And here she thought that the only thing that might slow him down enough to have time for novel-reading was an infirmary sentence.
This was a āwork through the frustrationā piece, a lot of things didnāt go the way I wanted. Tried a new shading style for candlelight. Accidentally turned off their color layers underneath those layers, and had perfect ghosts. I want Anneās nightgown. And also that bed.
āHey Anne! Your knight looks pretty good in shining armor!ā
---
Some kind of festival or tournament at Garreg Mach, maybe? Or maybe I just watched so much ModernHistoryTV on youtube that I was inspired to try putting the āknightā in āholy knight.ā He DOES look pretty good in shining armor XD
-I can draw any fancy dress you want, but one (1) piece of armor is the end of me
-Itās SUPPOSED to be asymmetrical, but itās hurting my symmetry-loving soul
-What in the heck are horses. Please forgive my lack of horse-drawing skills.
-ModernHistoryTV is SUPER cool, by the way. if youāre ever looking for a documentary to pass the time, I highly, highly recommend it! Jason covers basically all aspects of knighthood, from combat to food to clothes (and yes, how you put on armor) and heās very easy to listen to. For hours. And not realize how long itās been XD
-Anne is dressed head to toe in Moresca clothes, so if you like her wardrobe, go check out Moresca Clothing and Costume!
Once upon a time, many years ago, a small Tei went to a Renaissance Faire with her mom. Once upon a similar time, they discovered @morescaā.
I would like to draw everyoneās attention, for a moment, to Moresca Clothing and Costume. If you havenāt heard me gush about them before, youāre about to. I have never purchased better clothes, anywhere, ever.
Bodices, blouses, skirts, bags, vests, cloaks, coats--they have some of everything, and itās all beautiful and all masterfully made. (I got my first Moresca bodice in 2006 and wore it almost daily for three years. If I hadnāt grown so much, Iād still be wearing it. My Moresca items are some of the best-made clothes I own.)
If you have questions about items, ask them! Kevin is wonderful about answering questions, everything from measurements to color-matching.
As is the case with basically every artist this year, their show schedule (and livelihood) has been thrown into turmoil. If you enjoy Renaissance, fantasy, pirate, faerie, cosplay, or just really neat clothes, please, please take a look at their website and their Etsy shop!
If youāre missing your usual Renaissance faire this year, consider leaving some of the money youād have spent there with the artisans you miss!
Ahh thank you so much for the tag @lapsangsouchongplsā <3 I did two for Iris, I couldnāt help myself. Floaty white-witch medicine woman Iris, and sharpshooting Kissinā Kate Barlowe Iris.Ā
tagging @aarcanefool @justfortuna @apprentice-chris @apprentice-althaea @apprentice-janire @19bottlesofdishsoap @viviae @3rrol @arcanecadenza and all y'all who wanna do it
Thank you love! Ahhhh, this was a bit hard to figure out. When I designed Salia, three different women inspired her appearance all together. And after some research, I didnāt think Iād find a good one, but I nailed it down to a close look alike.
Shlomit Malka
Hmmm shall I tag: @kidlightnings @peppermint-saddies @thesanguinerose @queenofeden @athousandstarstodreamon
mmmm Ky is hard because itās tricky for me not to get hung up on the hair? But Iāve stood by Mackenzie Davis for the both of them for a while, itās in the jawline, the eyes
Anyone who would like to play, should! But Iām tagging @swordwitchā @shieldwitchā @teiravenā @joshuaorrizonteā to do your apprentices/OCs ( Tei give me Anne ā„ ā„ ā„ )
Please understand EXACTLY how bad I am at celebrities and names, I had to wait until what I was looking for ACCIDENTALLY fell into my path. Good thing I remembered how much I like the song āKing of Anything,ā or I would still be thinking XD Turns out that Sara Bareillis has the right face shape!
Bold what applies, italicize what applies sometimes or somewhat.
ANNE
MEDIEVAL
Tired eyes. Coffee stains on the table. Listening to the bustle of the city. Unmade beds. Ponytails. Sunlight seeping through the curtains. Chapped lips. Walking barefoot across floorboards. Dusty dictionaries. Black and white reruns. Huge sweaters. The ticking of the clock. Hearing birds in the morning. Fireplaces. Falling asleep during class.
RENAISSANCE
Freckles. The sun rising. Watching the sea. Taking shots of the city. Historical museums. Bright eyes. Looking up at the clouds. Walls covered in artwork. Drawing in the middle of lessons. Tracing your fingers on the sand. Painting* for hours. Staying in uncrowded coffee shops. Worn paperbacks. Messy braids. Going to bed with your knee socks on.
BAROQUE
Dark hair. A little sophisticated. Always observing the world around you. Intricate designs. High ceilings. Extravagant musical pieces. Dim lights. Colourless photographs. Fancy furniture. Pale skin. Hearing soft footfalls coming from outside your room. Mischievous looks. Bitten nails. Candlelight dinners. Dark shades of lipstick.
CLASSICAL
Chandeliers. The clinking of a teacup. Laced clothing. Modern architecture. Light hair. Watching the view from the terrace. Hidden birthmarks. Drinking tea in the morning. Wandering about in an empty building. Botanical gardens. Old films. Ancient marble sculptures. Expensive perfume. Breakfast in bed. Reading stories about mythology.
