Another redesign!!! After the moon, I brought the sun! Ok so I have a BIG ramble abt my Tia, forgive the grammar since I have to type out the whole text again after my phone ran out of battery during my first attempt n I‘m tired (´°̥̥̥ω°̥̥̥`)
- Hear me out, since my Tia has a bit more flaws than the show one!
After Luna was banished, the council including Starswirl forced Celestia to take over the control over the moon and act like Luna never existed. Since the show hinted, that the tale of the two sisters was rlly just seen as a „fictional” tale, I like to build on the idea that most ponies really didn’t know that Celestia had a sister. That’s why my Celestia’s cutie make was warped when the power was forced upon her, which led her to grow deep hatred against the council, her people and herself. My Celestia has become more apathetic. She doesn’t see her subjects as respectable beings, she sees them as baggage. Sth that took away her sister, mocking her by telling spooky tales or celebrating degrading holidays, without her being able to say anything, as she had to uphold history. She resents them and only wants to use them as tools to get her sis back, cut to the elements of Harmony.
Since the whole Sunset Shimmer thing happened, I can imagine that Celestia must have took in plenty of students over the years, not to empower them but to train them as her tool. They must be obedient, competent and have the talent for the Elements! If they fail, they’re immediately dropped. Once she found the perfect tool, Twilight Sparkle, she used her to get her sister back. When Luna came back, Celestia was overjoyed but still kept at bay. That’s my reason why the princesses never do anything in the show haha, Celestia could care less what happens to her subjects, as long as her sister ist safe. That’s why she tries to keep them away from major threats, like Discord. Twilight literally only made friends like some weeks ago, now she’s supposed to be ready to fight CHAOS itself??? Nahh. Celestia just wanted to keep Luna away from trouble, maybe fearing anything negative might trigger another Nightmare Moon incident (falling back to bad habits of underestimating her sister).
Over time, Luna shows Celestia the reasons why she should trust more and appreciate the life around her. I like the idea of Celestia actually having a process of well - learning that friendship is magic herself haha. Twilights letters def help. Long ramble ik, but I’d love to give Tia more depth even if it firstly puts her in a bad light.
While I find the au idea of an evil Celestia fun, I wanted to go more into the effects the sister conflict had in the two princesses. No one was truly evil, just a symptom of their experiences. Since the show doesn’t really go into the consequences of the banishment (including itself) I really wanted to explore it more, even if it may put them in a bad light first!
