Terry Boot // Ravenclaw
a quiet boy who wasn’t vibrantly colored, faded to the background and long halls of hogwarts.

malfoy, draco
Draco glared at the other male after hearing his last remark. Although it was slightly true, he was feeling extra pissy today. “ I just so happened to have to put up with Slughorn’s class today. ” He replied to the Ravenclaw’s question. “ How people actually enjoy attending his class, I don’t understand. Snape was by far a better Potions professor than his is. ”
“he’s a bit off isn’t he? he told me a thirty minute story last tuesday about a stair case he got stuck on, and then he told me to same story yesterday,” he could’ve stopped slughorn in the first five minutes, but it was too funny when he’d guess certain things and see the professor get so shocked, as if to say ‘how could he have known?’. “why are you taking it? i mean, i know you’re good at it, or whatever” he shrugged, not wanting to give too much praise to anyone in general, “besides, i’d probably like if flitwick was in potions too. although, he’s not as known for his house preference,” terry hadn’t been victim of snape’s rampages, but only because he’d always been one to fade into the background.
brown, lavender
Lavender sat outside on a bench, the weather was nice so she didn’t want o sit in the common room and read. Sitting there she sighed looking over at someone who was walking and she smiled as she eagerly got up, “So what do you think? It’s a good day isn’t it? Sorry to randomly get up and say this, but I am just very excited right now. This weather just really gets me in a good mood.”
terry’s eyes didn’t leave the parchment in front of him, looking over his partners work, only half paying attention “i suppose,” he said, after all, he had chosen to sit outside today, that had to mean something. “the weather’s good, whether it’s a good day is entirely up to whether i get an o on this assignment or not.”
terry liked his roommates, or at least he tried too. but between yelling at each other, laughing and the constant throwing of anything they could find, he had a headache almost every night. it wasn’t as much of a wonder to them as to why terry was constantly found sleeping almost anywhere. the only light left was on terry’s right side, his glasses were slid down his nose, hanging at the bridge. had marcus been awake, he would’ve undoubtedly teased him about looking like a librarian. his eyesight wasn’t too debilitating, only having to use them when he needed to read in a dim place. since he’d made that bit a habit, much like some of his other housemates, he had to use them more than his parents would’ve liked.
he tried to keep a keen eye on the clock on the same bedside table, he wasn’t a stranger to the way time passed. it wasn’t until he’d heard micheal’s loud snoring that he looked again, seeing that it was a quarter until midnight, he got up fairly quickly, nodding to his last roommate who had yet to fall asleep, it wasn’t as if he slipped out often, and as long as he didn’t get caught- no one really cared. at least, in his dorm. he was sure if he’d been caught by any prefect it’d be another story entirely. terry was careful walking down the halls and to the kitchens, looking around the corridors he felt like a spy he’d read about. approaching the kitchens, or at least the corridor it was in, he started to instead look for the prefects, he began looking for art.
@little-lion-artemis
“Really? I found it quite hilarious,” Pansy said with a shrug before laughing a bit. “Well Flitwick’s lesson doesn’t start for twenty three minutes. You’re welcome.” It had become a habit of hers to memorize the schedule - it gave her something to think about that wasn’t the impending doom - and people tended to admire it. She liked being admired. “The library is actually made for studying, not getting neck problems but… you know, to each their own I guess.”
“thank you,” terry backtracked, sighing in relief, at least that was one thing he didn’t have to worry about. “neck problems? oh no, my whole body has gotten used to sleeping everywhere. it’s a sort of super power, you know. a useful one too! i’ve mastered sleeping while standing against a wall, a wooden bench, you name it, i’ve gone it. besides, i WAS studying, but you know, i’ve grown above it.”
varrowe, ana
She’d been looking for him all day. Terry was not in any of their shared classes, the common room, or even the Great Hall. The only other place she assumed he’d be was the library so Ana scoured the sections until she spotted the lanky body of her friend and she stepped forward with a tiny bit of annoyance showing on her face. Her fingers nudged his shoulder and she watched him wake up, rolling her eyes. “The year two thousand one, you’ve been sleeping for four years. Welcome to the future, Boot.” Ana settled down into a nearby seat with a smile on her face.
terry groaned, rubbing his head as he looked to who’d woken him up, “is my hair officially out of fashion then?” he asked, pursing his lips, “i’ve just gotten it cut, it’d be terrible if the fashion had changed to being bald. i don’t think i’d look very good bald.” he squinted, imagining himself without his dark hair before shaking his head, “four years and i still haven’t graduated, a sad life really, isn’t it?”
“Oh please, he would lose even if Long-Tail was out of the game.” Ron said with an eye roll and kept walking harshly down the hall. “That isn’t really a calming piece of information, but thanks. I just hope he’s smart enough to run away.” Ron said. “I never really liked cats.” He admitted.
