Honestly shout out to all the people who draw, write, animate, analyse, and make edits for Project Hail Mary because anytime I think too hard about the themes, symbolism, metaphors, etc. of it (both book and movie) I get a headache and feel physically sick.

Im not confused by themes and symbolism, I understand it just fine, a lot of them are glaringly obvious. However the depth of emotion these themes and symbols evoke make me physically unwell.

Like there is actually no way I could create something remotely serious or analytical about PHM.

Anyway this is all probably normal… 🙃

I love what an inherently slutty concept masked vigilantes and secret identities are. I think that's part of why modern superhero flicks just don't do it for me. Everyone has their face out, everyone knows their names, you can look out your window and see where iron man lives because he lives in a big fuckoff skyscraper. There's no mystery, no intrigue, no danger, no sexual tension. I miss the adventure serials and swashbucklers. I miss Zorro. I don't particularly care for Batman most of the time, but I respect the fact that even when he's in the justice league or hanging out with other supers or even rubbing elbows with gotham cops at a crime scene, that motherfucker stays masked the fucked up like the whore that he is. The upside-down spiderman kiss still lives rent free in my head all these years later, and it could have never happened if spidey just had his whole face out.
