T. Hardy Morris

T. Hardy Morris remains Athens, Georgia’s foremost purveyor of dynamic, genre-bending rock-and-roll songwriting. His is a blend of poetic southern outlaw storytelling delivered in a haunting vocal howl. The founding member of Dead Confederate and indie super-group Diamond Rugs is set to release his (untitled) third solo album, in early 2018. Morris’s follow-up to the dark, hard-driving sophomore offering, 'Drownin' on a Mountaintop', returns to the hushed, intimate vibe found on his critically acclaimed solo debut, 'Audition Tapes'. Drive-By Truckers co-founder Patterson Hood described Morris’ songwriting as, “distilling that subtle truth down to its very essence and expressing it in a way that cuts through the bullshit … I was immediately blown away.”

T. HARDY MORRIS ANNOUNCES DECEMBER TOUR DATES WITH SAINT PÉ, from THE BLACK LIPS PLAYING OCTOBER DATES WITH DRIVE BY TRUCKERS

T. Hardy Morris is excited to announce upcoming tour dates with fellow Diamond Rugs compatriot and The Black Lips alum Saint Pé. The December shows follow a run of gigs with Drive-By Truckers this October. Morris is touring in support of his new album Hardy & The Hardknocks: Drownin On A Mountaintop, and recently unveiled the music video for the single "My Me". The Cartter Fontaine directed music video is the perfect visual accompaniment to T. Hardy Morris' own unique blend of grunge rock and country, aka Crunge, and captures the raw energy found on the new album praised by American Songwriter for its "rebellious, defiant and occasionally even sympathetic Southern aesthetic."

"Saint Pé and I obviously have the Diamond Rugs connection," writes Morris about the upcoming December dates, "but we have been running in the same Athens / ATL music scenes for years; we came up together. He also played some killer guitar parts on my first solo album and John Watkins from Dead Confederate plays with Saint Pé as well.  We have been talking about doing shows with our solo bands together for a while and now its time.  We collaborate well, so that'll be happening at the shows I am sure :)"

Let the Theme Reveal Itself: T. Hardy Morris on Grunge, Spontaneity and Small-Town Living

“I was in Nashville for a few days and did some demos. I had a couple of songs that we were calling 'crunge'—like country grunge? We had the song ‘Drownin On a Mountain Top’ and maybe another one, and we were just kind of laughing about the whole 'crunge' thing. And I was looking at the calendar going, ‘I don’t know when I’m going to record this. It’s going to be a while, but, well, I don’t have to worry about anybody else doing it in the meantime.’ And we finally got around to recording here, and, yeah, we were doing those demos maybe a year-and-a-half ago and, still, nobody has done it. So now we’re good.”