“i’ll have you know beans has improved since last year, he’s only stopped to lick his fur twice this year, astounding improvement since last year.” terry was proud of his pet, considering how ditsy the rat usually was, it seemed like it was finally starting to turn his way. “i mean, rats are animals, they have to have some kind of survival instinct, it’ll be fine.” it was a hesitant tone and he might’ve sped up just in case.
carter, artemis
artemis nodded. “big ol fireplace. but I can’t stay there too long. too hot and all that. well that would make sense as to why there wouldn’t be one in yours. I’m sure there would be an uprising if anything caught on fire,” she replied with a chuckle. strangely enough, artemis hadn’t been in any of the other common rooms. she made a mental note to do that. “see? totally works out. yeah of course. i just thought everyone already knew about it. that’s okay I don’t mind,” she replied with a smile.
“i think sue li almost killed me last year for spilled milk on one of her books, so fire would be the worst.” he rubbed his own hands together, looked at them, “i’m almost always cold,” which explained why terry almost never went anywhere without a couple layers on, “it’s something to do with iron or something? s’not too bad, just get a little chilly and i don’t really donate blood,” he listed before pointing at her, “you’re a good gal, art.”
malfoy, draco
Draco’s eyes met with the Ravenclaw now walking alongside him. “ Boot, don’t you have some sleep to catch up on? ” he asked coldly. He had nothing against the other male, but after spending an entire class of listening to one of his least favorite teachers, he didn’t have much patience.
“i wish,” he sighed, mimicking the other, “i’m trying this new thing, only fourteen hours a day. it’s not really ideal, but anthony thought it was ‘healthier’ and it would lead me to a better lifestyle.” he made sure to lift his fingers and quote his roommate. what was wrong with sleeping? not everyone in this school needed to look so damn tired all the time, he didn’t voice it, but draco had been an easy example of it, “is the wand in your arse especially stuck today? or are you regularly this charming?”
━━ “It would, though, it might be pretty moot when we’re away on holidays. — — Oi!! I was going to offer to make you something, I’ve got a minute, but if you’re going to go and make incorrect ASSUMPTIONS about me, I might as well just go study.” Sitting in front of him, she put her chin in her hands, “I’ve made some donuts for Ana, if you’re LUCKY I’ll add ‘em on.”
“if it’s three in the afternoon and i’m asleep at home, it’d be a miracle if my mum doesn’t wake me up. so if that’s the case-- you’re more than welcome to floo over and hit me in the head with a book,” he shrugged, looking indifferent, “or something,” terry laughed than, small not overly so, “how can the elves not mind you being around them, twice i’ve been in the kitchen TWICE and it’s not like they kicked me out per say, but i don’t think they’d like me making donuts.” he pouted before snapping his fingers as if realizing something, “it’s probably because you’re about the same size, maybe they think you’re one of them han. the whole take me to your leader thing.”
lovegood, luna
curiosity flood through luna’s system like oxygen. it was part of who she was, something she had grown up developing into a trait that was defining, and when eyes caught the other person’s appearance she could not help but comment, “you look different.”
his eyebrows furrowed, squinted eyes looking at the fellow ravenclaw, “really?” he asked, giving a shrug, “i haven’t grown any, pretty sure i’ve finished growing last year.”
greengrass, daphne
“unicorns are truly amazing creatures, aren’t they?,” mused daphne, not looking up from her notes, lips curled in a small smile. “i mean, they’re distrustful of men, and that’s pretty damned smart. besides, they’re gorgeous.”
“yeah, great, really smart.” he answered, rolling his eyes, “'spose the whole distrusting thing has a whole backstory i’m not exactly eager to hear, so i’ll just you know, lead with how harsh that it. and that yeah, unicorns are pretty.”
potter, harry
“What was Dumbledore thinking, giving Snape the Defense position?” Harry muttered. He was still a bit salty that he’d been enlisted in a recruitment effort that had, a) made Snape the DADA Professor but also, b) had caused Harry to become a Very Reluctant Member of the Slug Club. He glared down at his DADA essay, then blew out a sigh, leaning back in his chair and catching the eye of the person on the other side of the table.
“snape’s been chasing after that job for years, it was only a matter of time.” he shrugged, tossing a hacky sack he’d seen left in the great hall a few days ago, “besides, it’s not that bad, well, you know, not bad for me. for you it’s probably terrible.
carter, artemis
artemis nodded, listening to him. “that does tend to be where one sleeps,” she teased gently. “sometimes i do fall asleep by the fire though. sketching so i get that,” she added with a nod. “three times? geez. i just re-read mine once or twice. but i’m not too picky about little things here and there. as long as the majority is right and sounds good to me. but to each their own,” she told him with a nod. “yeah no problem. we could meet tonight? midnight? and i’ll teach you how to get in. i’m pretty much always hungry.”
“fire? right, right your common room has that fireplace, doesn’t it? to be fair, if i wanted, i don’t really need to come here, i think almost any book i’d want to read is there at any given moment. ‘fraid they probably wouldn’t put a fireplace in, with all the paper around, you know.” he shrugged, the only other common room he’d even been in was the hufflepuff one, and that was once when he’d been particularly tired. “considering my sleeping schedule’s already been mucked up for this, might as well. you’ll teach me the secret? i can’t promise i won’t forget and bother you again.”
