FairChild’s Reference 2023
Fairchild has been my mod pony for a little while now and I finally made her a reference sheet! Note that she doesn’t have a cutie mark and that she does have a simplified version for those who can’t quite handle her insane design (granted that some art programs don’t allow for blending and such that is very heavily part of her design)
FairChild is named after the C-123 Provider “FairChild” because I found the name to be cute for an mlp character (like Spitfire). She is a cross between a buckskin paint and a red shoulder hawk with dappling to reference my freckles! She is often wearing her red bandana as well as a wedding ring and cross around her neck (but not necessarily every time she is draw). Note: She doesn’t wear gold only sterling silver
All of her colors should be found on the swatch sheet but if anything is confusing you always feel free to dm me with questions!
Another late birthday present, this time for @temper-temper ! I’d imagine teaching your daughter to fly would be both terrifying and make a Pegasus mom so proud, flap those wings little Foxtrot!

I really appreciate you taking the time out of your day to draw this and I value it greatly. I wanted to draw a lil response but augh time and backed up with art!!! Still this is fantastic and you are fantastic! 10/10 would be friends with again ^^
Walking side by side were Healthy Light and their new friend, Syrah. Light had been heading back from one of their adventures to visit his love, Melon Grumps, when they stumbled upon another traveler in the darkness of the forest. She was hard to see with her deep teal coat blotched with lighter spots but Light was well trained in detection and was quick to offer a helping hoof when they met.
“I must say,” Syrah began, “you are very quick with the whole ‘magic of friendship thing’. Are all kirin like that?” The kirin gave a snort and smiled. “Not always, but since Apple Jack and Fluttershy visited our forest, my herd have been working on it more.” Syrah’s ears perked. “Fluttershy? That’s my neighbor!”
Before Light could respond they had reached the edge of the forest. From this vantage point they could see the Mel-Inn and this caused Light’s heart to flutter in their chest. Syrah gave them a look of smug knowledge, “is someone waiting for you down there?”
“Well, yes.” Light’s cheeks grew warm and they looked away shyly, “you see today is my birthday. My mare friend has invited me over, if I could make it, for a small get together with my friends.”
“That sounds lovely.” Syrah smiled as she started down the hill. “Where are you going?” Light called to her. “I don’t think your mare friend would like to be kept waiting!”
Finally, Healthy Light had made it back to their home away from home. Though they enjoyed their adventures very much, it was always a blessing to be able to come back to the soft kindness of Melon and the business she had set up for herself. Light admired her drive and passion greatly. Syrah was still with them, wanting to properly drop off her new friend before heading on her way home back to her own love.
“Syrah,” Light called as she started to walk away. “Would you like to come in for a rest as well? I’ll just need to ask if Melon can accommodate another guest.” The mare turned to face them. “You don’t need to worry about me. Besides I need to get back, left my husband with our filly and I’m sure dealing with a little batpony all on his own was been very difficult for him.” Light nodded to her. “I see, I completely understand.”
Just then the door to the Inn opened. Standing there was a smaller pink mare with green hair and black dapples down her back. Light’s eyes light up at the sight of her. “Oh Light! You are here, Im so glad to see you.” She started for a hug before noticing Syrah. “O-oh!” Next to Light she whispered, “a friend of yours?” To which the kirin nodded. “Would you like to come in?” Offered Melon.
“You outdid yourself.” Light looked around the space. It wasn’t anything too fancy but it was still beautiful. There was punch and a few pastries on a near by table as well as a small cake on another with plates out ready for when the cake was served. There were golden streamers about but only to accent the existing beauty of the building, it was beautiful in a reserved way. Perfect for Healthy Light. In the room was Prism with Honey at his side, Blueberry chatting with Squeaky Clean, Flux who invited Aerial, as well as a few others. “This is absolutely lovely Melon, thank you.” The earnestness in their voice flustered the mare. “It was nothing. I wanted to make sure you knew just how special you are.”
….“Now that every creature is here I’d like to hold a toast to Healthy Light.” All the guests shifted their attention to Melon as she spoke. “Don’t worry Honey you will get cake soon.” Melon seemed slightly annoyed at her sister which made the Honeydew stick out her tongue in guest.
“My dear, Healthy Light. You have made a difference in the lives of every creature you have met. You are kind, loyal, understanding, and endlessly patient. I know you have changed my life for the better…” Melon mumbled the last bit, blushing. “If it weren’t for you and your wonderful character we wouldn’t all be here today and this community wouldn’t be the same. So thank you, my love, for being exactly who you are. Happy birthday.” She finished by giving the kirin a small kiss on the cheek which caused the crowd to coo.
Finally, now that everyone had their cake and was sitting around bantering to one another; Syrah found Light. “This was quite the get together.” The batpony smiled. “You know I’m going to have to hear more stories from you if this is what others think of you! Let me know next time you are traveling this way, maybe I can meet you on the way.”

