Pittsburgh Penguins Draft day
Now the biggest splash everyone was expecting on draft day but it was exciting. I hope Beau does well in NJ and he can stay healthy.

Pick #55 ~ Filip Gustavsson (G), (18) June 7 1998, from Skellefteå, Sweden. 6′2′’, 185lbs
Arguably the best player available at #55. Only just turned 18 and a project for 3-4 years down the road. Perhaps he’ll play with Tristian Jarry down in Wilkes Barre Scranton and help insulate us against next years expansion draft. From what I can find he has a good hockey sense, plays a bit deep in his net at times but lots of upside.
#61 ~ Kasper Bjorkqvist (RW), (19) July 10 1997, from Espoo, Finland. 6′1′’, 198lbs
Will play in Providence College next year, left hand shot, lots of international experience. Claimed to be strong, knows how to use his size, likes to play in tight to the net with good hands.
#77 Connor Hall (D), (18) Jan 28 1998, from Cambridge Ontario. 6′2′’, 192 lbs.
We shipped Beau to NJ for this pick. I cannot source a lot of info on him but not a bit point earner. By all accounts he’s a fast stay-at-home defense man.

#121 Ryan Jones (D), (20) 6′2′’, 186lbs.
Also not able to get a lot on him. Good news is he played all 60 games over his last two seasons so he knows how to avoid injuries, an always enviable trait. He will be playing at the University of Nebraska-Omaha next year.
#151 Niclas Almari (D), (18) May 11 1998, 6′1′’ 172lbs, from Espoo Finland. Roommate for the last three years of our #61 draftee, shoots Left, looks like he’ll be staying overseas for a year or two.
#181 Joseph Masonius (D), (19) Feb 17 1997, 6′0′’, 181Lbs from Spring Lake New Jersey.
He was ranked significantly higher, looks like his plus/minus tanked last year at UofC with -18. He also is a left hand shot.
