STAY IN THE DARK, London 2016

“It is pitch black. I am standing in the dark.shaking. on a 40cm edge, facing the dark nothing that opens up in front of me. I carefully sit down and overcome myself to take a glimpse into the black hole. 12 meters below me I can barely see doctors headlight disappear in the tunnel. 12 meters. No stairs. No ladder. Just crumbly old metal construction tubes with their rivets to hold on. How the fuck did I agree to do this? This is like suicide. If i slip, i die for sure. I should leave right now. I could be in bed with my girl now. Why do I end up in these situations again and again? I arrived to London just a couple of hours before with the one and only intention of this spot. But all I can think of now is to give up.

This well known feeling seems to become the big topic of my travels to the British capital. Every action turns out to be a bit loco… if not completely insane.

While we are driving through all these neighborhoods around the city with all those tiny houses, the foxes sneaking through the streets, it becomes hard to imagine this gigantic village happens to be one of the most surveilled cities in the world.

Barbed wire. Layered fences. Securities making their rounds. Cameras and sensors. Workers in the sheds. The gaps in the system seem to be so small. Tiny small. And yet my friends tend to find them. Thank you for sharing some of these fading moments with me!“