this messed up vintage cat sewing pattern has tormented me since i saw it & like some other folks have done in that post - i tried my hand at tweaking the pattern to resemble the illustration (and my personal tastes) a little more. i've ended up with this, which i have only tested at a small scale and not this final version exactly (where i have done such things as further widening the cheeks and finalizing the leg shapes.) i bestow it upon you nice folks now 👐

My first attempt! I made the pattern a bit smaller as I wanted it to be able to fit in a pocket, but then (accidentally but perhaps unavoidably) sewed it with a wider seam allowance than the resized pattern indicated, so the face is proportionally a bit too big and I lost some detail in the ear shape. I'm pleased with it though! It was fun to make something and to do some handsewing.
Thanks for drawing my batty girl Splunge! You did a fantastic job on not only her but all the art here- and so fast too! It was so fun chatting and watching you work :D

Please help me go into remission from Type II diabetes
Hello everyone, I am so sorry to remake this post, but I am very scared. I am experiencing embarassing and vulnerable symptoms- my type II diabetes is becoming progressive, and I am desperate to go into remission. It has affected my liver and my heart, and neuropathy has made me partially incontinent. On April I was hospitalized twice. I have no thyroid, and without medication, it will put me into a myxedema coma and will kill me within days. Hypothyroidism and type II diabetes is making it very difficult for me to find work, as I am from the global south (the Philippines), with government aid only covering 20,000 pesos (around 326 usd) a year. I am the only person in my family who can work; my mother is paralyzed from a brain injury, and my sister is autistic with a very low frustration threshold. I need help covering for my new medication, as I now take metformin twice a day, and phosphates to help with my liver and kidneys, and b complex to help bolster my immune system. Im sorry I keep remaking this post, I am alone and desperate. Community is all I have. Thank you so much for your endless grace and compassion.

Gotta promote this post. Diabetes impacts every aspect of your life and is hard to live with on the best of days- take away medication for those who need it and it’s borderline impossible. And for those who might not know- type II isn’t just caused by “not being healthy” enough, it is often genetic.
I hope you are able to make enough through patreon and donations so that you don’t have to worry about if you can afford medication or not. Thanks for making all the beautiful art you make!

ok so, I approached my local library with a proposal to donate a mural as a way to A: build portfolio/gain practical experience and B: give back to a beloved public institution. The director was very enthusiastic about it and i've been working on it since the beginning of March. Come with me as I endeavor to paint what is in all honesty an excessive amount of birds
I wanted the birds to look like they were actually in the space so first thing after doing the draft was to do a lighting study
after that I covered the walls in letters in lieu of a projector/vr headset bc i have neither of those :) Then i take a picture of the section of wall and superimpose the lineart over top of it so I can pencil in the lines
et voila
and that was a whole week on it's own so next comes the paintin' >:)
my chains are broken i am FREE. although i did have a great deal of fun with this, the barring on the wings itself took me like four days and i am READY to move on
this was a week and a half of continuous work so please excuse me for getting a little emotional in the bg 🙏

the male and female ones are gonna be posted separately bc they're taking a lot longer lol but yea! super happy i was able to capture the iridescent green of the head, i found metallic green and blue paint at a craft store that really made his head POP. it looks better in person i promise
ALSO!! As this is the 10th one, BIG announcement. The end is in sight!!!!! I plan to finish within the next 3 weeks and there will be a small dedication ceremony/ unveiling happening at the library to commemorate its completion on the 16th of May. the 16th is looming in the distance so i'm trying to get thru these as quickly as i can so i can have as much time for the GBH as possible. i still need to do the names next to all of them so i've got about a week and a half to finish everything which is GREAT because i have adhd and nothing gets my ass in gear like a fuckin deadline, let me tell you
power couple that they are, here's bird number 12 and 13,
the Northern Cardinals, Cardinalis cardinalis
and NOW that they are complete, ITS GO TIME, in the next five days (library's closed for mother's day 😭😭) i need to have the GBH fully rendered, the names of the birds vectored, weeded, masked, applied to the wall, and then painted, plus additional cattails throughout. I may be able to get away with just getting the GBH done in time for the unveiling and then just have the names and cattails added later, but i'm gonna really try to get it all done in time. BUT, i have a plan. Part of why i take so long on these is because i really am just figuring it out as I do it lmao. there have been many a time where i am sitting on top of the ladder googling "how to paint birds" but I think if i take the time tomorro to do all that figuring out how to approach it beforehand, this will go a lot faster. I may also recruit some of my artist friends to help with the placing of the names... hrmm we'll see.
Anyways, shout out to the librarian who tracked down exactly the thing i needed so i could figure out where to place the highlights in my birds eyes, ur the real mvp
thank you to everyone who reached out or got excited about this project, it genuinely gave me the fuel i needed to keep going. In total, the 480+ total hrs it took me to cover this wall pales in comparison to how long its expected to spend on there, hopefully imparting a sense of beauty and love for the natural world to the next generation and here's hoping i'm only getting started with these.
