Riku will refer to Maleficent as his teacher as she alone is teaching him how to fully wield his darkness.

She had obliged to his request, her timid expression merely rising up to face the silver haired boy. His gaze was rather frightening…almost as frightening as the people who had originally captured her. She bit her lower lip slightly before finally acknowledging the first question he had asked. “My name is…Naminè. And…who are you?”

    She was pure wasn't she? He was reminded once again of Kairi's softness and purity, of Sora's fragileness when they were children and how happier things had been back then.                "It's... Riku."

Part of Riku knows Maleficent is manipulating him, however it's hard for him to care as he uses the fae to learn all he can before he leaves her to find Kairi on his own.

Learning Sora had no need for him anymore, Riku began to learn dark magics and while Sora learned how to master the keyblade... Riku trained under Maleficent and other dark magic users to fully master the darkness in his heart.
