fiancée!bangchan x idol!reader
in which… you and bangchan are trying to keep your relationship hidden, but it’s hard to when you’re both so in love.
warnings: none, fluff mostly
authors note: let my guy get married jype, he deserves it so much, so here’s this!!
when you first debuted in 2020, you wouldn’t have believed yourself if you were told that you’d be engaged to the bangchan of stray kids; let alone dating.
it was a coincidence that you guys had met, a mistake by yours truly.
after being made an ambassador for fendi, you’d been invited to a meeting to discuss some promotions events you’d be attending.
and with you being so excited and caught up in work, you’d attended the building a day early, having flown over the week before. which is when you met chan.
he was there for his meeting, the one you accidentally showed up to. but this worked in your guys’ favour more than anything. the business asking your companies if you could collab on a few shoots and promotions.
and from that moment on the relationship flourished. you didn’t expect it to.
you assumed you’d fly back to korea and be civil with chan. say hello at concerts, congratulate each other after group wins.
but no. there was a magnet between the two of you, an unexplainable pull which always brought you back together.
you met his boys, he met your girls. and from that moment on you were inseparable.
you’d sit in his studio when he was working out a few demos, stressed from his pile of deadlines and work, but you were his calm.
he’d proposed four years later. it was the night of your final tour date, you and your girls finally finishing your six month tour, back home in korea.
and it was that night your future was sealed with your dream man. everyone’s dream man.
the companies were slightly awkward with you both. you weren’t allowed to share this publicly, everyone who was aware was signed onto a very specific and strict NDA. but you two couldn’t be any happier, and be more obvious that you were both clearly in love.
chan started the rumours first, that they’re might be someone in his personal life. a sit down interview featuring him, a laid back style really.
“what would you be doing if you weren’t in stray kids?” the interviewer asked.
chan smiled, he tried his hardest not to crack entirely but the smile was clearly there, “i’d probably get married,” he answered truthfully.
“you wanna be a good father?”
“yeah, yeah i do, one day, maybe,” he responded, smiling, knowing you’d be watching this.
a family was something you and chan had always spoke about. it was something you both desperately craved.
chan wanted to be a girl dad, through and through. maybe a girl and a boy, if you both could deal with two, but you both knew what you wanted.
the following week he was featured in another interview; another following the same style in which it was relaxed.
“agh it’s weird, cause y’know we’re talking about childhood, and if you compared childhood to, i’m an adult now, but i feel this is more adulthood to me…” chan had finished explaining.
“you have to take responsibility for your family, you have work to do… wow!” he breathed out.
“you’re playing a game, and you’re in act one and it becomes open world,” the interviewer explained, chan nodding, “it’s like that, it’s just a bigger world,”
chan looked down at his hands and then up, “when am i gonna be married?” he asked, a big smile on his face as he laughed.
you’d laid with chan that night as you watched the interview, giggling at his face when he rewatched this specific part.
“not too long, channie,” you’d said to him, nuzzling closer into him.
the following week you were in a wired autocomplete interview with the girls. sa-rang held onto the board as she peeled each line back.
“is y/n…” she peeled the sticker back, “married? are you?” she smirked knowing how you couldn’t lie, but wanted to see how you’d deal with this.
“i wish.. i wanna get married, so hopefully one day,” you responded, the smile clearly on your face.
a week later, you’d been spotted by some fans wearing clothes that looked all too familiar. but not yours. chans.
a pair of baggy jeans, which fell a bit too long on you and a jumper that was seen only a couple weeks back in a live video chan had recorded.
of course the internet went wild. fan theories, people connecting all the dots, people defending you both, people attacking you. the internet was crazy for both groups.
anytime either groups were papped, no matter which member, the paparazzi asked about you and bangchan.
and just the icing on top of the cake, was the time chan was leaving your apartment complex. his ring on his finger, a routine the two of you had gotten into; everytime you were with one another in private you’d wear the rings.
but being so caught up in his love spell with you, he’d completely forgotten to take the engagement ring off. that was the final straw for people, especially the fans who knew everything about you and chan.
they knew it was your apartment building, and they knew it was an engagement ring. so there was no defending it or covering it up now.
as chan arrived home back at his dorm, he saw the flood of missed calls from you.
“chris! you idiot!” you groaned playfully.
he furrowed his eyebrows at your tone, “what did i do now?” he joked.
“your ring!” you told him.
chan looked down at his left hand, and there it was. his ring. “shit…” he breathed out. “maybe the company will let us tell everyone now!” he tried his best being optimistic.
“or! we get put on ‘hiatus’ for personal reasons! chan this might not be good…” you panicked.
he sighed, “i’m sorry baby, i should have been more careful. but, when i’m with you i just go all brain fuzzy and i can’t think straight because you’re just you!” he rambled.
by some miracle, the companies had given up. they’d done some research together, collecting stats and doing estimates and averages on what the overall reaction would be.
you and chan were gathered into the JYPE building, your company CEO also making their way over, to have a sit down chat with you, your managers and the whole team who looked after stray kids and nixora.
“we’ve ultimately decided, that the pair of you can publicly announce this engagement, once you are married,” JYP explained.
your faces lit up with pure joy and excitement. the ability to speak publicly and share updates of the two of you, happily married and together, no longer having to hide the truth.
“we’ve all done intensive research, and it seems the majority of people want you both to be happy and married, whether that is with one another or apart. which of course means that the group image and your personal image should stay relatively intact and positive,” your company CEO spoke.
chan squeezed you hand under the table, his eyes lighting up as he examined your face while you listened closely. he could finally share you with the world.
as soon as you two arrived home to his dorm, you moved to his room and immediately started looking for wedding venues, dates, menus, dresses, suits. everything. you both wanted this wedding soon. the sooner you did, the sooner you could share your news.
a month later and you were officially y/n bahng. you’d married in a quiet setting, the only guests at the reception and the ceremony being your families and members, plus a few extras. it was down-low, quiet, a dream. what you both wanted.
and as soon as the night was over and you’d both arrived back at the hotel you’d booked. chan immediately hoped onto his instagram and bubble, sharing a photo of you that he’d snuck on the way home of you in your dress, admiring your ring.
you were beautiful. you always were to chan.
not even five minutes later, your post popped up on instagram, a photo from the wedding venue, of you and chan laughing while felix recited a speech at the following ceremony.
you captioned it ‘i do, and i did <3’, while also tagging bangchan, making it very clear what exactly had happened.
and the internet went crazy. positive reviews from everyone. a lot of people saying you both deserved the chance to settle down with one another. it’s what you both spoke about in interviews, so it felt right for everyone, knowing you both wanted it.
maybe next time you’d both have to slip in a mention about a child, and let that one come to the surface in your favour…
