What we care about is, when faced with a problem and you’re a member of a team, do you, at the appropriate time, step in and lead. And just as critically, do you step back and stop leading, do you let someone else? Because what’s critical to be an effective leader in this environment is you have to be willing to relinquish power. What else? Humility and ownership. “It’s feeling the sense of responsibility, the sense of ownership, to step in,” he said, to try to solve any problem — and the humility to step back and embrace the better ideas of others. “Your end goal,” explained Bock, “is what can we do together to problem-solve. I’ve contributed my piece, and then I step back.”

Aurelian (by Teresa Lieh) Location: Embarcardero, San Francisco The blue ridged background came from a humogous dumpster. Even the trash bins in San Francisco make a fashion statement! I love the color contrast between the soft pink and white of my outfit against the deep tones in each backdrop. “Aurelian” was inspired by a fictional short story about a boy with piercing blue eyes written by an fairly unknown author. Every single item worn in this outfit consists of heavily discounted, out-of-season pieces that I purchased months ago. Given that SF’s weather usually ranges between the 50s and 60s, the light jacket offers enough warmth for the city. Let’s talk about the sneaker wedges. I absolutely adore these for various reasons, including it’s comfortability, its affordability, it’s stability, and especially its versatility.
