Important lesson
Curses are not a game.
They have serious consequences to both the caster and affected, and are a constant source of pain. If you are not stopped from casting a curse from simply not wanting to inflict such pain to others, then consider how the curse will affect you.
You will be constantly tired and drained as curses are tough, you will be in physical pain, people will know that you have dabbled in the art of hurting others (trust me even non-magickal people can tell), karma will come to get you if the other person doesnt truly deserve it (rarely the case), and worst of all you WILL regret it.
Seeing an increase in curses on tumblr is concerning, please do not hurt your fellow person. We all grow, do not keep them and yourself from that process.
Trust me this is a pot calling the kettle black- I regret ever doing curses. Learn from my mistakes and not yours.
The snow moon
Tonight on the snow moon in my town we are having the biggest snow fall weāve had this year, and possibly the last. I happened to be driving today, and I swerved back and forth across both lanes five times and would have hit a car and landed in a ditch if Freya had not been watching. This moon is a starving one, begging for sacrifice. Emotions are tense, life is a struggle, but on the spinned head of that we may find a joy like we have never known. A joy of friends saying theyre glad youre ok and a joy of sitting outside while your hands freeze, and your dog plays. Ive been, over the past few weeks, questioning why I have lost so many people; to fights, to loss, and simple rejection. I have come to the answer that I will never know if I was the problem, as that does not really matter, that the real answer is that I do not care about the people who left me as long as I am standing by the ones who cared enough to be there. All in all Iāve been seeing a hawk every day for six days- that is besides today. Outside all day, not seeing a single bird, when I have been seeing them every day for months. Snowstorms make animals hide true, but I still find it odd. I am feeling a calm that I have not felt in ages- which may have something to do with Air visiting me today. I have not genuinly spoken to her in so long, and she is my main element (besides Spirit), so that scares me. I am worried I am going down a path that I will not want. Perhaps I need to be the one distancing myself from people I know donāt care about me.
The snow moon makes us all tired in the end I think.
Lets all do our best though. Wishing you all luck :ā¢)

Color magick coming soon. Focusing on color meanings in auras specifically! As how to use colors in your magick is a very different post. Itāll be posted either today or tomorrow as Iām typing it right now! Hope everyone has a good day today!!
I always felt a bit weird saying that my family survived the witch trials, as my grandmother is from denmark and she is the lineage that gave me my magick. I was always worried that because we didnt survive the SALEM witch trials it meant we were witches with an easier life. As I cant talk to my grandmother, I could never ask her if she or her ancestors had to deal with hunts, but after some research it turns out nearly everywhere has their own version of the salem witch trials! I really should have looked earlier, but it always feels weird for me to dive into my family history. At least now I can say nobody managed to get my ancestors even though they tried! Hurrah!
Have you felt low on magickal energy recently? Well boy do I have the spell for you! All you need is a little glass bottle and some paint, and we can dive right in!
So personally- my magick is very strong, but also very bad at coming back and staying in one place. My energy is red and black, so it can get pretty excited and just go!
Thats why I made this last night to bring myself back up to tippy top shape.
This is a sort of spell, however it is a spell that is much more focused on you not doing anything. This spell is what I would call a magick amplifier and recharger! An awesome way to give yourself a break from constantly trying to get control over constantly sapped up energy.
So how to begin- have a glass jar (doesn't matter the kind), some paint (doesn't matter the color), and your energy! That's it!!
So, in this spell we are putting our energy inside of the bottle, and then protecting it and giving it the power to grow itself. This is why I put symbols and things on my bottle (with paint), as this is what I will seal the protection and growth intent into.
So I chose some runes, my witch name (in runes then covered over in paint), and a symbol for the goddess freya (cause I love her and need to put more energy into the gods).
Then once the symbols or drawings you choose to put on the bottle are dry, you can begin cleaning and putting intent into them. Cleanse your bottle, I did this after the paint because its simpler, and put all of your intent on protecting and nurturing onto the symbols.
After that just put your energy into the bottle and Boom! It shall begin. Pretty simple!
Of course there are a lot of fun ways to decorate your bottle, one of my favorites being sealing it with wax. (However I wanted to open my bottle when its done haha)
Bottles are often used for other spells too, this spell could easily be changed to help in other areas of your life!
Alright thats it! Just a short little thing. I have many spells that are simple if yall care to see, so perhaps I will post those in the future. Good luck!
Tarot cards and Oracle decks.
Tarot cards and oracle decks! Tarot decks were my very first introduction to divination tools.
Types, how to use, spreads, how to find a set for you. I may go over all the cards in a separate post, but this post does not focus on that.
