Caved In | Giovanni and Tabitha
team-magma-admin-tabitha:
Once the beam of light from Giovanniâs flashlight hit Tabitha, he froze and let out an almost inaudible whimper. It wasnât that he was intimidated, haha, no⊠it was that the light was shining too brightly in his eyes.
And that he had a sinking feeling that he knew who this man was.
Anywho, this guy was asking Tabithaâs permission to apologize? No, that was Tabithaâs job. He was supposed to ask offenders to apologize. The Magma Admin stood up as steadily as he could, partially covering his face with his glove to save his eyes from the flashlight.
âAn apology is in order.â
Tabitha frowned. Part of him wanted to yell at this man for, admittedly, letting his Gliscor frighten him, but the other part of him knew that this guy wouldnât listen. He had a businessman aura, which Tabitha knew was never a good thing in an enemy. Ah well. He was still a bit mad.
âYou just let that PokĂ©mon loose in a fragile cave system like this!? That was not only irresponsible, but it was irrespectful to the formations that have spent millions of year forming, and it was-â
Tabithaâs scolding, which sounded a lot like what he would yell at a grunt, was cut short by his Crobat landing on his shoulder. Tabitha yelled and stumbled forward, not expecting the big bat. Tabitha glared at the Crobat. He really wasnât in the mood for this. He balled up his fist and brought it quickly into a long stalagmite, going against what he had yelled at Giovanni for.
âYou never saw me.â Tabitha hissed in Giovanniâs direction before stepping out of the flashlightâs beam. He stormed out of the cave, Crobat still on his back.
Or, at least, he tried to. The cave had been cut off at that point by what felt like a rock slide.
Tabitha wanted to scream and punch rocks until he ran out of oxygen. First he was getting no luck in this dingy cave, then he was embarrassed in front of someone presumably important, and now he was beginning to draw the conclusion that the man was the one to trap him in here. This was a terrible expedition. Once he reported to Maxie on thisâŠ
Grunts were always better for doing things like this. At least their tempers werenât as short. At least most of them werenât as impulsive as thier admin.
Tabitha stuck his hand into his pocket in search of a Pokéball, but alas, he had only brought one. Groaning and pinching the bridge of his nose, he had a feeling that he would be in here for a while.
Perhaps venturing into caves was too much for him if the sight of a PokĂ©mon was enough to frighten him so badly. Irresponsible? That was rich. While Gliscor was non-native to the region, it had come from Johtoâs Dark Caveâas analogous a location to this one as there could be. It was hardly a danger to the rock formations.
No more so than the Crobat that landed on the manâs shoulder. Giovanni watched his temper flare, taking it out on one of the nearby formations. For once, Giovanni was the one keeping his cool while someone else lost theirs. It seemed the only one causing harm to the environment here was this fool. Maxie really needed to be more particular about his grunts.
The man attempted to make an exitâand an embarrassing one at thatâonly to be halted by the fallen rocks. It seemed the cave-in had affected more than just the area of the tunnel Giovanni had been in at the time. That wasnât an encouraging sign.âš
Giovanni had never been a believer in the idea that two heads made better than one. More often than not, getting someone else involved in a task was a sure way to slow you down. But if the man was part of Team Magma, that meant he was native to the region. A familiarity with the cave system could be useful in navigating any tunnels that remained unblocked. And if the worst case scenario was true and they were surrounded on all sides, wellâthere would be no getting away from him anyway.
âI canât imagine this situation becoming much worse, but if you continue punching things it very well might,â he said, continuing to shine his flashlight on the man. It was hardly the right thing to say to diffuse the someoneâs temper, but really, Giovanni only had so much patience when it came to childish outbursts.Â
âGliscor is no danger to the caves.â As he said it, it occurred to Giovanni that the source of the manâs anger toward his Pokemon could very well be that he believed Gliscor was the cause of their current predicament. âAnd as flattering as it is for you to think she would be capable of an earthquake on this scale, she is hardly powerful enough to have been the cause.â
Gliscor made a noise that could have been laughter, and Giovanniâs lips quirked upward at the idea she might find this grunt as entertaining as he did. âIâm going to search for an exit,â he said, âFeel free to start making yourself useful at any time.â
Tabitha crossed his arms and looked into the darkness, facing away from the manâs flashlight. Oh, he could make the situation much worse if he wanted to. This guy seemed to be asking for it. Even if this guy thought that the situation couldnât get any worse, Tabitha knew that it could. In fact, he had been in worse situations. He was very tempted to grin to himself and âaccidentallyâ slam his fist into a wall of crumbled rock just to show this man that the situation could definitely get worse. Then he would laugh about it.Â
But then they would run out of oxygen and likely die. Tabitha frowned. He didnât really want that.Â
While his face was turned, Tabitha mouthed âGliscor is no danger to the cavesâ in a mocking fashion. Any Pokemon could be dangerous anywhere. Even the most harmless Magikarp was dangerous. He could recall many times that his grunts had been injured by Magikarp. Embarrassing, yes, but lesson learned. Tabitha was beginning to feel safer around this guy as his doubt about his authority over him grew. If Gliscor couldnât cause an earthquake, then it must be quite a weak Pokemon. Going back to the Magikarp point, he had seen Magikarp with tails powerful enough to crush rock. Tabitha was beginning to drift off from the main point. Magikarp were strong, yes, but... wasnât his first rebuttal more about the physical weakness of the grunts than of the strength of the Magikarp?
Well, back to the cause of the âquake. What could it have been, then? It certainly wasnât his Crobat, and it certainly wasnât him... An outside force, maybe? A Camerupt, possibly? A Numel gone rogue?
Well, this guy could search for an exit all he wanted. Tabitha knew this area pretty well, and if there wasnât an exit on the other side, there probably wasnât an exit at all. At that point Tabitha decided that he would have to start punching.
âHave fun.â he called, rubbing the short fur behind Crobatâs ears. He walked away from the flashlightâs beam and to the nearest blockage. Turning to the Crobat perched on his shoulder, he snorted. Crobat snorted back. They made a pretty good team, didnât they?
âCrobat.â Tabitha lifted the enormous bat off of his shoulder and sat down. He was lucky that the Pokemon didnât weigh as much as he looked. Sure, Crobat was heavy, but he definitely wasnât the heaviest thing the Magma Admin had ever lifted.
âSearch this wall for weaknesses starting at the top. Iâll start down here and work my way up. Got it?â Tabitha looked into the Crobatâs big eyes. Crobat twitched his ears and made a quick clicking noise before silently fluttering up to the top of the blockage. Meanwhile, Tabitha made himself busy checking the lower section of the rock wall for any loose rocks. Sure, there were a few, but if he removed any of them there would be a bigger collapse. Every now and then he would check on his Crobat, with the big Pokemon giving no positive replies. If there was something to report on, he would have swooped down to make sure Tabitha knew this was urgent.
After Tabitha reached a section of the wall that he would need to stand up to feel, he decided to ask the man he was stuck with if he had any luck. Well, why not? Even if it was sarcastic, he was still attempting to interact with the guy.
âAny luck over there?â Tabitha yelled, his voice echoing throughout the small passage.Â