ROMANTIC
Compassion. Short writings on scraps of paper. Blushed cheeks. A bouquet of roses. Reading collections of poetry late at night. Loose hair. Carpeted floors. Attending operas. Faint music playing in the background. Staying under the covers until midday. The night sky. Streetlights. Picking flowers. Dancing around in silk dresses/nice suits. Scented candles
*Paint is not her preferred medium, she generally uses pastels, but close enough XD
Tagging: all three people who follow this blog! XD
all right I donāt mind telling you that I spent probably an hour looking at castle interiors before I finally settled on Chavenage House (which is an amazing place, and also someone might recognize from Poldark) and furthermore, I have LONG since come to the conclusion that her necklace does not actually exist, and the ONLY thing I have found with that round wing shape is that amulet.
Also I have never considered animals related to Anne, except she likes cute things. A big help she is.
i think one of my favourite jokes is about crows and ravens. apparently, ravens have 17 pinion feathers while a crow only has 16, so really the difference between a crow and a raven is a matter of a pinion.
So myself and two best friends got matching tattoos that say ĪĻĻιε į¼Ī»ĪĪ·Ļον. Itās pronounced Kyrie Eleison and in ancient Greek meansĀ āLord have mercy.ā Itās one of the oldest Christian liturgical prayers and features in the Bible, and when Christianity became Latinised, it as one of the only surviving Greek prayers.
Just for fun I plugged it into Google Translate to see what modern Greek thinks of it and
10/10 A+ tat so glad its marked on my skin forever, would tattoo again
Compilation of all my submissions from Rodrigue Weekend over on twitter! They were an Adventure. I had a lot of fun with them, even though I cried over the wedding picture at least twice.
I didnāt set out intending to draw chronological pieces, but thatās what ended up happening and I like the result XD
Most of them have fun trivia in the original posts--
āTheyāre a gift, Rodrigue.ā
āThe greatest one youāve ever given me.ā
I had so much trouble coming up with a concept for this prompt that didnāt turn into āboring, static portrait.ā I waffled on whether to do this as a casual snapshot (as it is) or if I wanted it to be a āfailedā formal portrait (because Glenn canāt sit still.) I might do a second version someday.
I finally got That Renaissance Shirt (TM) right! Decisions were made about that shirt and I donāt regret a single one XD
Sorry, Felix, snaps and velcro werenāt invented yet, so you get a cute little dress.
This took. 80 hours. 400 layers. 2 months. Crying over fictional altar linens at 1 AM. Balancing and re-balancing the composition to keep their hands in the center of the canvas. I hope, hope, hope, that it was worth it.
A bunch of random information under the cut, that I just want SOMEONE to know--
The bridesmaids are--
-Danielle, the blonde one, who was Anneās dormitory neighbor at Garreg Mach, and probably just spotted a handsome knight somewhere n the crowd.
-Cynthia, the redhead in the back, is Anneās oldest sister, and has been obsessed with proper ladylike behavior for her whole life. Sheās a bit jealous that Anne, who never crossed her ankles the right way around, somehow ended up marrying the son of a duke.
-Trysia, the dreamy-looking brunette, is the middle sister and much closer with Anne than Cynthia. Sheās probably thinking about how sheās going to swap the positions of the forks at the reception, just to watch Cynthia squirm about it.
Anne and Rodrigue in the middle, of course. Her bouquet is Queen Anneās lace (ha), Fraldarius blue poppies, and a little bit of mistletoe. He gave her the blue rose pin on her shawl on their first date. He also gave her the necklace sheās wearing, a memento for the White Heron Cup where they first danced. She gave him his silver ear cuff on their first Valentineās day. Thatās the Sword of Moralta heās carrying and it took me something ridiculous like 16 hours to finally get to the point where I could screenshot it.
The groomsmen are--
-Lambert Blaiddyd, whose internal monologue was something to the tune of ā-LOOK at my BEST MATE getting MARRIED theyāre gonna be so HAPPY!ā
Ambrose Gautier, who is probably wondering why everyone is so cold, itās only December in Fraldarius for heavenās sake, itās not like February in Gautier. (Fun trivia, I ALMOST put Ambrose in a kilt, and I could not even tell you why. Just that I almost did.)
The altarcloth does actually have the crest of Seiros on it, but itās hidden behind Anneās massive skirts. An altar like the one in the Garreg Mach cathedral didnāt really suit the composition, so I went for something more akin to the light magic sparkle-shape in FE7 (you can take the girl off the Lucius blog, but you canāt take the Lucius blog out of the girl I guess XD)
When in doubt, put a Fraldarius crest on it. Theyāre all over everything. Just in case you forgot where you were.
OH--and where is Rodrigueās younger brother, you might ask?
Someone had to take the picture! (I felt bad that I couldnāt get him in the composition, but Rodrigueās cloak just took up so much vision.)
This was my original plan for āAcademy,ā but then I second-guessed if anybody actually wanted to see this random brunette chick in all of my submissions. But I really really love Anne, so--
Congrats, Rodrigue, you completely won over the most standoffish girl in your year. Four months ago, Anne would not have thought sheād be kissing a hella cute, hella sweet boy in the courtyard XD