Tarot cards vs oracle decks.
Tarot cards are a specific set of exactly 78 cards (always having the same meaning), commonly used for telling the future and the unknown.
Oracle decks are a little different. Oracle decks usually still tell the unknown, however there may be any number of cards in a deck, and they are completely personalised.
You can google what a 7 of wands is for tarot decks, but you can't google what a panda means in an oracle deck! (The oracle deck I made is animal based, just an example.)
This is why it is a bit more important to understand the meaning in every card in an oracle deck. There is nothing wrong with constantly looking things up, but memorising 78 cards is a lot harder than less than 20 (as my deck is). It is also much easier to memorize oracle decks, because their meaning is usually much more clear.
Types-
There are so many different patterns and designs to tarot decks. (Sizes even differ as well!). My first deck of tarot was a teeny meeny little booklet shaped collection, and I had a strong bond with this deck. There is no difference in the meaning of decks (usually) and the only difference between decks is the coolness factor. Always structured with the major arcana, swords, wands, cups, and pentacles.
As for oracle decks, there are too many types to explain. The number of cards are unlimited, the types of cards are unlimited, and there is no set design for how to structure a deck. I made my oracle deck when I had no knowledge of oracle decks, so Iām amazed that it turned out ok. My deck is animal based, and originally I was making it for a friend, however as I drew and crafted it became bonded to me very quickly. I use my deck for predicting personalities of people, and it has helped me understand people a lot better.
How to use and spreads-
Both oracle decks and tarot cards can be used in spreads, however something I really like about oracle decks is that it is a lot easier to just pick one card for a full read. Explaining the previous statement- tarot cards can be cryptic, while oracle cards are usually quicker to a specific point. If I were to ask my oracle vs tarot for example āhow will my day be todayā, drawing a snake vs drawing a page of swords is a lot easier to grasp. (And tarot cards are a pain to read if you're not concentrating, it's much easier with oracle decks.).
Spread wise-
My usual go to is a triangle, a well rounded look at a situation. There are quite a few spreads though, and each can give you better results. Usually a specific spot is reserved for a specific thing- example- the top card of my triangle is the overall situation, and the three below are what is happening and what to do. There are even spreads that require a full tarot deck! Similar techniques are used with oracle decks, it is just simpler to see. Look up ātarot spreadsā and there will be a ton of fun spreads to try!
Finally- how to find the right deck for you.
Number 1) if you have a doubt that you will like your deck- don't buy it. There's always coming back later if you change your mind!
Number 2) feeling a strong interest in a deck is never bad, don't be afraid of not knowing what you're doing- learning is better with a deck than without!
Number 3) for me it is always better to be in a store looking at decks. Its so easy to waste money online, don't get caught up in a frenzy!
Number 4) do research- borrringggg, but needed. Find out what stores near you sell decks (barnes n noble does!) and what your price point is. Make sure the brand seems quality!
Number 5) there are a lot of myths about decks needing to be given to you- bump that!! If a deck feels right it feels right- nothing will go wrong if you are empowered in buying your own tools!!!
I will probably post pictures of my tarot deck and oracle deck later. I only have one of each, as ive only ever felt drawn to those two!
Alright that's about it! Thanks for reading so much and I hope this helps someone! Good luck!
Little things.
A composite of little things that bring me joy, and sometimes make me feel more magickal. Some I will explain, others I will not.
Rain,
Missed calls from friends- the feeling that youre being needed and still exist even when you arent there,
Butterflies,
Animals knowing when something is wrong,
The smell of yellow,
Naps after being in pain- that euphoric feeling of waking up completely refreshed,
Old books,
Pennies being found head side up,
Clean drawing supplies- so satisfying when something has obvious use, but is still well taken care of,
Missing someone- this is hard to explain, but I dont think I miss people like someone else would? For example recently I was remembering a dear friend who I dont speak to anymore, and I was just so happy for them that they could move on. I canāt move on after losing people- ever.,
Eyes,
Putting your forhead next to someone elses- completely platonically, it is the best feeling ever,
Gaint shells,
Gifts that are absolutely nothing- example, one time my friend gave me an absolutely dorky ring that I in no way could wear in public. But it just meant a lot for some reason. I usually even have it on me haha,
Crying,
Jellyfish,
Heartbreak- the kind that makes you feel like you again,
And finally- warm showers- we all need them once in a while.
Be back soon
Hope anyone whos having similar days as mine feel better!
Light some candles and take a shower, good luck all.
