prince of the miramar playa
bartender extraordinaire
22. human. beacon city resident A Jack of all Trades, suave cat-nip to women. Stevie is the oldest son of the Evans family, better known as Miami Beach Royalty. For the greater part of his life, Stevie and his family have lived inside the glamorous walls of America’s favorite playground; the Miramar Playa Hotel. From a young age, Stevie was hand-picked and groomed by his Father, to one day take over the Miramar Playa, himself. By the time Stevie turned 18, he began reaping all the rewards of his Father’s work, without any of the busy, larger responsibilities. It first started with his official management position inside the hotel’s sultry bar and lounge, “The Atlantis”. From management and bartending, his Father introduced him to the hidden gems that keep the hotel humming. Stevie soon begun to handle the grimier side of nightlife in the Miramar Playa: the guy who pays off the cops, arranges the escorts for well-heeled guests, catering to players in the high-stakes cabana poker game. He runs the ground game within the hotel. Stevie quickly adapted to this life, inevitably showing he was easy, and natural in dark waters. His life has always existed in Miami, and focused on growing in the business of the hotel. Stevie’s fierce and undying loyalty to his Father, and the people he cares about is the very core of what makes him, him. Despite that he isn’t all that morally conscious, his family is everything to him because it’s pretty much all he has that roots him to reality.

“Um, sorry I feel like you just told me you crashed into my car but just in case can you repeat that?”
“Well take your time because I think we both know that though I want a wild week-end with handsome men, I won’t have time for it.” Between aura reading and managing the hotel, she barely got any rest. Nik would force her to relax but it was hard to do so. Not with so much going on. “Well then I guess the models are a no.” she joked. His reaction to the bra bag was slightly priceless. “It’s exactly what you think: a suitcase full of bras.” she explained to him “Some are used especially for certain outfits. And since this is a fashion event, a bag full of bras, cups, tape, and holders are needed. Are you keeping up or are you still stuck on the word bra bag?”
“Hey, if you really want it, you’ll make it happen. Give it a test run, I’m telling you-” Stevie knew that she was under a lot of pressure and had several deadlines to meet, but he also understood the crazy lifestyle one led when working a higher title inside one of his Father’s places. It took a lot for them to maintain their quality reputation, but Stevie had learned pretty young when he first started, there was always a way to make time for yourself. Even if it meant a few flips, and doing things a little unorthodox to make the cut, Stevie had no hesitation to praise it was all well worth. Sometimes, it was just in the general rush of it, which he obtained more fulfillment, and buzzed gratification from.
He’d been thinking more about a way to set Marcella up with a trial on all this business and pleasure stuff, that he’d hardly got any of what she said about these alleged bra bags. “No chance.” Stevie reacted with a smile as he slowly shook his head. “The only concern I have about bras, is getting them off—” He was half-joking with that comment. A few moments after, they were headed back inside the hotel, the beach in their rearview. He figured he’d extend an invitation down in the Lounge, possibly give her a chance to actually sit down and take a breather from the overachiever schedule. “You should come down to the Atlantis for a few; while you still can.”
For Nik, certain habits would just not break. His gravitation towards Stevie, being one. “Oh?” Nik questioned. Before he could even ask, Stevie had already gone ahead with answering his next question. As in, what he did want. Nik, of course, accepted the drink, sampled it, and then slid Stevie his tip: a twenty dollar bill. “You’ve been busy.” Nik was mostly referring to the fact that he hadn’t seen Stevie in a little over a week. “Doing what? Or shall I say… whom?” With a nod, Nik gestured to a woman staring directly at them across the room. “One of yours?”
Though he’d been attending to the patrons, Cuda, and all the other Atlantis Lounge employees knew to grant Nik or Elijah a special service whenever present. Which meant that Stevie was here to stand around at the bar while the others took care of all the floor’s orders. With a tight pressed smile at his lips, Stevie silently listened in to Nik’s carrying on, pocketing the $20 bill in the meantime. “Busy’s in the air.” He said with a shrug, with regard to him not being the only one. Before the chance to answer with more than just a light, amused smile, his gaze met the pointing direction to match some girl’s lingering stare. “uh- could be. College girl?” He hesitated without any sign of a prominent standout to assure him ‘yes or no’. “Who knows with these girls out here. A lot of em look the same. It’s only the faces that stand out, I remember.” Turning his head faced to their exchange at the bar, Stevie’s attentions ignored the heavy staring eyes without any qualms. “Oh, and don’t forget today’s a national holiday.”
