craxedgrin:
Meicoomon was half asleep by the time Meiko brought her into the apartment. Any anxiety or fear that lingered had been banished by Meiko’s tender, but tight hold, and her promise.
I love you!
It made Meicoomon purr harder just to hear the words in her head again! She clung to Meiko like a child, comforted and…and safe. Yes, Meicoomon was always safe with her; that was what she remembered the most. And this time, she was going to make Mei feel just as safe too.
No more crying. No more danger. Meicoomon was going to be the best partner ever.
They entered the apartment and Meicomoon lifted her heavy head, sniffing the air. Mei’s scent was apparent, obviously, but there was another one–sort of familiar, too. Almost like herself, but not.
Before Meicoomon could figure out the source, she found herself presented with a spoonful of tuna. Green eyes sparkled and became vibrant as the Digimon wasted no more time, eating the mouthful. Her fangs scraped lightly against the metal in her haste, flecks of meat messily covering her muzzle as quickly devoured the first bite.
“Dandan,” Meicoomon chirped, her eyes shutting from a swell of joy. She could investigate that weird smell later, after all.
Hearing the dialectal form of thank you, Meiko couldn’t help some fresh tears that fell from her face. They weren’t tears of sadness, but of joy and relief again. Seeing that Meicoomon almost ate the spoon along with the tuna, she couldn’t help but laugh out of slight concern,
“Easy there Meicoomon, I don’t think Digimon should eat silverware, and if you’re still hungry, I can open another can for you, but I want to make sure you don’t eat too fast and get sick.” She quickly got a slightly bigger spoonful of the food for her and spoon fed her the rest of the can.
Throwing the empty can away, Meiko carried the other towards the small sofa that she had in her already small apartment and sat down, scratching Meicoomon’s head out of muscle memory.
Softly, “Meicoomon, when did you get here? And how long? If I’m going to be honest...you look terrible...”
More concern and worry filled Meiko’s voice and head at imagining what her partner had gone through while Meiko was just sitting here doing nothing.
