inhospitable, where no one ever wants to go." There was a reason Winterhold was practically empty years after the great collapse. It wasn't just because Nords hated magic. "Take that for what you will..."
He moved to take a seat before he spoke again, “Where are you from? Solitude? I know there are a lot of bards there...”
‘ I need to find shelter for the night – MORROWIND is dark & full of terrors that even I wish to avoid. ’ her gaze is anxious , the people of Morrowind are her children too & well worth the imminent terror so long as her message of unconditional love is spread.
"Fair enough, Outlander," Teldryn muttered casting a glance up at the sky. It wasn't only night, it looked like there would end up being an ash storm soon-- maybe he'd be able to get something out of this, but he wanted to get out of the open right now as well.
"There's a town a couple miles this way," he beckoned, placing his hand on his sword-- just in case he needed it. "What are you doing out here at night, anyway? Not smart."
Oh, little darling, Atlas has nothing on you. You are all old aches and forced bravado, but watch how you sink when no one can see you. You wear the posture of a hundred years— so warped and winded not even the mirror still knows you.
