May can imagine the way her own smile must look from the gasp it elicits out of Bobbi. After that, everything she does is calculated and precise: Bobbi has told her before that she finds appealing when May is laying back on her chair and the casual air of authority that she exudes from the gesture. She almost feels Bobbi’s heart rate going up in the trepidation of the room around them.

“Barbara,” she says, and the voice is calm but sure, twirling around the name they use rarely enough for its appearance to make an impression. “I want you to touch yourself.”

Summary: Bobbi wakes up in a strange place, but she soon finds out she's not alone

The last thing Bobbi remembered was pain and a bright light. When she came to again, she found herself in a strange place.

“Hello?” she called out.

There was no sound. Bobbi found no way around it but to get up and start walking. She stood up and turned in a circle. Everything looked the same, so she just turned in one direction and started walking.

She had no idea how long she had been walking before she realized that she wasn’t tired. Or hungry. Or...well, anything. What kind of place was this?

After an undetermined amount of time, the scenery finally began to change. The trees got less sparse, and there were fields stretching out across the landscape. At last she saw signs of another person. A small shelter and a fire. Knowing she should be careful, Bobbi went and hid in some brush. She saw a small person come out of the shelter. A person who looked very familiar.

“May?” she said, popping up out of the bush.

May stared at her for a moment. “Bobbi?”

Bobbi ran forward and embraced May. “I’m so happy to see you here.”

May waited just a moment before pulling away. “I’m happy to see you too. Do you have any clue where we are?”

“No idea,” Bobbi said. “I was hoping you would know.”

A little reasonable okay fine ridiculously long while ago, the absolutely incredible @apathbacktoyou Tricked me in her Trick or Treat to find and rec her five fluff fics. And, like, because I know Lou, and I remember our shared attack of the Jared-19s all too well, I could say that leaving this rec so late was because I was being considerate, and waiting until the chances were a little higher that you’d actually read the things I recced. Actually, you know what, never mind, that’s what I AM saying - that was the plan all along!! It’s totally not because I’m horrifically late for everything and forgetful, too, no, of course not. Considerate, kind, and with this all planned beautifully in advance!! Yes, that’s absolutely me. :D 

me planning this rec: well lou probably isn’t going to read it, and she only said “fluff,” so I can basically rec whatever I want, right? no biggie? 

also me: *goes and searches specifically for short-ish and very sweet femslash fics with May ships because I know there’s a reasonably good chance of Lou liking those*

Baking Cookies by @shieldivarius - my searches for a fic you definitely haven’t read yet took me down some interesting avenues (and through the years too, LMAO) but the first thing I found and liked was this! I never even dreamed that May/Natasha would be a thing, but apparently it is, and apparently they... bake cookies? 🤣🤣😍 This one is short, sweet and pretty darn great, even if it is pretty old by fic standards. And it makes May/Natasha - Maywidow? - work so well, too, it’s really pretty awesome. I’d 100% recommend this author’s other fics for this pairing, as well!

Pink hearts are stupid (and mine is too) by @creedoftheseamstress - another rarepair for you, Lou my love! This one is May/Hill, and it’s set in a high school AU on Valentine’s day (featuring a delightful dislike of the holiday on May’s part.) It’s super sweet and fluffy, and again not too long, and I just love it so much for a ship I’ve never read before, it’s really pretty amazing xD

fun and games by @bobbimorseisbisexual - here we have two of the most badass and beautiful SHIELD ladies together, and even more badass and beautiful (with a healthy dose of hilarious, awkward and absolutely FAB.) That’s right, I’m talking about Maybobbi, and a prank war fic - and, since it’s written by the legend that is Al, it’s guaranteed to be completely fantastic. And it is exactly that.

a soft epilogue by @loved-the-stars-too-fondly - I have three words for you, and they are, Maybobbi being mothers. Specifically: Maybobbi being mothers to Robin Hinton, and an absolutely ADORABLE little OC!! 😍 This is just the softest, most ADORABLE thing, and I was grinning like an idiot right through. Super fluffy, lovely stuff, and SO well written!! Aubrey is truly a gem 💜

Carry Me ‘Til You Marry Me by circ_bamboo on AO3 - okay, this one doesn’t exactly fall under the “short and sweet” category, given that it is... *coughs* 13k words long. But, Lou. Lou. When I read its summary, I knew instantly that it just had to be on this list - because, AHHHHH, it’s the SHIELD team getting beamed up by some nice, friendly aliens, who, after seeing May and Bobbi spar, and hear that they’re not married, are so shocked that they decide to remedy the situation immediately. Which is to say: May and Bobbi get married by the resident Nice Aliens™. And, okay, maybe these aliens aren’t quite as incredible as Aza (honestly, who can be, though) but they’re still pretty cool, and this story is bloody AMAZING. I didn’t know I needed it, but I totally did, and I am STILL grinning!! Just... fantastic stuff, and I can’t recommend it enough, for anyone. But especially you, Lou - I really think you’ll love this. 💜😍

how about some May/Bobbi headcanons for FFWF?

(I started writing this and accidentally closed the tab, boo me!)

Bobbi is, of course, taller than Melinda - but she is also much more willing to wear high-heeled shoes than Melinda is, which means whenever they’re on undercover missions that involve formal wear Melinda gets pouty because Bobbi is even taller than her than usual

They’re both able to tell what the other is thinking in an uncanny-valley type way. May and Bobbi have entire conversations with just their eyes and it freaks everyone else out because no one is ever sure whether they’re talking about their dinner order or murder

They prefer the term ‘partner’ over ‘girlfriend’, at least around other agents - in no small part because they think it’s funny to see the junior agents try to figure out if they’re in-the-field partners or in-the-bedroom partners (the answer is both, but they do not share that)

Bobbi learned formal Mandarin during her time at the Academy, but her relationship with Melinda helps her learn the slang and curse words with stunning efficiency. Bobbi’s ability to speak Mandarin earns her big points with both of Melinda’s parents.
