A thought is harmless unless we believe it. It’s not our thoughts, but our attachment to our thoughts, that causes suffering. Attaching to a thought means believing that it’s true, without inquiring. A belief is a thought that we’ve been attaching to, often for years.

If space in infinite, how about the space inside man? Blake said that eternity opens from the center of an atom. My former terror vanished. Now I saw that I was mistaken in thinking of myself as an object in a dead landscape. I had been assuming that man is limited because his brain is limited, that only so much can be packed into the portmanteau. But the spaces of the mind are a new dimension. The body is a mere wall between two infinities. Space extends to infinity outwards; the mind stretches to infinity inwards.
Colin Wilson
Story idea: The most wanted woman in town has announced that she’ll only marry the one who can open her front door with the key around her cat’s neck. Many men try to hunt the cat down, chase and trap it, but to no avail, the cat is simply too quick, smart and clever, and always finds a way to evade and avoid them.
You are the first one to figure out the obvious: Do not chase the cat. The cat is befriendable. Get the cat to trust you, to genuinely enjoy your company, and you can hang out with the cat. You may eventually be allowed to touch the cat. The cat will freely let you take the key.
Secondary plot twist: The woman is a shapeshifter. She is the cat.
That’s some legit fairy tale level shit right there.
I legitimately do not understand why a vegan who’s dedicated to pursuing a 100% vegan lifestyle, to the point where they want their pets on a vegan diet as well, do not. just. keep. naturally vegan pets.
Rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, tortoises, iguanas, a fucking horse, for fucks sake!
Like. My god, you have so many options for pets that literally CAN’T eat meat! Why would you insist on keeping a predator, if you can’t stomach the idea that they’re goddamn predators??
Do you have any idea how goddamn loving a hamster can be? Would you like to know what it feels like when a bunny asks you for cuddles?
Vegan pets are a thing. Animals that literally only eat plant matter are a thing.
You don’t have to torture dogs and cats to live a purely vegan lifestyle. Go buy a fucking guinea pig.
Which is again proving the point how useless extreme vegan stance is from a social standpoint. It won’t help and won’t change anything if you and your dog don’t eat meat.
If we could admit how bad things are, that would be the beginning of something good, of a kind of radical honesty with ourselves. That would inspire a certain compassion for one another because we would understand that we’re all in the same boat, all shipwrecked. To confess the wounded, fractured condition of our lives—that is who we are! And that would be the beginning of wisdom in deconstruction, of something good. If everyone actually believed that, if everybody acted on that, there would be better political processes and better relationships. If people actually believed that they really don’t know in some deep way what is true, we would have more modest and tolerant and humane institutions.

Education is an admirable thing. But it is well to remember from time to time that nothing that is worth knowing can be taught.
Oscar Wilde, “A Few Maxims for the Instruction of the Over-Educated”
my everlasting hunger for obtaining knowledge will never subside. my mind will forever be a bundled mess of complex messages ending with a simple question mark.
Random question time
Whenever you think back on a memory, do you remember it in first person or third person?
Whenever i remember something i always see it happen in my head in third person. Like watching my character in a video game go about their business with a rear camer view. Its impossible for me to have these memories since I cant possibly know what the environment and such looked like at that angle or to be able to see myself in that way, yet thats how it is.
Tricky, I’m not sure if I ever considered this before... Also, isn’t a third person completely normal anyway?
friendly reminder that your personal growth doesn’t need to be witnessed or affirmed by others in order to be valid :)
He reblogged a post by ultra eric accusing you of being 3 other people and insulted you, so I was just wondering.
Thanks. You’re right, anon. Not sure what’s the confusion and I won’t hold a grudge. We’re good I guess, but it’s not like we were always “such good friends” who remain in touch. More like mutual tumblr respect, even though we do not always agree.
You will never find peace by trying to figure out everything all at once. That’s a recipe for overthinking, constant rumination and mental exhaustion. Why not choose to blossom instead for just a little bit day by day? Grow the small habits, the small ideas, and the small changes instead for just one step at a time. Cultivate your capacity for mindful awareness by doing just one task at a time and see where those soft bits of choices lead you. Then you can erupt in abundance starting from there.