Familiars: the absolute basics
Who, what, when, where???,,,,,,, and the dreaded how,,,,,,,
The who: Familiars are living things, they can be both of the physical realm or of the psychic manifested realms. For example some familiars can be pets such as cats, dogs, and fish (?? Just an example.) And those physical familiars are often called āfetchesā because they serve a different purpose than non-physical familiars (physical often partake in rituals and helping in person while non physical can go almost anywhere and have certain specialties) . Non-physical familiars can be any amount of things. While they are often normal animals (dogs, cats, birds, fish) there can also be strange familiars that are absolutely bonkers. Also certain familiars can be both āfetchesā and non-physical, these are extremely useful as they can do everything at once, usually splitting their time between their body and their projections. Familiars also have names before they come to you unlike (most) regular pets. And names have power! For example, one of my friends knows the name of my familiar and if he had harmful intent he could hurt or do worse to my bird.
Example: My bird. I've had this familiar for over two years at this point. Familiars get stronger as your bond grows, so time is basically power. (I got him a really cool two year anniversary gift hehe).
The what: Familiars are basically a manifestation of energy, just like most things. Most familiars are a sort of version of you, who you want to be or how you see yourself, not ACTUALLY you obviously, but someone you can relate to. So sometimes as you grow, your familiar will either grow with you or you will grow apart slowly. Example: My first familiar was a dark shadowy horse. He was an angry boy, which was how I felt on the inside. Constantly wanting to destroy and conquer. Yet as I grew as a person, I discovered that I wasn't actually a destructive person, but my horse definitely was, and he was unhappy so I let him go.
Also- Using a familiar is like using your own energy, but with the caveat that it is someone elses energy that you are either, asking to use, or telling them to use in a certain way. So having a bond with this person is important as they have to give a shit about you to care about what you want them to do. Spending time with your familiar is a great way to create a bond. Similarly you have to feed your familiar, as soon as you summon your familiar they are reliant on you for their health, just like a normal pet. Feeding a familiar is semi-simple, as you just have to put your energy in your hands and tell them to eat (or tell them to just take whenever they're hungry). The stronger the familiar the more energy they take, and the less you have for other things. Most people cannot handle more than three familiars.
Another thing in another paragraph as it deserves it's own, binding a familiar and contracts. Binding a familiar is extremely important as they need somewhere to rest where they can be out of danger and close to you, and it also gives them a manifestation point for important things. Contract wise: it is important to have set boundaries with your familiar. Usually a familiar will not try to harm you on purpose, but if they need energy and you have none to give it can hurt. Usually my contracts look like this: 1. You must always come when I call. 2. You may not hurt me or my friends without my order or intent. 3. You may take energy if I have some to spare, but you must always ask before taking. 4. I will respect you and not force you to do things you don't want to do. 5. I will take care of you and keep you out of harms way. So that is the absolute minimum bare bones contract I have on anyone.
The when: When to summon a familiar is an extremely personal process. No one can tell you when to do this. Sometimes a familiar calls to you, and sometimes you just want to discover a new friend. If you are having trouble talking to your new friend fear not!! You could be too stressed or they could just be busy (they have lives too!), so just try again later. Personally just time wise I prefer to talk to my familiar later at night when there's no one around and it's quiet. I also put on wind chimes as that's what I've always done to focus better.
The where: It is preferable to start summoning in a personal space. It lets your familiars see who you are and lets them determine if they want to come to you. So summoning in a place you feel stressed is absolutely not the best place for summoning.
The how: Start by focusing your energy on the object you want to bind your familiar to. Use your energy to call on any familiar that is willing to join you, specifically asking for spirits that are helpful and willing to help you in your craft. Having candles going and or being in a bath can help you concentrate. Slowly begin to ask more seriously for things to come to you, and show your intent on how you would like to use your familiar, sending that out into the world. A voice or shape may start to come to you, if that happens then stop calling to everything generally and rather start calling that specific thing to you. Familiars communicate psychically and through touch sometimes so you may start to hear things and feel things. Don't be worried or scared!! Once you call your familiar to you enough so that it is on the object you wish to bind it to, start to talk. Start by saying why you want that familiar and what you would ask of them. Some familiars may leave at this point if they do not feel like you are the best fit, or if they do not feel like you will be able to contain and manage them. However if they stay with you then you can start to talk to them about the contract I mentioned earlier. They personally may also have demands and usually these can be agreed to fine unless they involve you getting hurt. It is also semi-important to put in the contract that it can be changed if both you and your familiar agree to it. To finalize a bonding I usually just do it on command, so it is difficult for me to describe this, but it can be helpful to close your hands around your binded object and whisper that it is done and the contract is sealed. Do not worry if you don't get any responses from a familiar quickly! Again familiars have their own lives and may be busy, as well as they may feel you need to prove yourself by continuing to attempt summoning even if you fail.
