Team Earth Gemineids Exchange fic for @apathbacktoyou​

Preview:

Elena learns in her teen years how to cope with the foreign emotions that reach across the distance between her and her soulmate. Blank sheets of paper and stretched canvases become their landing pad; brushes, pastels, charcoal, and pencils are the shunts that relieve the pressure and let the feelings out in a safe place. Whoever her soulmate is, they don’t seem to get angry or sad much, but they do get stressed often, and they hold onto it in a way that sometimes feels like a hand around her throat.

What’s wrong today? Elena occasionally thinks in the mystery person’s direction as she gives a pencil free reign over a sheet of paper. What happened? Tell me what’s hurting you.

Sometimes she searches the series of finished pictures, wondering if the other person’s subconscious guided her hand to give her a clue, however tiny, about who they are and where to find them. She never finds anything beyond depictions of the same anxious feeling that tends to make her reach for her sketchbook, drawing whatever is nearby or on her mind with frenetic, hurried strokes. The good thing for her, and hopefully for the other person too, is that art always relaxes her. She hopes, in the back of her mind, that they eventually felt her own emotions bleed through their stress, that the two of them balance each other in some mystic way, like fall taking the edge off summer.

One day in high school, she feels something a little new. A floating feeling, like there’s a warm ball of air in her chest, making her shoulders straighten and her steps more confident.

Several degrees north of Bogota, a young man shakes hands with Nick Fury and receives his badge, now an official graduate of SHIELD Academy.

“Did you ever watch Avatar: the Last Airbender?”

Because this is not a sentence Skye ever expected to hear May say, she just stares dumbly at her in the mirror for a moment.

“Yes or no?” May says, catching Skye’s eye and snapping her out of her stupor.

“Um, yeah. Not much of it, but maybe half a season?”

May nods once. “Okay. Well, the water-bending you saw in that series is actually based on tai chi.”

Realizing suddenly where this is going, Skye sees her own face light up in the mirror.

“Oh my god, are we about to start hate fu lessons?”

“Tai chi,” May repeats patiently, shifting her feet out to a wide stance. “Now, do what I do.”

MayDaisy+ First time sharing a dessert 

On a random day in September, May drags Daisy out of the base and flies them north to Canada, where the leaves are already starting to turn. Daisy assumes it’s just a special excursion of a date and glows through every minute of it. In a quiet clearing, May unpacks a picnic of tea and snacks, including one thing Daisy doesn’t recognize–a golden bun stamped with a pretty pattern. Though she initially balks when May tells her it’s “red bean paste” inside, Daisy is surprised by how tasty the treat is and quickly devours three more. On their walk back, Melinda mentions that today is Mid-Autumn Festival, a Chinese holiday on which “mooncakes” are obligatory. That, and looking at the full moon, which the two of them do from a hilltop after the sun goes down.

What a putz

As soon as Jemma hears Fitz’s dad is here she knows what happened to Fitz and it’s no good

Poor Jemma though doesn’t realize that this isn’t going to do her any good at all

I hate everything wheeeeee

But honestly that was just self defense Jemma shouldn’t feel bad

You know, in retrospect Fitz’s actions later in the episode make more sense. I’ve always been bothered by the direction they took with Fitz. Some of it was just to fill in time I think. Couldn’t have Fitz too soon. But some of it makes sense given what we know Aida did to him. She changed out everything good in Fitz’s life with something that warped it (and him) more and more. So of course the same passion he had to rescue Jemma before is now turned against her because she has just killed someone he thinks he loves. But he doesn’t really because his love here is all warped anyway.

I still don’t like it, but I think it makes more sense to me now.

Daisy doesn’t want to say goodbye to Trip again and neither do I

Whew, I’m getting through these but it’s rough. Really this episode rates a 10/10 on the NO THANKS scale because I don’t want any of it except for the part where they went back to the real world. And Trip gets my Super Hug Award because I want you to stay forever. I love you Trip.

The song for this episode is “The Scientist” by Coldplay which I’m surprised I haven’t used before but it definitely represents how much everything hurts.

Is it weird that I’ve kind of missed him?

“No matter the circumstance, none of you could escape your true nature” I mean she’s not entirely wrong. 

Although I do think that labeling Fitz as just a “romantic” is a vast disservice to him. He’s more than that. He’s so full of love and kindness because he knows what it’s like to be without all that. He understands what it’s like to have something and lose it (many times over). All that though has been completely replaced here in the Framework with almost the opposite feelings.

