Counter point, those machines can make me a peach sprite.
guys did you know the tech in that nefangled machine revolutionized preemie healthcare
yeah the guy who invented them made incredibly precise infusion pumps (as opposed to gravity fed ivs) which not only meant they could give medications to teeny tiny babies safely, it's also used for insulin pumps and portable dialysis machines. the key element is that it's a peristaltic pump so the liquid stays in sterile tubing for safety
(unholy drink cloaca uses it to dispense precise amounts of flavored sugar syrup)
Super interesting but I have to reblog a post about unholy drink cloaca.

before you beat yourself up for not cleaning, ask yourself:
is there a proper place to put the things you're tidying up?
a lot of times i would find myself struggling to finish cleaning things when the real problem was that I didn't actually have a permanent place for things to go once I had actually picked them up.
once I was making sure I had shelves or bins or organization things first, it became a lot easier to actually finish tidying things up since I knew where things were supposed to belong
back for another productive saturday. i already got a lot written in an hour. don't underestimate the power of writing by hand if you're feeling stuck.

“Take year 3 student Emma Glenfield, who started with a simple question about magpies and wound up conducting some cutting-edge research almost by accident."
Emma Glenfield wants to know why magpies swoop. She's conducting some cutting-edge research — and displaying her results with Lego.
"I watched the people he swooped and I recorded it," Emma said.
"Then I got everything I recorded and I figured out that the people Mr Swoopsalot swooped were male, they were tall, and that they had thin or receding hair."
omg she made a graph of the results using Lego she's incredible
@woolandflax magpies the enemy???
If I ever wrote a superhero story I’d want there to be a recurring shitty C-list supervillain in the background whose power was changing something’s colour and all her villainous plots would be colour-themed things like “If the city council doesn’t give me a million dollars, I will turn the city of GREEN Bay into the city of RED Bay!” and she’d turn the Golden Gate Bridge magenta or whatever.
So it’s all low-stakes villainy, but everyone absolutely hates fighting her because her very shitty superpower works really really well, and there are dozens of background characters who’ve fought her that are just permanently green now
#the wildest thing about this is that it COULD be incredibly powerful #you turn solar panels white they aren’t gonna work anymore and that’s gonna fuck up your whole grid on a very Temperature day #you can blind people the same way #turn some water red. make your own murder scene #fuck up traffic and hide warning signs. or fences. or a building #blackmail your local hidden spy facility with neons #absolutely demolish a politician’s career because who can take a bright lime guy seriously? #red tides are devastating for a tourist beach economy #that sort of thing. you get it #but the point is she’s got all the tools and she’s hitting the nail with a wrench for no reason
@hedgewitchnecromancer yes exactly. “You can alter any material on the fly and you’re using it for superpowered vandalism?! You could destroy the environment by changing the colour of chlorophyll!”
“But I don’t want to destroy the environment. I want to turn Yellowstone purple.”
#‘she’s got all the tools and she’s hitting the nail with a wrench for no reason’ is a great way to describe it

Seeing posts racking-up tens of thousands of notes implies the existence of a great multitude of tumblr users, but that is false. We both know it’s just you and me on here.
i know we're all sick of self-care being a marketing tactic now, but i don't think a lot of us have any other concept of self-care beyond what companies have tried to sell us, so i thought i'd share my favorite self-care hand out
brought to you by how mad i just got at a Target ad
OP this is EXCELLENT
Now THAT’S a self care resource! If you’ve gotten distracted by capitalism’s appropriation of “self-care” and watering the meaning down to nothing this is a super helpful guide to cut through the bullshit.
i fucking hate the “this is the good luck post.” Girl stop contributing to a superstitious environment with ur anecdotes there’s a million goddamn notes on it it’s statistically reasonable that a bunch of people remember the good things that happen after they reblog it
this is the statistically reasonable post, reblogging it will have no effect except for putting this post on your blog
guys this post really works! I reblogged it and it really did put the post on my blog! you need to try it!
I am forever grateful to an archivist mentor I worked with in grad school for some resume advice she gave me and thought maybe others would also benefit from it.
Keep a Master Resume.
This is not the resume you send out. This is a detailed resume of every job (with dates and location, supervisor and location phone number are a bonus) and as many skills/duties/accomplishments you can possibly think of for each and every one of the jobs and education programs you can think of.
She showed me hers, it was about 25 pages long, and formatted exactly like a regular resume for ease. Every time she would learn a new program/skill, she'd add it. Change in title or duties, add it. Complete something big/special/complicated/new to her/professionally significant, she would add it. This way when she went up for a promotion or raise, she had a detailed record of highlights to pick from to show she deserved it. There was no "when was that? Did I submit that last round of reviews?"
Applying to a new job? Pick and choose items from your Master Resume to plug in to the resume or CV you will be sending based on the job posting. You don't need to rewrite it, just cut and paste relevant details.
I am applying to a job not exactly my field but with enough skill cross over that I feel I would be a good fit. Being able to build out a resume by cutting and pasting from the Master Resume is saving me so much time and energy. The info is there, I just need to plug it in to the file I send. Since both are already formatted, piece of cake!
I can't recommend it enough.

Something the AI text boom has made me realize is that "no information" is significantly better than "wrong information."
I just saw Doordash AI describe a gallon of blue cheese dressing as a "sweet and refreshing beverage concentrate."