I actually have a completely different right up about uses for familiars as this is pretty basic, so Iāll post that soon!
That's all for now! If I think of anything else then I will add it! Good luck!!
Today-
Today was lovely!! I went to the store to get superglue to fix my ring, as well as going to a little apothacary in town. The lady at the apothocary is so sweet and cool, and helped me get shards of selenite out of my hand haha-
I purchased 4 things, those being- a selinite pendulum (i dont need more but this pendulum called to me so hard), a selenite stone (the one that got shards in my skin), a pink halite stone, and a lovely teal bag.
I had a lot of fun hanging out with my fellow witch today as well! Its always nice to practice with others. (And my ring is finally fixed!!)
Hope everyone had a great day!!!
How to use pendulums
I want to explain runes as best I know them, however its been a long day and pendulums seem better right now.
First off! Starting with how to choose your pendulum. I mainly choose my tools based off of a feeling, but sometimes it isnt that simple. If you are very much starting out and dont know what kind of tools you like, there are two routes I recommend. Either buy a solid looking tool that you can beat up and still rely on as you train, or choose the absolute sh*ttiet thing you see hahaha. Choose based on your favorite color, or your favorite stone! It doesnt really matter when you start off, as long as it feels good in your hand and can swing. You could even make your own.
So moving on, when you have your pendulum of choice, hold it by the string in one hand and let it dangle over your other hand. (Pictured). Saying a little greeting to your tool is also nice, as it gets you in the mood to communicate.
Once youre sitting still enough, ask your pendulum to āshow me my yesā it may then swing in a specific direction. Then once it swings say āshow me my noā and it will swing a different direction. My pendulums swing foward when yes, and to the right when no. (Side note pendulums are a yes or no answer tool only, this can be annoying, as if you arent asking the right question they will either not swing or be wrong)
Dont worry if your pendulum doesnt swing!! It can be hard when youre starting out. Speaking to your pendulum louder may help. I personally only think my questions as I have a tight bond with my Aventurine pendulum. (My pink one is new and they hate each other haha)
Once you know the habits and swings of your pendulums, you can start asking yes or no questions. If youre new its best to start out by asking questions you already know the answer to. Such as: āis this my favorite color?ā Or ādid my day go this way?ā These simple questions let you figure out how using this tool works, and if your swings switch directions you can figure out its pattern.
Please dont worry if pendulum usage is difficult!! It is a very different tool than most, and requires a strong bond. I use my pendulums when im very ditzy, so when I lose things or am stuck in between choices haha.
On a personal note, pictured are my pendulums! I only have two, as iāve only ever vibed with two, and I love them both dearly. The green one has a deer on it and is Aventurine, and the pink one is just metal and is very very simple. My favored aventurine is for when im in an excited mood, whereas I use the pink one when iām feeling more neutral.
So thats it! Its pretty simple. I dont have anyone following this account really but I hope if anyone has questions they wont hesitate to ask!
Crows are scary They
use tools
Can be taught to speak (like parrots)
Have huge brains for birds
like seriously their brain-to-body size ratio is equal to that of a chimpanzee
They vocalize anger, sadness, or happiness in response to things
they are scary smart at solving puzzles
some crows stay with their mates until one of them dies
they can remember faces
SIDENOTE HERE BECAUSE HOLY SHIT.Ā They did an experiment where these guys wore masks and some of them fucked with crows.Ā Pretty soon the crows recognized the masks = douchebag.Ā But the nice guys with masks they left alone.Ā THEN, OH WEāRE NOT DONE, NO SIR crows that WERENāT EVEN IN THE EXPERIMENT AND NEVER SAW THE MASK BEFORE knew about mask-dudes and attacked them on sight.Ā THEY PASSED ON THE FUCKING INFORMATION TO THEIR CROW BUDDIES.
They remember places where crows were killed by farmers and change their migration patterns.
Guys Iām really scared of crows now. (q)Ā
Yeah but have you seen thisĀ
A colleague of my dadās lives next to a lake, and looked out the window one morning to see a duck trapped in the ice. A crow swooped down. āOh hell,ā she thought, expecting carnage, because crows are opportunists. But the crow chipped at the ice with its beak until the duck was free.
