started playing octopath traveler 2
Heyyyyyy
“There is a man I hate so much that simply killing him will not satisfy me.”
Quick sketch to celebrate the FE:Fortune’s Weave announcement! We don’t know much about Leda yet, but I can already assume that she and Primrose Azelhart (Octopath Traveler) would be best friends :)
you know yurio would attempt that backflip
yk why yuri on ice is such a unique love story? bc despite their physical attraction to each other it makes it abundantly clear that victuuri did not have a shot at an actual relationship until they let go of their ideas of each other.
for victor that idea is that of banquet yuuri
for yuuri it's childhood idol victor
they're both infatuated with a version of the other that's only conditionally present, short lived, made up or exaggerated. and the story makes a point to actively THWART the possibility of love at first sight. it keeps insisting that it's not love. not yet.
but it's not nothing. they are unquestionably drawn to each other. esp bc the other represents to them something they're yearning in themselves: yuuri is to victor connection, passion, and the feeling of aliveness that he'd become so numb to, so devoid of. victor represents a voice for self-validation, of acceptance from an opinion that seems to matter well above yuuri's own.
but just bc they want that doesn't mean they know how to get it or even accept it for what it is. they constantly miscalculate their moves and misunderstand and upset each other.
but they keep at it. and it grows into something more. the shift is so evident as they go through the motions of GPF. we see their relationship become one of easy familiarity. and you can tell what it is now, without them having to say it to each other or to us. they show us a love story just by building a special relationship and showing why it should matter.

The fact there are people who think RF4's story is just about beating a bad guy and saving the day makes me so sad.
How are people missing the story about sacrifices in friendships? The story about fitting in when you feel out of place? The story about the balance between selfless acts and self destruction?
I ranted about this elsewhere but...
Ventuswill's friends laid down their lives for her sake when all she ever really needed from them was for them to be there. And then, for centuries, she had to live without them. Because they had given up so much of themselves for her sake that they didn't even have enough left of themselves for her to cherish.
She is so weighed down by guilt and the pain of loss that she becomes willing to give up her life to see them return, only for her new friend (MC) to be so desperate to see her stay that they are willing to do anything, even give up their life, for her to live.
This back and forth battle for self-sacrifice is a beautiful metaphor for what it's like to try your best to balance a relationship or a friendship. We want to do all we can for the people we love, but the people we love need us to look out for ourselves as well. Our loved ones don't see us as tools for their betterment. We are people they also want to be around and enjoy time with, and most of all they want US to be happy too!
And then Dylas, Dolce, Leon and Amber return to a world unfamiliar to them. Their friends and family are gone, and they are completely out of place. In other circumstances, it would have been difficult to find a new place to belong...
But not in Selphia. Selphia, the home of a prince who wants more than anything to be a merchant, a detective without a single real case to crack, a travelling bard who put down roots, a knight battling her own fears and doubts, a butler who isn't very good at most things, a chef who eats food before it gets to the table, and a dwarf believing a lie after losing his home.
Selphia is filled with people who don't quite fit in. It's a town of outsiders and oddballs. People who don't quite have a home, or people to truly relate to. But in Selphia, they aren't outsiders. In Selphia, they have a home.
And so, even people out of time can find a place to belong.
There's so much more to the story than "let's stop the bad guy!"... That's just like a footnote to the greater story running through the game.
It's kind of sad that apparently there are a good amount of people who don't even see that.

Bat dad best dad
The dramatic irony of the team all huddling around a used takeout container and marveling over plastic spurred me to imagine what other “relics” might be floating around Euchronia lol. What kind of anxieties turn a guy into a fish with legs anyway?
They have no idea what it says, but some things transcend language barriers lmao
I miss them