With yesterday’s accident caused by his own doing, still unresolved, Stevie had to get a ride out here from a buddy at work. He was standing across the street from Marcella’s car, which now appeared completely busted in the front. Stevie turned to find Lee approaching nearby, his unexpected audience lifted his spirits somehow.
“We’re all full of surprises.” His tone was silky with light sarcasm, serving none other than a diversion from the current situation.
“Some more than others,” she shrugged, looking down at the bar countertop for a brief moment. As she drew a deep breath, her eyes looked up to the man, batting her eyelashes slowly. “Looks like the Miramar really knows how to have a good time, doesn’t it?” Katherine whispered, her eyes glancing around the room. How many of them were on it now? Kat honestly didn’t care, letting her eyes drift back to Stevie.
“Never have needed to,” her voice went lower than before. “I get enough kicks from fast cars, whiskey, and beautiful men like yourself.”
He was a tad surprised when Katherine told him she’d never tried this devil’s spirit stuff. Mainly because he’d assumed she was no longer a virgin to anything labeled ‘illegal’. “You and me, both. I was hoping to get an outside review on this spirit stuff. `cause, you know, Lee says it’s this and that, top of the chain ... but, of course he would. Everyone says that about their product, and in my experience, about 95% of em are full of shit. So now, I might just end up testing these waters, myself.” Stevie’s brows wiggled a quick up-and-down direction as he put the small baggie back into his jacket pocket. “And that’s my agenda for the night.” Though he said that, it wasn’t guaranteed to actually happen. “What’s going on at your end? Besides the snooping.”
“Yeah, sure – I’ll get right on that.” Danny gave a slow shake of his head before finally cracking a smile. It was hard to take Stevie seriously. But at the same time, it was apparent, he wasn’t meant to. Because as usual, and despite being the oldest, he could never quit messing around. And it was that attitude which got him into trouble. But, at least he was happy. “Hilarious,” Danny commented, with a concealed grin. Needless to say, he was genuinely amused. The nicknames and playful jabs, he was used to. And actually recognized as a form of love. “Thanks. Busy night?”
“Between Monday Night Football, and today being V-Day eve—” He paused, taking a glance around the venue, noting that the occupants were mostly here for the flat screen tvs with the football games broadcasting. He appeared decisive with a light head toss. “I give it until, 11, maybe? Singles remorse.” He joked, now glancing to the clock that marked only 8:00 PM. Still early. Though his other coworkers were advised against having hard liquored drinks this early in the night, Stevie made a contradiction of the rules as he began preparing a drink of his own. “You should stick around; wait til the place is hit with it’s traffic from the night crowds. A lot of people from the college...” The latter was meant to persuade his interests.
Danny couldn’t help but wonder whether or not his brother, Stevie was currently high on something. As a bartender, his job was to listen, not to talk. And Danny knew from experience that while under the influence, Stevie’s conduct grew much more animated. “Are you sure you even know what you’re talking about?” None of it made sense. Then again, Danny wasn’t normally all that interested in other’s conspiracy theories. “Actually, nevermind. How ‘bout something to drink?”
“Does a rooster crow at the crack of dawn?” Stevie gave assurance to Danny’s question with some bullshit riddle that mocked it’s plausibility. “I’m telling you, it’s gonna happen. Better get to that bucket-list.” He had his trademark, glint of mischief-look in his face. As most of his family members knew it, the look was his ‘tell’, for when he was messing around. It was how you could tell whether or not he was being serious, or sincere, which he purposely made obvious. As Danny shifted the conversation, Stevie had already beat his brother to the request with the drink he was mixing right before him. “Way ahead of you, councilman— virgin pina colada.” It shortly became apparently he’d been joking when the older Evans passed him a scotch and soda.