Idk of this counts but a few crows saved me from a magpie swooping attack once ,theyāre bros who can tell when magpies are being unreasonable and need to chill
I love crows so damn much. When I was fifteen, I hit a pretty serious bout of depression, to the point I was in my room for months. Well, a family of crows made a nest in a tree outside my window. There were two parents and two chicks. One chick was healthy and strong. One was weak, and had a caw like something being strained. It sounded more like a rooster crowing and so my parents jokingly named him āBuckā.Well⦠months passed and Buckās sibling was taught to fly. His parents focused on the sibling because the sibling was strong. The father stayed behind to try and teach Buck, but I saw him try to fly, fail, and crash to the floor. His father helped him back up into the tree.
Every day, I would watch Buck from my window until one day I opened it and started talking to him. He was small and gangly and he couldnāt caw right. His feathers were all over the place and I felt a kinship. So I made a deal with him. I told him that if he could do it, if he could fly, then I could find the strength to get up. Well⦠near the end of the season, after talking with him every day, I finally saw him get out of the nest. He went to the edge of his branch, braced himself, and jumped⦠and just before he hit the ground, he soaredĀ back up into the sky. I cheered harder than I ever had before.
That winter, Buck left the area. I was crestfallen. I felt like Iād lost a friend. But I was so damn proud of him.Ā
Cut to the next spring? Iām walking up the driveway one day when suddenly I hear a sound⦠a broken caw. I look up, and Buck is sitting in a tree above my head. He stared at me and puffed his feathers, then hopped down in front of me and cawed again. I was so damn thrilled, and I told him how proud I was of him. He ruffled his feathers and then soared off into his old tree.Ā
That summer? I heard two broken caws. One from Buck⦠and one from his chick.
Cut to ten years later? We have a family of crows who all have a very distinct caw and they come here and spend every spring, summer, and fall on our property. Buck still greets me every spring.
that last reply made me wanna cry. thatās so beautiful.
Donāt forget the Russian Crow SLEDDING DOWN A ROOF not once, but twice.Ā
this one morning i kept hearing really loud caws, i remember it was like 5am, LIKE REALLY LOUD AND ANNOYING AND AGGRESSIVE, so loud that i could hear it through a closed window, and i eventually went outside to check it out. there was a crow on my front lawn, it had an injury on its head and couldnāt fly and there were two other crows circling right above it, and they were cawing like mad.Ā
i tried to get close and take a better look and one of them dived super low and tried to attack me. so i went back in the house and chopped some sliced raw meat and tossed it at him from a distance.
a few more times later, very soon after, they could tell i was trying to help, and did not attack me. i was āallowedā to walk up close and pick him up, he couldnāt drink water properly so i had to dip my finger in a bowl and stick it in his mouth.
i did this few times a day and it went on for about a week before he disappeared, i thought he recovered and left, but he came back the next day and lands on me, and i see him around the block quite often, and he would come sit on my shoulder for a few minutes and then fly away again. i feel like iāve adopted a son.
Best birbs !!
your son is Beautiful and Strong
every time I see this post it has different crow stories and every time I reblog it again because all crow stories are good stories
Like, I wouldnāt want to be on bad terms with a crow, but they are a really smart animal, they arenāt scary You just want to be nice to them because they will know and they will remember, and they will pay you back if you treat them a certain way.
As a side note, I volunteered at a rehab (Hope for Wildlife), where they were rehabbing a crow with a broken wingāwho was named Russell Crow. He kept pulling his bandage off so a sleeve was cut off some old clothing and put on him like a little sweater.Ā
!!!!
I donāt think Iāll ever not reblog this. This posts makes me cry and smile at the same time.
Heās so handsome!!
Birds . . I like em
I love crows.
@spiritspodcast
@doublekaiju crows are really neat :3
Ever since I was ten or so ive had these two particular crows follow me around. It may not be weird to see crows around but these two would follow me when I had to drive for hours to get to certain places, and I always felt like I had two guardians. So this goes on for years and I always smile and wave at them as they follow me on my drives. About five months ago though I stopped seeing the crows, so I had assumed they had just left for some reason and werent really following me. Then a little while after that while Iām driving I have to break really quickly because a crow landed in the street right in front of my car. So I just stop in the middle of the road waiting for it to pass, but it just looks at me as if its known me for years. I didnt think anything of it, but then the crow started to HOP. Just H O P up and down in the middle of the road in front of my car trying to get my attention. So I smile and wave at it really confused, and as soon as I do that the singular bird flies away with a caw. I really think that that was one of the birds saying goodbye as they knew my routes by heart, and knew when I take the back roads where Iād be able to stop. I havent seen the two crows since then, but I really hope theyre ok :,). And side note I always knew the difference between the two crows and any other crow, because of how they would follow me :) they were a very very nice presence on the road when it was lonely.
