being in this fandom since 2023 is kind of wild when i think about it. Like i saw the fandom's ways of seeing AvA's cast change so much it's kind of endearing now when i look at the old fanfics.
Victim went from being seen as goody ghost/angel to the man behind corporate evil in the Outernet who wants to take revenge on the god but also hates chosen because he is stronger than him to a man who is just so broken he just wants his wife back, and then transformed into a god like entity himself only to die again.
Also Dark's character is also portrayed differently, for a long time fanfics or fancomics after showdown often tried to show unhealthy dynamic but also to show they still care about eachother and that it was mostly misscommunication and that dark does it bc of code and stuff. Of course thats just putting it simply, i saw lots of other interpretations of him, but that's what lowkey made me his fan too, we didn't know much about his personality i guess, so fans took it into their own hands.
And after AvA13...well let's say most of those interpretations weren't correct because this guy is evil for the fun of the game for now and honestly im here for it. But also that made fanfics rather brutal too when it comes to Chodark, which, understandable.
BUT THATS SO COOL TO LOOK BACK AT THE OLD FICS and see what has changed!
especially that the episodes come out once in over 6 months atleast, fans have time to think about potential plotlines, character dynamics, au's etc. it makes episodes feel more impactfull.
And talking about impactfull episodes, does anyone also feel like AvA11 made the fandom change a bit? like it made the whole vibe a bit different. Maybe with how character perception changed, maybe with how filled with worldbuilding it was for me, or maybe the fact that i was obsessed with the idea of ava11 coming out for one year and even had dreams about it.
okay coming back to my yapping (i really need to beta read some of my posts bc its schizophrenic yapping at this point) i just wanted to say its very clear for me in AvA atleast when certain fanfic was written, before what episode. being there before even AvA9 premiered was wild experience because i haven't seen in any fandom yet besides AvA/m to have their view on characters change this much. And i love it. It's so fun to think about.
