Beard-Gate 2k16
(Rhett shaving his beard has not been officially confirmed as of July 26, 2016 a.k.a the date this post was made)
Now as all you may know (or maybe not) this picture
has been circling around. It was uploaded to the pagekennedy snapchat [not 100% sure on the time, although it was at least today] now for those that haven’t been following the production of Buddy System, Page Kennedy has been on the set with RandL. (x,x,x,x,x,x,x) and after this snap was posted publicly it was deleted very shortly after. This has lead many to believe that Rhett has shaved his entire beard off, but I’m still on the fence about this.
Now I like Rhett’s beard don’t get me wrong but the man is gonna be 39 years old he can make his own damn decisions no matter what people on the internet say and it’s not like i’ll stop watching if this is true. But the thing is..
Why? Why did Rhett shave his beard?
The man that has said: “I will go clean shaven for 10,000 dollars, no less” [Killing Rhett’s Beard 0:48-0:51] And (I don’t have a direct quote for this so I’m paraphrasing here) “I’ll never shave my beard for any role” PLUS “My wife said, ‘I love you having a beard, in fact I don’t want you to ever be clean shaven again’…” [Killing Rhett’s Beard 4:00-4:19]
“But Kersius, GMM Episode #231 ‘Killing Rhett’s Beard’ was uploaded 3 years ago don’t you think he could of changed his mind by then?”
I hear you say, well my answer is no but you have a strong point. Now sadly I don’t have any evidence that is more recent where he has said something about not wanting to shave his beard directly (as of now, although feel free to add anything you find) so I can’t back myself up on that but I do have a tweet which is what made me doubt this in the first place.
Y’all remember this? Yeah nobody is bringing this up at all even though it’s very important to consider.
As you can see this tweet was made March 17, 2016. Now if anybody can remember, the video that leaked Rhett and Link were doing Buddy System as a Youtube Red Exclusive was from June 14, 2016. Based on that we can assume that March was around the time they were done with/had final drafts of Buddy System’s script
Now this gives us 2 options:
1. (most likely answer) Rhett and/or the crew couldn’t find a way to make a “beard cap” and so he had to clean shave for Buddy System. It’s more likely he would at least shave for his own (and Link’s of course) project. It would only take two weeks for his beard to grow back and based on these posts by the Official Rhett and Link Tumblr (x,x) they’ve already started filming Season 10 of GMM and Rhett will be clean shaven for the first couple weeks.
2. (hopeful answer) They did find out a way to make a beard cap and he was wearing it at the Buddy System wrap party. (for some odd reason)
Now my final thoughts, if Rhett did shave his beard I’d be kinda sad but it was the same way when Link got rid of his wings, I accepted it and I like his new haircut. (although with Rhett’s beard I’m crossing my fingers this isn’t permanent.) but whether or not Rhett really did shave his beard I’m super excited for Buddy System and Season 10 and I can’t wait for August 1st.
UPDATE: OKAY SO, LITERALLY WHILE I WAS MAKING THIS POST RHETT AND LINK AND STEVIE UPDATED THEIR SNAPCHATS
So I guess I was right and it was just make-up (and rhett would never shave his beard lmao) but people are doubting this because
They’ve got the same outfits on in the Vidcon teaser.
So people are thinking they’re trying to mess with us but I think differently. If they did prerecord all the snaps then it would say it came from the camera roll on there but it isn’t shown on the snaps so it would be impossible that they pre-made all the snaps.
BEARD-GATE 2K16′s CURRENT STATUS:
Rhett still has his beard and they purposely choose the same outfits they wore in the Vidcon teaser.

So as you all know, Rhett has returned with his beard intact for the return of Good Mythical Morning. Although, people have been speculating it may be a fake beard but I doubt these claims. Now this is where most people would probably quit but I feel like we can’t officially confirm this until Buddy System is finally released. This concludes your Beard-Gate 2k16 update.