Stevie had just finished going on about the latest word-of-mouth conspiracy, which people claimed December 2012 was the year the world would end. The idea had originated from Mayan beliefs, leading to a viral spread of strayed details. Of course, he didn’t actually believe it. He was merely just talking, to talk. “Yeah, it means the world’s got 10 months to figure out life on Mars, or else —” he projected sarcasm in that last part, as his lips spread a wide grinning amusement to follow.
“ Just tryna figure out who I’m talking too, ” she said with a shrug, looking up at him. It was what Davina Fell did; and it was really more a force of habit than anything else. She was a curious girl – her blue eyes wanting to know everything about everyone since the day she met anyone, really. And… anyone who talked to her was interesting enough for her, for the most part. “ Davina, ” she told him as they reached the top of the stairs. “ — it’s nice to meet you. ”
“Davina — likewise.” He repeated after with a verbal expression of interest, within his tone. “Never met anyone with that name. What d’they call you for short?” Stevie extended an arm to open one of the double doors that led them back towards the very busy lobby. As soon as the glass door opened, the noise filled their ears. He gestured for her to depart as he held the door, and soon followed after.
He hadn’t noticed Nik’s presence until looking over his shoulder, where he found him standing at the end of the bar. Stevie merely greeted him with a smile, as he took the two glasses of bubbly from Cuda. “You don’t want that—” He went to deliver the order to a small table nearby, returning few moments later. “You wanna start your night with an Old Fashioned.”
He had grown well accustomed to faces like Stevie’s. Like Damon, he had a way to hide discomfort or questions with a plastic smile. Stevie was smart at his craft, and judging by the art of his smile, it probably got him quite a few tips. “Dragged here,” his shoulders shrugged off the nonchalant demeanor of the man before him. “But you hear enough about a place or a person and it ruins it for you.”
It took harsher words than those for Stevie to actually take any accountable offense. For the most part, he often found humor in any shade thrown his way, especially in situations like the one before him. He still wasn’t even entirely sure it was for real, which easily showed in his expression. “Sounds like a rough time. The good news is — you could always just leave. ” Stevie offered a bemused smile, “I can keep a secret.”
Taking a second to size the guy up, Lydia hadn’t been paying much attention to him until now. “It’s not exactly a challenge, but feel free to do what you want,” she told him, although there was a very slim chance she would turn him down if he played his cards right anyway. Making herself more comfortable on the barstool she crossed one leg over the other, quirking an eyebrow at the effortless way he handled the glasses. “So are these for me or should I go for one of the specials?” she asked, her eyes running down over him pointedly before darting back up to meet his.
A slow smile began at his lips. When given the chance, Stevie granted the girl with direct, probing eye-contact as he leaned in with only one single champagne flute in his hand. The other was still placed before her. “This one’s for me, and the rest —” he tipped his drink towards her. “that’s all you.” His tone conveyed the underlying confidence that she’d join him. With that, Stevie surpassed any waiting expectation and took a generous sip of his champagne.

“You have no idea.” He flashed a half-crooked grin, before shrugging out of his leather jacket, draping it over the seat beside him. Leaning back, he stretched his arms out over the back of the chairs. “You make a man want to spend ludicrous amounts of money, which I suppose is the charm of it all.” It almost took no time at all for the familiar roll to appear whenever it was just the two of them. His nose wrinkled at the smell, even as he plucked it from Stevie’s hand and drew a deep breath, letting the smoke coat his mouth. “That’s some weird shit, dude. This from the same guy?”
“Probably not — I copped from your buddy, Lee. ” He said with a sense of calm and ease, lackluster in any care for it all. Stevie knew the type, guys who’d really into the discussion of the product, and it’s potency, like his buddy Lee. However, these two were a different case; when it came to Damon, he and Stevie valued some other mutual interests. Mostly just a lot of stupid shit, and generally overlooking responsibility. But, believe it or not, such a trait was a rare find in a friend. Ever since meeting Damon and Lee, he’d opened more doors than possible in a while. In both the connections, and friends department. That being said, he would continue to take full advantage of each moment. “I could roll another.” Stevie began, now digging through his pocket for a baggie full of the devil’s spirit he’d recently begun selling on the market. He quickly scoped around the area, before dangling the baggie full of the brownish-powder. Stevie placed it on his thigh, gesturing it’s attention. “Would you be opposed against me sprinkling some of that on the next one?”