Good decision by Daisy

Aida is the woooooooooooooooooooooorst

She was very smart in keeping Fitz’s dad in his life though, because it not only warped his goodness and kindness, but it kept that hatred whispering in his ear constantly even if she’s not around. Fitz never stood a chance. :(

Oh ok, I guess Phil said he was afraid to join Shield but idk this is very flimsy reasoning for his changed life

Look, all I’m saying is Aida sucked at planning actual human lives surprise surprise

Also note that to change Daisy’s life she had to change Ward’s past as well

Only one more episode in the framework yes? Yay! Oh wait…I know what’s coming and I want no part of it. Sigh. Anyway, I’m giving Aida a 10/10 on the Wonky Evil Plans scale because legit none of this makes sense to my human brain. May and Daisy get a 500/10 on the Awesome Ladies Being Awesome scale though.

While looking at older drawings to find inspiration for the art i’m currently working on, I found this one I had totally forgotten about! It was done for a bang for a Mackelena fic that was never posted. It was a private school AU where Elena is an artist (hence the uniform) It was especially fun working on Elena’s paintings for the background as well as working on these younger versions of the characters :) Anyway, here it is :)

Nope, these episodes are not any easier to watch knowing what happens (in general, I’ve kind of forgotten the specifics). This episode scores a 10/10 on the WELCOME BACK TRIP scale. I love him and miss him. Hey, can we bring him back for season 7??? It also gets a 20/10 on the Heart Break scale. Unfortunately this scale is going to get used again. Fitz’s dad gets my inaugural Bad Dad of the Millennium Award because for real. He is.

I decided on the song “One Thing” by Finger Eleven because it’s emo enough for this episode and also I feel like Mace really did kind of get what he wanted: to be the hero that people needed. In the end he got to be just that, but he still deserved better.

A Wild Ride

Rated E, 7300 words Pairing: FitzSimmons Summary: When Professor Jemma Simmons takes her bike to the mechanic her friend has recommended, she doesn’t expect to find someone so intriguing, interesting and ridiculously attractive as Leo Fitz. Hopefully, her bike will need a lot more fixing. Beta’d by the wonderful @libbyweasley​ who made my words all better :) Written for the square: Character is a biker for @mcukinkbingo​ This is the last story written for this round of kink bingo and I had so much fun plotting all those crazy stories with Libby and @blancasplayground​! Real life got in the way of everything we wanted to write but the ideas are still safe in a word doc waiting to be written <3 “Hu, Hello?” Jemma let out, her voice echoing in the large, high-ceilinged room. There was an old red car on the lift that someone had obviously been working on and three motorbikes —which Jemma took as a good sign— apparently waiting to be taken care of. The rest of the room wasn’t what Jemma expected of a garage though. Sure, there were shelves full of tools and a little engine grease on the floor, but the rest was surprisingly clean. The most surprising thing though was the big desk in the corner, just under the skylight. With its state-of-the-art computer, wide screen, and all the papers, it looked more like an engineer or architect’s desk than something that belonged in a garage. Although it was quite messy. “Hi.” Jemma jumped as she turned around, wondering how someone could have gotten so close without her noticing. “Oh… um… hi,” Jemma mumbled, her eyes going a little wide as she took in the man in front of her. When Bobbi had recommended the guy who took over her dad’s shop when he retired to fix her bike, she hadn’t expected someone like him, so young and dreadfully cute. “What can I help you with?” he asked with an easy smile. And Scottish too. Her friend had spent long minutes telling her how good he was and how he had also fixed every kitchen appliance at her house for free, and she hadn’t thought it worth mentioning his strikingly blue eyes, pretty face and those arms in a fitted white t-shirt? Unbelievable.

The next day, the sky was cloudy again as Melinda followed Bobbi to a different beach, one with fewer rocks and cliffs and calmer waves. Bobbi had a book with her today, and after they spread out their sheet on the sand, she spent most of her time curled over it. Melinda hesitated in silence for nearly an hour, not wanting to ruin the day immediately, but eventually the tension became too much.

“Bobbi, I have to tell you something.”

She waited until the blonde looked up at her to continue.

“I’m a painter. I came here to paint you. I finished your portrait last night.”

At first, Bobbi said nothing, looking down at the book in her hands and closing it slowly. Her mouth pulled tight, a look Melinda could not decipher as anger or sadness.

“I see now why you praised the charms of exile,” Bobbi finally said, looking up with her sharp blue eyes. “You felt guilty.”
